RIP Chris. You had amazing gifts and a world of troubles. I am saddened that you are gone so young.

Dying young and leaving behind children are what bother me the most. I wish for his family peace in this time of grief and I also wish that his children are given a positive environment. Rest In Peace Chris.

Sad day for the Henry family, the Bengals and the NFL. I never watched Hard Knocks, so I'll admit I never really knew what was going on with Henry. Glad to see he was turning his life around, but tragic how this one has come to an end.

RIP.

Stunning. I figured he would pull through. RIP Chris Henry.

I am sure we will hear more about what happened but I am wondering if the broken arm must have made him not be able to brace his fall. I wouldnt have expected this from a world class athlete falling out of the back of the truck unless it was going much faster than I am thinking.

Horrible news. I was never a fan of Chris's following his much-publicized trouble, but I don't think anyone would wish this on him.

In my experience you don't have to be chemically altered or even have a significant long term emotional disorder to do something stupid in the heat of the moment when there's boy/girl stuff involved.

I guess what I'm saying is that being "cleaned up" doesn't make him immune from momentary bad judgment in a situation like that, nor does that bad judgment necessarily mean he was messed up in any of his traditional ways.
Damn sure doesn't mean he wasn't, just that I don't think we can call it automatically.

Quite true. Men and women can do some REALLY foolish things when in an emotionally tense situation. Stuff that even the most messed up people may be like "whoa, wtf".

Anyway, RIP Chris Henry

RIP. Most talented WVU WR in my lifetime. Like Swaggs said, he was extremely shy early on at WVU. It's sad that his success came with so many problems. He just didn't seem equipped to deal with it all. And it's even sadder, of course, that he's gone.

It sucks to lose any player, but a former Mountaineer I watched a lot of really hurts.

I don't have a lot of good things to say about Mike Brown as a GM, but he deserves credit for taking the chance on turning Henry around. He didn't give up on Henry when everyone else had and it seemingly was paying off. It certainly doesn't always work, and I'm not sure it's good business, but Brown really sticks his ass out to try to redeem players.

Good point and actually refreshing to see. Even better is it seemed Henry was really stepping up and taking advantage of the opportunity, which makes this even more tragic.

Dude.. One of my favorite players, both for his talent and his turnaround. He was a bigger part of the offense than he'll ever get credit for, and could have been a number 1 in time.. Sucks.. Hope it makes the team come together and make history in Chris and Vicki Zimmer's memory.

Chad Johnson is pure emotion. Both good and bad. He thrives on it but when it goes the other way it can destroy him. I have no clue what to expect from him the next couple of weeks. I figured it would tear him up.

But if it doesn't I really can't say I blame them either. This fucking sucks.

What will Chad do next time he scores a TD? I could see him holding up 1 finger on one hand and 5 fingers on the other and pointing to the sky. I seriously see this happening the next time he scores.

Anyone see Jay Feely's twitter post?

Saw it on SI's Hot Clicks, "Chris Henry seemed to have turned his life around. But you can't live on the brink of destruction without inevitably falling off the ledge."

While I think most people think/say this, and it would be okay for a reporter to say it, you have to be stupid to say it as a player. It's only 15 yards for roughing the kicker. I choose Tank Johnson to pickup the penalty.

A few interesting tidbits from the 1st interview with the fiance:

Fiancee recalls moments prior to Chris Henry's death - ESPN

-"He jumped," she said. "He jumped. He jumped from the back of the car."

-"I think he thought maybe he was going to land. He was going to land right,"

-She also told Barr that she didn't stop because there was nowhere to stop on the road.

Something isn't right about that interview. It would make you think that they were all happy & smiling & wonderful. That he ended up in the back of the truck somehow and she doesn't know how, so she carefully drove at a slow speed to where it might be safe for him to get down, but for some unknown reason he jumped.

She may have been going a slow speed, but I'd imagine even a jumping out of the car at 15 MPH would be the equivalent of around a 8-9 ft fall off a ladder. Smack your head right and it could be lights out.

There's a lot of stupidity here if she's telling the truth. 1. Intentionally jumping out of a moving vehicle. 2. Deciding not to stop the car because there's "nowhere to stop" - how about just stop where you are?

I could really see an athlete thinking that they could jump out of a moving vehicle going 10-15 MPH and land more or less safely.
