Not that I really care THAT much, I'm glad that it was edited to be private.
Those of us who aren't in the "Trout" click and rarely vote probably didn't fully understood that our results would be easily viewed by anyone who happens to be in the thread as well. Last edited by Philliesfan980 : 11-06-2012 at 01:21 PM. |

Well at least you got the last one right edit to add: Although knowing our legislative history, both long-term & short-term, I figure they'll end up making us regret that vote sooner rather than later

People who can vote and don't vote should have their tax rate cranked to 65%.

I've read quite a bit and had decisions made on all the local races (lots, including some controversial state proposals), but I didn't know what I was going to do with the presidential race until I had the ballot in my hand.
Anyway, about 30 minutes to vote - made sure I got in there before the rush hour rush. Heaviest turnout I've seen by far - and this is a heavily Republican district. |

Shared that link & recommended it as a good central page. I like the organization of it, seems pretty streamlined to me. edit to add: Was trying to say thanks for the suggestion, realized I didn't bother to actually, you know, say it. So thanks.

I voted as I said I would all year. Having the Executive and Senate be the same party is very bad for the country, imo. With the Senate staying Dem, I had to vote Rep for the Executive. I would've easily done the reverse.

I really wish on ballots there were a straight "Fire Everyone" ticket. That's what I would've checked as opposed to have to fill in the boxes.

Basically, we got to pick between the guy who hasn't done much the last four years and the guy who wants to pretty much go back to the policies that got us here in the first place.
I voted for the guy that has us treading water, not the guy that swings by in his yacht & tosses us an anchor to hold on to. Domestically, Obama hasn't been that bad. He just hasn't been that good. |

That NYT sub-map for Change vs 2008 is pretty impressive.
Zoomable, '08 results by county on mouseover, red/blue arrows (pointing right/left accordingly) provide a visual reference for the swing.

Choice 1 - Took a near 1 trillion dollar debt and turned it into 16 trillion. Uses strong armed tactics "you are either for or against me" approach. Choice 2 - Took an olympic games that was going to run out of money and lose a bundle and turned it around to the point where they had a surplus. Was praised as governor for working with both parties to reach a solution. Seems like an easy choice. |

Except that both of yours are basically lies. Or at the very least ridiculously huge exaggerations. Seriously, Bush pushed our national debt to nearly 12 trillion (because yes, you DO have to count his unpaid war debts against him even if his bill didn't come in until 2009.) Strong arm tactics? really? Lets talk filibuster for a bit shall we? The Olympics were never, in any sense of the term, in danger of losing money. Romney's policies in MA were all but identical to Obama's. So yeah, lets roll with that. makes the President look mighty good there. It is an easy choice really. Don't give the keys back to the party that totaled the family finances in 8 short years. |

The Senate usually has the power in budgets, nuetralizing some of the craziness in the House version. Also, it is only the Senate that approves nominees. Also, I perceive that in legislative reconciliations between two versions, the versions end up being close to the Senate's. Finally, the Senate leaders are more powerful than the House leaders. Addendum: I would favor the Legislature both be the opposite party IF any President has the balls to veto. Checks and Balances. Last edited by Buccaneer : 11-06-2012 at 09:11 PM. |

Assuming this is of the two major parties (so no "I didn't vote" or 3rd parties), I'd guess Bush, Obama, Romney. EDIT: But it's a total shot in the dark. Going back to my point from a day or two ago, some folks wear their political identities on their sleeves and it's a huge part of who they are and what they believe in. Others not so much. And either way, it only makes up a portion of the composite of what others see. SI

Which was basically my point. I do not wear my politics on my sleeve and I wish more people were that way. That was my point of the comment on the poll. Then CF came with this "bah, everyone knows who people vote for anyways based on what they say". And I don't think that's the case with a lot of people, myself included. Your general thought process is right in that I don't vote on party lines fwiw. Your specifics are off, but I have voted for both parties for prez in the last 3 elections. Quote:
