Came into work and my boss told me she took me out of the conference call scheduled this morning knowing I was probably up late to watch the end of the game last night.

Can't say I don't have it good around here.

Back when the Wings were in the Western Conference it seemed like they always had at least one or two series against a West Coast team so 10 or 10:30 pm EST starts were pretty regular. As I got older it was harder and harder to wake up and face the day after a game, but that's part of the playoff grind!

Enough whining!

It will be interesting to see if the Blues can overcome being the Blues after last night.

The Wings didn't deserve, and were really never likely, to win the series, but they did deserve a better fate last night. Three straight first round exits after squeaking into the playoffs... Something has to change. The 25 year playoff streak is nice and all, but it's becoming a bit of a crutch for the organization, allowing them to declare the season a success because they "kept the streak alive".

Good lord. Losing to the 8 seed after a 3-0 lead will be the worst playoff performance in Caps history. Now that they've lost 2 the pressure for the next game or two will be unbearable and Neuvirth has been incredible.

That was one hell of a game by Neuvirth. They had no right even being in that game.

One at a time!!!

Would like to see a game 7 but I am more than happy at this point. The Flyers are playing with house money.

Penalty shot called in OT... but the game continues....

Not completely sold on that call though. The puck was out of the crease.

That was a quick two goals by the Stars to take the 4-3 lead

Whoops. Wonder if that finally gets the monkey off the Sharks back and they can make it out of the West now? I think they may be the most impressive WC team so far

I think Deboer's a better coach than McClellen's been in recent years, and they seem to play some younger players on the bottom lines

Also, the Pens are 20 minutes from sending the Rangers home

If Norman plays like he did last year its a good signing. I feel he's likely to disappoint though. Only one elite year (pretty average before that) in a contract year playing behind a really good front 7.

They made a good run, did better than expected before the season started and fought back when down in this one (or some of the team did). May need to file a missing person report for Giroux .

Overtime with one team's playoff life on the line, only an overtime game 7 is better.

Double overtime! Win this thing Islanders. The only East team left that I could stomach seeing in the finals.

Nice winner by Tavares.

Though I still see this in my mind when I hear his name (his uncle)...

End of Isles/Panthers regulation last night...I get the refs swallowing the whistle late in playoff games and in OT but not calling a trip which prevents a team from icing the game with an empty netter is really the opposite of the "let them play" that people spout off. It's like if instead of Tavares being able to tap in the tying goal on the puck just sitting in the crease, a Panther tomahawked him across the leg preventing him from getting there in time, and the refs not calling anything because they don't want to decide playoff games.

I don't even think they should swallow their whistles just because it's the playoffs. Rules are rules to me, no matter the circumstance. Not talking about this specific time or game, but in general. I've seen it in all the games I've watched.

+1, I think the entire concept of "letting the players decide it" is ridiculous. How is not calling certain penalties anymore letting them decide anything? Why not just let them 'roid up in the playoffs too? So dumb.

Game 7!

Will the Blues, once again, be the Blues?

Or will they exorcise their playoff demons and finally beat Chicago?

In my mind not making an important call is just as much of "the ref deciding the outcome" as making a bad call. I am all for the borderline calls not being made but to be honest that should be the norm regardless of the time of the game. Make the calls on penalties that could have affected the play and don't sweat the small stuff (similar to playing the advantage in soccer).

Just went to ESPN to check the scores and they've relegated the link for the NHL to a drop down menu? Even during the friggin playoffs they're edged out by Soccer and College Football. That's cold.

Nothing like a game 7 in the Stanley Cup playoffs. This has been a great game to watch as a third party.

Erhoff, Rozsival, Gustafsson, Rundblad, Svedberg. Blues win because Bowman gets Ladd at the deadline instead of getting a blueliner. Effing idiot.
