If I understand it right, I think I could be added in split screen mode here as a guest (I haven't gone Gold) if needed for a 4th until another one comes along.

Yea, you can. Your son would be JonInMiddleGA and you would be JonInMiddleGA(1) or something like that..

I will be on tonight, but I will actually be playing Rock Band 2 with my wife. So I won't be on this.

But if you have another get together online another night, please let me know. I would like my first Left 4 Dead 2 online foray to be a bit.... gentler and forgiving than average, if you get me.

Thanks, and have fun.

Butter, I'm sure my son would be thrilled to pitch in on one if you found yourself with time & inclination sort of unexpectedly (and I could make a 3rd if needed). He's usually on most of the weekends & plays 'til midnight or later on the weekends, usually from around 8p-10p Eastern on normal weeknights. And he has to be forgiving ... after all, he's been stuck with me playing

Well I set a number of next-gen console gaming firsts tonight at least:
-- 1st time I've played anything co-op online
-- longest stretch ever IIRC on what is basically a shooter

And I discovered that my son's headset has a short in the cord somewhere (instead of the problems with it being intermittent like I thought)

That was definitely my longest game of L4D, 1 or 2 to date. And it was fun, if a little frustrating at times. We'll have to try it again sometime.

It looks like I could play tonight around 10 EST if you guys want to give it another go.

Has anyone tried the easiest level? Is it too easy? Going off of our first attempt, we might want to consider that option.

We did switch to Easy difficulty level, IIRC, after our 8th time dying trying to get through the mall.

That being said, I'm always up for more punishment.

Repeat after me: Left-Bumper. Left-Bumper. Left-Bumper.

Naturally we're unavailable, hopefully enjoying the Orange Bowl. And it's a school night, so my kid is AFK anyway.

I could play, but I'd be a total noob . I have it, but haven't even launched it yet. Didn't play the first one either.

That would make you a TOTAL noob, yes. But you can't be that much worse than I was the other night.

Heck, in some ways I wonder whether complete inexperience noobness vs having played the first one is much of a disadvantage beyond just getting used to the visual/the atmosphere/the universe/etc.

I wasn't great at the first one by any means but I was noticeably better at it than I am at 2, the difficulty difference is pretty significant at least for me.

Not just for you. L4D2 is, in general, much more difficult than the first one was.
