My recollection has always been that if the local team is playing at home, you don't get a second game at the same time slot, so if there is a blackout, you get nothing. I could be wrong on that.

That said, there's still a chance for a sellout. Last I heard the Lions were about 4,000 seats short. It's possible someone will step up and try to make it a sellout, at least for the home opener.

If this game doesn't sell out: home opener, new head coach, top pick overall QB starting, Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson... I am not sure any game will unless the Lions start winning.

The Lions got the 24 hour extension to try and avoid the blackout. There are about 1,700 tickets remaining. I don't recall the Lions ever receiving an extension and not selling out, so odds are the game will be on TV.

It's a sell out.

Lions/Vikings will be on local TV.

Weak, New Orleans - Miami won't be on local TV for me, I'm stuck with Atlanta - Dallas on Sunday afternoon. My one experience with streams so far this NFL season was a real pain in the ass, much more so than soccer which I watch on the computer weekly. I might wind up going to a bar for this game.

At least Minnesota - Pittsburgh will be on earlier, that could be a good one.

Great. Buffalo comes to Carolina in a late game on CBS, and Fox has the double-header, so I get that crappy game rather than the NED/TB tilt in London. Wonderful.

Any of the Chicago folks find RedZone in HD on Comcast? Maybe they added it recently? I gave up on it after the first couple of weeks.

I'll check when I get home tonight.

Edit: According to Comcast's lineup, they do have Red Zone in HD.

I don't think I get the red zone at all though.

It's part of the "Sports Package".

Here, you have to pay an extra $8 a month for that. I figured that it was definitely woth the $2 a Sunday to get the Red Zone Channel. I will just cancel the whole thing once the NFL regular season ends.

Yeah, that's what I thought (part of the Sports Package). Which is why I don't have it.

So how come the Kansas City area gets the Chiefs game on CBS but isn't getting any of the early games on Fox?

That seems weird.

Oh. Maybe I'm an idiot and those games are being played concurrently. The Oakland game is apparently a late game, and Oakland is blacked out of the other games on Fox, too.

Cause they are a primary affiliate for the Chiefs, and therefore there are no other games run vs the Chiefs time slot.

Maybe you should move to Jacksonville to watch your poopy Jaguars then. Oh, that's right, becuase their home games would be all blacked out!

Boom. Roasted.

You can't even roast someone else while being a fan of the Lions. If I were living in J'ville, nothing would stop me from actually going to the games but sickness and injury.

I'm assuming that it is Raider-blackout related, but the only late game for folks in the Bay Area appears to be Buffalo/Carolina. Ugh. The NFL claims to want kids to exercise more. Maybe this is part of that program--give people nothing to watch, and they will be forced to go outside and hike or something.
