So that's probably the opening statement in his "greatest coach ever" argument.

And probably the opening statement in an argument for why Peyton Manning is a better QB than Tom Brady.

On the other hand, Belichick had pretty mediocre results as a head coach in 6 seasons before Brady showed up in his life.

But I'm happy to distribute reasons for the success however people want to do it. There's probably been plenty of QBs better than Brady, but it's a team sport, and at the broader level, it's a franchise sport. Kraft/Brady/Belichick has worked very well. If any one segment of that isn't as independently good as some segment from another team, so what. Most great teams have combinations of greatness from different sources. Russell and Auerbach wouldn't have been as great without each other either.

I've been a Belichick over Brady guy since the start of that debate. That said, yes it's the system, but the system was built and fine tuned around Brady's skills and ability. Not the other way around. Garoppolo has very similar strengths to Brady and it was no surprise to me that he could step in and do what he did. Same with Cassell, but I don't think Cassel was ever as skilled as Garrapolo is, IMHO.

Way to early to judge Brissett. If their running game wasn't working or the defense was merely mediocore last night, Brissett's game could have changed. He did certainly show what we've been hearing about the kid in NE, he is almost strangley unflappable.

Mallet is a guy that never really fit the system and I think if he had to step in for an extended amount of time he would have been a black mark on this backup QB stat people are throwing around with Belichick. They tried to take his physical skills and break him in to fit, but whenever he was out there it just felt a little awkard. He never looked comfortable.

Believe it or not, there actually was football before Tom Brady.
BB was 41-55 as a head coach from 1991-2000. I don't know exactly when Brady took over in 2001, so I left that season out for now.

So if we have to add these games into BB's career, that gives him 55-60 record without Brady and a 194-60 record with him.

In the modern climate, if a head coach had a bad run like that over 6 years, your head coaching career would be over. Unless you're Jeff Fisher.

Well he closed out his last season with a playoff win and then went off to be a coordinator on a couple of highly successful teams. I'm not sure that's a fair statement. As much as I love the Fisher dig.

McDaniels will almost certainly get another shot despite his shaky years as a HC

Given that its Cleveland, Brady probably would have had a season ending injury in his first game that would have affected his whole career.

Are you ready for this?

Jacoby Brissett of New England Patriots suffered thumb injury in win vs. Houston Texans

They're 3-0, no reason to start Garoppolo. I think they'll sign TJ Yates and start him with Edelman backing up again.

If Brissett is out for the season (and you could IR him for the roster spot), I could see that. If not, why would you bring in another QB from outside the system for one game? Garapollo was doubtful last night but not out. He has 10 days to get up to a good condition. And then Brady's back.

Cody Kessler's first drive, delay of game, then fumble. Miami recovered and would score later. Not quite the Patriots huh?

Nope. They're just bringing Pryor in for a couple plays here and there to mix things up. He looked good on the last drive until he threw a ball right to a Dolphins defender (who dropped it).

It certainly helps that he's in a great situation with Eli and Beckham and Cruz, but Sterling Shepard looks like a really good in the slot. I doubt he'll have the best career, but he might have the best rookie year of this class of receivers.

So the very bad Cardinals have showed up in Buffalo today, no first downs, five punts (and their punter got hurt). Just don't understand how a team can look so different game to game.

Today it is helping that the WAS defense is about as stiff as warm brie.

If the Dolphins can't beat the Browns today they should have the franchise rescinded.

What was that last play of the half by the Redskins? Cousins HAS to know the situation there; six seconds left, you can't start scrambling, you have to throw it away as soon as nothing was open.

Of course, with that said... as soon as I saw they were running a play I just knew Cousins was going to do something stupid.

The Broncos have had EVERYTHING go their way so far. Two 50/50 reviews which could have went either way, went to Denver. (this includes the only fumble in the game which was obviously recovered by Denver)

Cincy has also dropped two clear cut INT's. The last one likely would have ended up being ran back the entire way. Denver later scored a TD on that drive.

There is zero way the Broncos should be leading this game right now.

Barring a Denver mistake, I don't think the Bengals will score again.

I guess that's obvious... I mean a mistake like a turnover deep in territory or something.

I think they'll score again. Denver is special on D, but they have some holes that the Bengals are made for. Bengals just have to do a better job of exploiting them. I think they will.

Clear INT by the Redskins and the review monkeys get it wrong. Just scrap the system at this point.

I think the system gets far more right than wrong and has had a huge impact in games. It'll miss a call once in awhile, but I don't want it going anywhere.

The argument can be made that the QB playing in his first start has more poise than the QB making his 67th start.

The Bengals can go 3-3 in their first six and still be in good shape to make the playoffs. They play 4 road games in the first six and face the Jets, Steelers, Broncos and Patriots.

But, they are also showing that right now they aren't good enough to be in the top echelon in the AFC.
