M. Grenier steps forward and proclaims “once again, you have not chosen a majority”. He looks about as if to see if anyone will speak. He produces the sandalwood case and opens it showing a brace of fine wheel lock dueling pistols.

Ahem, Lathum clears his throat. “Pardon M. Grenier, but may I?” M. Grenier, nods in irritation and steps aside.

M. Lathum steps up and says “My good men, you don’t want to lynch me, I am just a man who loves life and am in a poor mood as my son is very ill, I apologize, but I do not look to make for an exciting fight today”. You all listen and think about it. He does have a point. M. Lathum goes on, “I love the Cardinal and wish to see us succeed in this endeavor to protect him, etc….”. As M. Lathum goes on, he sounds so convincing you agree to let him out of this lynch today. You wish him and his son well and look to M. Grenier, who says, “well, I suppose we can excuse you today M. Lathum, go and calm your nerves.

M. Grenier says it must now be Anxiety who must duel ntndeacon as he is the next vote recipient. M. Grenier produces the fine pistols and hands them to the combatants.

M. Ntndeacon takes one and M. Anxiety takes the other. Both men inspect the weapons and seem satisfied they are loaded and ready to fire. Ntndeacon say, “you will not best me M. Anxiety, I shall slice you APART”, spitting out the last word.
“You know nothing M. ntndeacon, take your place and bow before me, for then I will give you a quick and merciful death”.
“I will not bow to you, en guarde”.
M. ntndeacon spits on the ground and the men stand back to back. M. Greneir, says, “take 10 paces and wait for my command”.

The men mark off 10 paces and stop. M. Grenier barks “FIRE”.

Both men spin bringing up their pistol and fire almost in unison. M. Anxiety get his shot off first and you hear a thunderous double boom as both weapons recoil, smoke and sparks spitting forth. M. Anxiety appear to miss as the round slams into a wood door several paces behind M. ntndeacon. Although, M. ntndeacon fares no better, as his pistol fires an errant shot into the stone wall to the left rear of M. Anxiety.

M. ntndeacon castes his pistol aside as M. Grenier cringes watching the fine pistol hit the dirt and rocks. Ntndeacon closes quickly drawing his rapier as M. Anxiety drops his pistol and draws his own sword. M. ntndeacon dodges left and lunges past M. Anxiety as he tries to parry. Ntndeacon’s sword pierces M. Anxiety, laying open a gashing wound in his left thigh.

M. Anxiety dances back favoring his good leg. As the men close in a glint of flashing blades, M. Anxiety draws blood, a small wound on ntndeacon’s sword arm. The combatants continue to circle crossing swords as they look to feel out each others defenses. M. Anxiety dodges wide and manages to push off his wounded leg wincing in pain as he lunges, clipping ntndeacon on his left shoulder. M. Anxiety cannot recover quick enough as M. ntndeacon brings his blade down in a singing sweep across M. Anxiety’s torso. M. Anxiety falls to the ground blood ebbing in a heated pulse from the wound in his chest. M. Anxiety slowly leans back and closes his eyes forever.

Shocked, yet excited you grab M. Anxiety’s room key and rush to search his armoire. You find a red sash signifying service to the Cardinal. Oh no you have seen another brother slain. You look about and find a familiar document, a certificate of membership in the order of Chevaliers de la Reine, a secret society.

M. Anxiety was a Cardinals Guard and a member of the order of Chevaliers de la Reine, a secret society.

Figured you had a connection to CR. Unfortunately, you couldn't let it go. I duked him with an educated guess.

So either there is a lot of members of Chevalier de la Reine or they've been really unlucky.

Path mentioned guards with their own agendas, and fouts is the highest ranking player. Maybe thats it, the chevaliers want power from promotion...

could this group also be responsible for trying to frame Fouts?

also I don't feel like going back and looking up the translation again
what does "chevaliers de la reine" translate to?

So how many people in this game are able to avoid a duel? I can't believe we've hit on two of them already.

Total speculation: Feuding factions. The Reine and Fouts are in a power struggle....maybe one faction or the other is in line to succeed the cardinal and is not acting in our best interest? That might fit.

Dubb, I am hurt by this. I am not killing them, they are voting for me and ending up dead. While I chose one of them the first day, I do not take the blame for Anxiety's revenge vote on day 2.

I'm interested, maybe not right now, but defintely tomorrow, in how people interpret the dueling roles that Lathum and Fouts possess. Do you trust either of them? One more than the other? Why?

Again, I'm not sure that this conversation is terribly beneficial now but I hope people are trying to figure this out for tomorrow.

Nothing, just that they want me dead. I think it is from picking CR for lynch, but now I don't know.

I have a suspicion they can PM each other, like the masons. They seem to be a 3rd faction, which I am not aligned with.

Did you know they wanted you dead from the start, or did you find that out after picking Chief?

So, Lathum ducked his duel, and Anxiety died.

Somebody please explain to me why I get the blame for this, and Lathum walks scot free.

Why isn't Anxiety yelling at him for 5 or 6 posts like CR did to me?

Yeah, I knew this from Anxiety and Lathum's posts today. Plus Jonathan was all over me last night.

I don't know that Lathum and Jonathan are in that faction, but they haven't exactly disguised their feelings.

Looks like I am going to be the downfall of their entire faction. If we lose this one, at least I have that going for me.
