All sorts of stuff. There is the massive amounts of awesome food, just walking up and down the Strip can be a blast. There's the roller coaster that runs through and outside of New York New York, the lions at MGM, a trip to the top of the Stratosphere, where you can just look out, or take one of the scary as hell rides they have at the top. The Shops at Caesars have a ton of cool places, and the fountains at Bellagio are pretty cool to watch when they have their show.

There's definitely a ton to do besides just gambling.

Anyone ever stay at Treasure Island?

We are thinking of going to Vegas over Thanksgiving and it seems like a decent central location.

Stayed there about 10 or so years ago. It is a nice central location. For most things on the strip you may never have to do anything but walk. The rooms were nice enough. The only thing that I didn't like was related to where our room was. We ended up being all the way near the end of one of the wings. It seemed like we had to walk forever getting to and from the room.

The half-finished project would be the Stardust replacement - supposed to be called Echelon. The project's funding dried up and Boyd Gaming "temporarily" halted progress on it. In terms of the Strip, I've always enjoyed the Luxor, but slightly less now that they've stripped the Egyptian theme away from it...what's a pyramid without any Egyptian crap? My recommendation on non-strip buffets is Makinos at the Las Vegas Premium Outlets (between the Strip and Downtown). All you can eat Sushi. THe Wynn Buffet is pricey, but amazing. Samba in the Mirage is a great Brazilian BBQ. Of course, if you have a car, I would recommend staying at the Golden Nugget. It's like a Strip hotel for a great price, and Downtown has some little quirky things about it.

Does anyone know what the two outlet malls at the top and bottom of the strip are called? Are they both from Chelsea Premium Outlets?

North of the Strip is the Las Vegas Premium Outlets. South of the Strip you have the Las Vegas Outlets. Same company. It might be Chelsea, but I'm not sure. The Premium outlets are outdoors and attract a much nicer clientele, although the stores are essentially the same as the South outlets. I prefer the south outlets because they have a CD store that I can browse while the wife hangs out at Coach.

So friend and I were hitting Vegas this summer (almost certainly staying at IP) and I decided to do a little research to see what has changed since we last went. The only major thing I can really see is some sort of mega-center casino over by Monte Carlo. Is this thing cool and worth seeing or is it kind of lame like the Aladdin/Planet Hollywood/whatever new version it turns into?

CityCenter is pretty impressive, with the massive scale of everything. If you like Elvis, the Cirque du Soleil show was decent. It is worth at least a few hours check the new complex out.

Looks like I have two trips out there this summer. One is at the beginning of June for the HP Conference (and will try to get a WSOP event in) and then again in August for my uncle-to-be's bachelor party.

So it isn't like half high rise condos? I will have to check it out.

Can't wait to get me some IP sportsbook. I love the tiny sportsbook where there are only like two guys working and they get to know you and your (stupid) bets. Don't usually watch all the games there but definitely put bets down there have a few drinks at the bar while watching smaller games end.

I personally really like the Chandelier bar in Cosmopolitan for just having a drink, relaxing, and hanging out.

Going again next week. I love being within driving distance of Vegas.

My favorite random spot is the Ellis Island, behind Bally's. The 24-hour restaurant/brewery is cheap and quite good (including a $2.99 steak/egg special and $1 beers), and at 2AM, it really feels like old-timey Vegas. The sportsbook is tiny and smoky, but you can have the 1 attendee put anything you want on any TV and basically run the place.
