I don't think so. A handful of good titles, sure, but this isn't the quality of past sales yet. I'm ready to pull the trigger on more than a few games along with some gifts and nothing has really hit yet.

Already wading in with both Witcher games (though everyone likes the second one, I figured a buck and change on the first one was worth trying out) and the X-Com expansion. Just bought in on Papers Please since everyone raves about it and also the DLC for Shadowrun. As a bonus I actually netted a foil Summer Sale card in the deal and since I've got zero interest in doing any badge building this time, it looks like I can make at least three bucks back for it based on the going rate in the market.

Bought Papers Please, figured it'd be hard not to get $3 worth of entertainment out of it (was a flash sale item)

Assassin's Creed IV on a 50% off Flash sale for next 6 1/2 hours. Looks like any edition and downloadable content for the game is too.

So let me get this straight. Instead of posting this in the Steam thread, which we already have, or in the Game specials/discounts thread, which we also have, or even in the increasingly mis-named 2014 Games thread, ,we created a 4th thread for video games for the front page?

Really?

Yeah, it really ought to be merged with the steam thread if you are inclined to good housekeeping.

OK, so I own Dkyrim and Hearthfire already. Dawnguard and Dragonborn are now on sale for 9.99 each. But the "Legendary Edition" which has all the DLC comes in at 13.59.

If I buy the Legendary Edition will my saves have any problems sliding over?

I would not recommend buying Wasteland 2 here, I think it's going to be cheaper than $40 when it releases in August.

I would think you could simply move your saves folder over to the new installation folder (if there is one) or just back them up and put them back if the new version installs over the old one.

It actually just overwrites your Skyrim game adn throws whatever DLC you don't have installed yet on it. Not an issue for me. I was hoping for a sale and ended up getting them for 7 bucks each.

Absolutely, without question. You will 100% get $10 worth out of it, if the promises of supporting modding come true in the future, many people will get that value out of it hundreds of times over.

There was some discussion in the video games thread when it came out, I don't own it yet so I can't say myself, but my takeaway from the discussion was that I'll probably wait until $20, maybe even $15, to pick it up.

I'm not sure if anybody mentioned this elsewhere or not but I noticed just now that FM2014 is on sale for half price ($24.99) until June 30th.

I think FM14 has been $12.49 before so it will probably go that low during the summer sale on a daily or flash deal.

Not sure if have been posted before, but a very handy site where it lists all the lowest prices for games...great tool for looking across all the online sites from one place, including steam. Also contains some pricing history as you are trying to determine if a game might get to a price point you want.

I picked up Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning for 5 bucks. I've heard some good things (and some not so good) about this game but so far (just started) it's pretty cool.

Despite swearing I wouldn't grab another Greenlit game, picked up Prison Architect a few days ago. Pretty addictive little game, and very playable as-is.

If you get past the first couple "days" you will get your money's worth. There is a point in that game where it starts out with you thinking "why am I doing this" and then you reach a point where you go "hey, cool" and the game suddenly seems to have more depth than you first thought.

The depth issue hasn't bothered me nearly so much after the first bit of playing as simply how slow & incapable I seem to be. I'm pretty sure only getting through 4-6 "customers" per day ain't gonna cut it.

Without wanting to derail the thread, I think this was exactly why this was such a great little game. It's a genuine conflict of interest whether you try to go as fast as you can to make some money or if you take your time and get it right - and the family dynamic and the storylines just make it even more interesting as time goes on.

I don't know what they could possibly do to follow it up, but I'd love to see something else along these lines.

So far I've bought Papers Please, Call of Juarex Gunslinger, the XCOM expansion and Game Dev Tycoon (which I spent most of yesterday playing). Also picked up the XCOM bundle for my son for his account (which is more and more what I use the sales for). Almost bought Borderlands 2 and Skyrim, but I have so much backlog that I'm holding off. I know I will be getting them at some point, but I'll wait.

I have actually never purchased the Skyrim DLC for this exact reason. Any game that does this will find me not purchasing their DLC going forward as well. I simply do not understand why it cheaper to buy the entire game with the DLC than it is to buy just the DLC...this far after release. If they can mark the game with the DLC down that much they can mark JUST the DLC down more than they already are.
