It's pretty cool. The tour is about an hour or so long and like its name, it has some crazy things about it. There's also a small gun museum there as well. I think it's worth the price of admission. Everyone that I've taken has said that they really enjoyed it and thought it was cool.

Not sure I want to reveal what the actual 'mystery' is though. The mystery isn't the "why" she had all those rooms built. The story is pretty clear about that.

The mystery is (to me):
Spoiler

Once you get done with the tour, you can walk across the parking lot to go see a movie or go across the street to Santana Row for some shopping or eating.

Jack Churchill - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

British solider who fought in WWII armed with a longbow, bag pipes and claymore.

Quote:
In July 1943, as commanding officer, he led 2 Commando from their landing site at Catania in Sicily with his trademark claymore slung around his waist and a longbow and arrows around his neck and his bagpipes under his arm.[3] This was again repeated at the landings at Salerno. Leading 2 Commando, Churchill was ordered to capture a German observation post outside of the town of La Molina controlling a pass leading down to the Salerno beach-head. He led the attack by 2 and 41 Commandos, infiltrating the town and capturing the post, taking 42 prisoners including a mortar squad. Churchill led the men and prisoners back down the pass with the wounded being carried on carts with huge wheels, pushed by German prisoners.

I've done this hike. It's not an easy hike as the trail is generally crap so you're mostly left with boulder hopping around the creek. My legs were dead when it was over.

It's on my list of hikes to do eventually. I know the river crossing parts can be crap, but what I've heard is that once you get past those 6 or 7 crossings it's not that bad. Heh.

It's worth doing because it's cool to see when you get there. My issue with the creek part is that since you're not on a traditional trail, you have step up and over multiple rocks along the way. It was like doing a 2 to 3 hour step class.

If you are going to do the hike, do the bungee jump at the end. Very cool experience.

Also for God's sake bring torches for the hike back down, just in case. We went with Bungee America and by the time we were heading back it was pitch black and we had like 5 torches for a group of 80 people. I'm still amazed nobody got swept away. Mind you, this was in January or February. I'm sure it's nowhere near as bad in the summer if you were to go then.

Um, I'll pass on the bungee cording. But don't those people typically get shuttled in?

Shuttled in to where?

Unless you are talking about a helicopter, there's no road access into the bridge. It's a 6-7 mile hike for everyone.

I don't think that's entirely true, I have seen pictures with the bungee companies truck at the bridge...

weird, I know I have seen pictures with their truck at the site, but it says you hike to get there. WTF.

They have a large cabin there that we were told was dropped in by helicopter, I don't think there is any way you could get a truck there unless you can get in from the other (non-LA) side.

If a 7.0 earthquake ever hits the New Madrid fault line, Katie bar the door FEMA estimates a 7.0 would destroy 60 percent of the buildings in St. Louis and Memphis. Don't even ask what happens if another 8.0 hits.

This explains what happens to one of the stations I really liked in KC (810 AM) and why their signal sucked something fierce at night.

According to that list, we haven't had a president that is fluent in another language since FDR. That is a bit surprising to me.
