Dang. 8 for 34 shooting in the 1st half killed us. We would get within 2 and then Indiana would bump it back up to 8. Couldnt make a 3 when we needed it.
Our best player was 1 for 14 from the field.
We were right there.

Congrats Kodos. I will be monitoring my PMs for my new sig.

Good game, Tarc. Could've gone either way. Your guys played with a lot of heart, and clearly that's a difficult place to get a road win. How often does Hulls go o'fer?

I love Oladipo. Great defender, and a real sparkplug for the team.

Shoot, I forgot the B1G season started tonight. I missed that game as I really wanted to watch Iowa to see how they fair against Indiana. Looked like a good one.

Wyoming remains undefeated with a win over SMU. Not exactly playing anyone big but...it's still the best start in school history, which is pretty cool. I didn't really like the whole Shyatt retread tour when they first announced his hire, but clearly it's worked out. Not that it means giving his kid the program when he retires is necessarily the best play, but I'm all for him hanging around until he loses a step or gets bored, because it's the most competent they've been in about a decade.

Saw that Leron Black decommited from Baylor yesterday. Would love to see him come to Mizzou now that his AAU teammate Anton Beard is committed to Mizzou. Those two would make a helluva class.

Win #903 for Boeheim last night, passing Knight to become #2 all-time. You can pick apart the number some I suppose, and Boeheim is certainly not as revered as some of the guys below him on that list, but I'm just more in awe of the whole story beyond the number - showing up as a freshman in 1962, walking onto the team, and never leaving Syracuse. Along the way there's been a handful of great teams, and a ton of very good teams that didn't always have the best talent.

I saw some stat where Rutgers had won 902 games in the previous 66 years whereas Boeheim had won the game number of games in his coaching career, roughly 30 years less. Pretty impressive stuff.

Colorado has an apparent game-winning shot that is waived off, then go on to lose in OT.

Apparently, Pac 12 refs are awful, no matter what sport it is. I am surprised the lead official didn't throw a flag for PI on the Colorado player.

Arizona should do the same thing Colorado did after they were shown the 5th down replays... nothing. (Still bitter )

Colorado Hits Buzzer-Beater To Upset Third-Ranked Arizona, Referees Wave It Off For No Reason [UPDATE]

It wasn't even the worst call of the game. Colorado was fouled on an inbounds play where the clock never started. Arizona subbed in Soloman Hill after the dead ball. (a sub is not allowed if no time went off the clock. CU tried subbing in players and were told they could not do it) The next Arizona possession, Hill hit a three to get the game to within 2 points. He never should have been allowed on the floor.

In OT, with the score tied 83-83, the Arizona players drives to the basket, picks up the ball and spins, loses the ball (not by it being deflected,he just lost it), picks it up and scored.

On the Arizona side, there was a horrible foul called on them where a CU player took a dive and got a call, on the other hand, Arizona was fouling CU up the court that entire possession without a call.

CU could and should have won the game. Arizona played sensational in the final two minutes and OT, but the only way they won the game was by the zebras. I think what bothered me more than the refs was the fact the PAC 12 came out and tried to say they got the call right. No, they didn't. Any moron can see it, you did not get the call right. Admit it and we'll all move on.

Panerd,

I'm on the other side of the 5th down one, but I think it's important to keep in mind CU only spiked the ball on 4th down because the marker didn't change. People who talk about the game now act as though CU would not have gotten a play off on 4th down which is factually incorrect. The only reason the QB spiked the ball is because the marker showed 3rd down, not 4th. What the refs error did was give CU time to call the play, but in reality, the option is what CU ran and that's what would have been called anyway.

To this day, I don't think there would have been much of a difference in the outcome of the game if CU had ran a play on 4th down with 2 seconds left or if they had ran the one they did. It was always destined to be a play right at the goal line to decide the game. I'm not saying the call was correct or that the refs all shouldn't have been fired the second they walked out of the stadium, but CU was always going to run an actual play Missouri had to stop on the final play. CU may not have had the brainiest players in the world, but they would not have spiked the ball on fourth down to end the game either.

Well, you should definitely give us better competition than Northwestern did. I'm glad this is a home game, I'd give Iowa a 50/50 shot if it were @ Iowa.

I'm still having a tough time gauging how good this Illinois team is. Got the high (19 point home win against Ohio State) and low (road loss to what appears to be an average-at-best Purdue team) this week. I guess the thing that I'm most encouraged about now compared to earlier in the year is that it isn't just the seniors playing at a high level. Abrams and Egwu, who are sophomores, have improved over the course of the year, and Bertrand is going to be a lot of fun to watch next season when he is the focal point of the offense.

I changed it for you.

Iowa let Michigan run away in the last 4 minutes of the half. Down by 11 at half.

Our transition defense is horrible. Michigan is running and dunking.
We get one shot and Michigan rebounds and runs. We shot and missed with 4 seconds left in the half, UM rebounds and gets a lay up. That cant happen.

It looks like a blow out in the making.

oof. I had to go ref and missed the 2nd half, luckily.
That was a reality check. Our transition defense was pathetic. We need to keep improving. The B1G is a murderers row.

Oddly enough both teams would score more points if both football teams were involved.

I've never seen a Michigan team play with this kind of poise before. The Fab Five and the late '80s teams had a lot of talent and won a lot of games, but it was somehow different. This is the feeling I get when I see Duke or Kentucky play - they expect to be on top, they expect not to turn the ball over.

If the defense gets just a little better, I can see them winning it all.

And I know point guards aren't necessarily top five picks, but Trey Burke is driving this thing. I haven't seen a better point guard this year.

What I noticed was that once they got hot and they started to run and get Iowa down, they went for the jugular.
In the stretch from 4 minutes at the end of the 1st until 2 minutes into the 2nd they put Iowa away. A 18-2 run before I left. Jeez.
And you could see it in their play. They knew they were going to blow us out. And then did.

Same here. I've followed Michigan basketball since the 80's, and even in when they won it all '89, I didn't feel like Michigan had the attitude that they do this season. This could end up being a special year. I just hope everyone doesn't go to the NBA after this.

Was puzzled at Ohio State's rank in the Top Ten... I see that is going away now, rightfully. They may finish 4th or 5th in the B1G this year. It's fucking rough out there.

Happy to have Illinois not being at the epicenter of Slogball this season. They definitely had some "distinguished" contributions to that style of play in the latter Weber years.

I've heard a fair amount of message board chatter about them putting together a potential monster of a 2014 class. But yeah, the couple OSU games I've seen this year look like a team where all the parts don't fit very well. Still plenty of time to shore up issues when you've got a bunch of untapped talent, but the offensive identity is pretty much missing right now. Weird to see after the last 5-7 years under Matta.

Iowa was mired in slogball during the Lickliter (wasted) years. Iowa hired the wrong coach to do it "The Butler Way".

By the way, Lickliter is now coaching a NAIA team. How do you go from a B1G school and fall to that level? Oh yeah, dont bring the real coach and recruiter with you.

Good start to the conference season for Mizzou. Pressey played well, Brown continues to impress and the inside guys really hurt Bama. Obviously a bit of concern about Bowers hurting his knee, but it looked like he'll be OK.

In the almost as fun as watching your team win category:

Georgetown struggled to break 40 AT HOME. They were still under with less than 5 minutes to play. They got smoked AT HOME by an unranked (although previously ranked and somewhat solid) Pitt team by about 30 points. This same Pitt team who lost to Rutgers a few days ago.

It is 8:30 AM the next day and Georgetown still sucks!

MSU Thursday night. McCaffery had an extended video session with the team and called them out for their lack of hustle getting back on transition defense. Fran also said he would change the starting lineup if it continued.
He also called out Marble and White for their lack of production.

The players then had a player only meeting. Tryong to re-focus. Hope it works against Sparty.
