We answer in thread, right? I've gotta say that team 2's drawing looks a lot like a spider.

Team 2... What do we think Team 1's drawing is? I'm thinking boat, but I don't know if we need to be more specific what with the anchor and everything. Maybe we just go with "boat"?

On team 1's drawing:
'Boat' or 'ship' seems reasonable. What about 'anchor'? The NE and SE both seem to have that in their picture. What NW and SW were trying to draw, I honestly have no idea.

Remember, at least 3 people from a team need to agree on a guess before it becomes official.

I'll rehost when I get home. I'm back in my office today and photobucket and my googlepages are blocked from here. Hopefully one of those will work. If not, I'll find something else.

I think we are clearly looking at some kind of boat, but I don't know if we need to be more specific. Anchors in two pictures gives us a pretty good clue, but what is the star-shaped object in the SE picture? Is that meant to be some sort of military insignia? The back of the NW picture makes me wonder if there is a point to the tall structure? I'm sort of leaning toward an aircraft carrier...or is that too specific?

I think NW was just going for a sail, and SW was going for a motor, which is odd... that all makes me think we should just say boat and just ignore the star shape thing, because really who the crap knows what that is.

Let me know if you guys agree, and we can enter our official answers.

I'm leaning towards 'ship' over 'boat', because both NE and SE seem to be aiming for a large object. But if the game host isn't going to be a pain about it, 'boat' should work as well.

I see an official vote from MIJB and Butter, but I don't think I can quite count what BrianD said as an official vote, if he clarifies it to that I can accept it as a guess.

Boat was the correct answer. Ship or any specific kind of boat would have been accepted as well.

$10,000 is added to the group pot!

Just need one more official from the other group to register a guess. Dissenting voices better get in there quickly!

Mission #2: Treasure Chess

The first step in our next mission is for each player to claim one of the chess pieces displayed below (basically, the back row pieces, no pawns--those last two are rooks). Just post in the thread claiming which piece you want. Each piece in the picture can be chosen only once.

Alrighty, that leaves Butter for the last knight.

For this mission you are going to place your 8 chess pieces on an enlarged chessboard (10x10 instead of 8x8).

The object is to locate as many of 15 different hidden treasures on the chessboard as possible using your pieces. You may do this with two moves: 1) placing your piece on any square on the board, and 2) moving your piece one time according to the rules of chess for your piece.

Once you have placed your piece on the board, you will find out if 1) you are on a hidden treasure, or 2) how many hidden treasures are reachable within one move for your piece.

There are 15 hidden treasures on the board. They are worth the following:

5 chests worth $5,000 each
4 chests worth $10,000 each
3 chests worth $15,000 each
2 chests worth $20,000 each
1 chest worth $25,000.

Placing your piece on a square with a treasure chest immediately adds that amount to the group pot.

Players may begin placing their pieces on the board at any time starting now. Once a piece has been placed, all players will see how many treasure chests are reachable by that piece in one move. Once all pieces have been placed, players may begin moving their pieces one time.

It is possible for one player to collect to chests on one turn. If a player collects two on one turn, that player gets another move, free.

Some tips: This mission definitely requires some discussion. You'll want to talk about what order people move in and what information you have after the placing moves have been made.

Alright... Thinking things through a bit, I think we should try to maxime our scope. The gut feeling says bishops in the middle, the queen as well and the other pieces near the sides of the field.

I'll go ahead and place my Rook at A1.

I will place the queen at F6. I don't want to be directly in the middle because I think we will all be close enough to get anything in the dead center of the board.

7 is a great score, that's almost half of the chests! It might be a good idea to put some pieces (bishop, rook) in the same line as the queen to narrow done where those 7 chests could be hidden, no?
