Really? Did not know that. I just assumed that touching it was as good as landing in bounds. Was a damn fun game either way, I just wish FS1 did a better job of advertising.

The goalline is extended out of bounds only if some part of the player is touching in bounds or the player touches the pylon. Where the ball is at that point determines if it has crossed the goalline.

The receiver caught the ball at the front corner of the end zone; his left foot knocked over the pylon and was the first point of contact down on the play. The refs got it right - he had not established a catch in bounds.

Where folks are getting confused is the ball crossing the plane. If the receiver had first caught the ball in bounds and then reached the ball over the pylon, it would have been a TD, because he would have first established a catch, and from there it's a question of the ball crossing the plane of the goal line.

Yep... been happening for years. Ask KU about their "loss" against the Vince Young Rose Bowl team. Texas pays the bills, Texas gets the calls.

Utah State more than likely loses their QB Chuckie Keeton for the season. His knee completely buckled in the 1st qtr. He was jumping to get away and landed and it just gave way.

Its a brawl in Iowa City. Iowa goes down 10-0, then Rudock gets hot and goes 11/11 for 138 yards and 2 TDs in the 2nd quarter. Iowa up 14-10 at half.

In 2001, the Miami Hurricanes beat #14 Syracuse 59-0 and #12 Washington 65-7 in consecutive weeks.

UCLA beat #11 Texas 66-3 in 1997. Texas did go on to finish 4-7 on the year and it was with John Mackovic. They did have Ricky Williams however UCLA scoring 38 points in its first five possessions. There were 8 turnovers in all. It was 38-0 at halftime

Minnesota trying to make up for last week. Michigan is just kind of playing. Nothing going really wrong but not a lot going right either. Gardner didn't throw a pass in the first quarter. Funchess being moved to WR is paying off. It will be interesting to see how the second half goes.

It could be a lot worse for your teams guys. UMass down (only!) 14-0 to Bowling Green at halftime. Our defense has actually showed up to play the past couple weeks, Unfortunately, AJ Doyle, the guy NC State etc recruited as a LB because he can't throw an accurate pass, is his usual self at QB - 3-13 for 14 yards. We've now scored 14 points in 3.5 games vs. FBS opponents.

Funchess ends up with 151 yards receiving. Michigan wins 42-13 even though it was closer than the score would imply. Minnesota's coaching staff really didn't try to push their team in terms of pace when they should have. Gardner still needs to work on accuracy and Michigan's D still needs work as well. Jake Ryan coming back soon will help, but the youth in the DL is showing. Michigan changed up things on offense with Lewan playing a lot of TE. I guess playing 6 OL is one way to get your running game on track.
