New screenshots look great. I am probably going to be looking into getting back into the on-line mode as it looks impressive.

Mizzou, if you have good owners, an OOTP on-line league is absolutely phenomenal. I highly recommend it.

It's a league with mostly established owners. They ran a league together on version 6.5 for 20 seasons over the course of three years.

He said he's got a couple of guys that he's a bit leery about. If you're on the waiting list, you may get a shot pretty quickly depending on how high you are on the list.

I've participated in a few online leagues, but I always seem to notice the same thing, every team is too good. Granted, the few leagues I've played in are a small sample size of what's out there, but I would like to find a league that is more like normal MLB, where teams struggle to piece together the back end of their rotation, have obvious holes on defense/lineup, bullpens are sketchy, etc.

6.5's interface is better than the post-SI versions IMO.

Last one I bought was 07. Don't plan on buying 10 as I have high hopes for DDS:Baseball.

Take a look at the UBL.

How can every team be too good? I bet if you averaged all the team records in those leagues, they'd come out to 81-81. Sounds pretty average to me.

Kinda surprised this isn't out yet, or at least an update about where they are on this. I just checked out the forums, and not only are they pretty slow, but there seems to be an increasing number of people wondering about the release, as opposed to the game. Not good.

First time in years I haven't pre-ordered. I said a few versions ago that I had a version that would work for me, period. I think this might be the year that's official for me. Nothing I see in the new version motivates me to buy it. It just looks like another year of grumbling at the UI.

No worries, the game is feature-complete and in the final stages of testing.

I would rather have a good game out of the box, than a beta testing debacle like we had with (some) previous versions.

I haven't pre-ordered either. I'm very interested in the revamped pitching system, but I'll see how it plays out before buying. If it doesn't work well, I'll stick with the latest version, which I still play quite a bit and have no complaints about.

I'm really excited to get started with OOTPX.. One small change that I'm really happy about is having the bar graphs to show ratings on the player card along with the number. Small thing but it will make evaluating players a little easier.

Hopefully with all those nice shiny bars, the player won't ask for 10M in extension one sim, get offered 8, reject it, and ask for 7.

What the hell could you have possible have said on your personal forum to get you banned on OOTP? I even searched your OOTP posts and didn't find anything. Short of having naked pictures of Markus, I can't figure out how you got banned.

I also love the passive aggressiveness. Like OOTP cares about his "I won't buy unless I'm allowed on the boards."

I still havent quite figured out why he got banned. I know there were some threads that got out of hand and as with any forum certain people dont always get along but I never really seen anything he did that crossed the line. Mh can be opinionated on certain subjects like a lot of people but was decent to 95 percent of the people on there so who knows. We have the UTBA boxing league going and he was fun having around.

He must have gotten on someones radar and that person looked for any reason they could to ban him.

I love how Andreas makes it clear that he was taking actions behind the scenes that were overworking the mods, but everyone judges the whole thing based on just the public posts and blatantly ignores what's being said in that thread...

Company forums shouldn't have an off-topic section if they're going to be pissy about fighting.

i'm not a real fan of seeing both a rating and potential for individual pitch types. the idea of having a predestined potential for an individual pitch type just seems wrong.

I mean, if 2 pitchers are drafted out of HS with identical average curveballs, I don't think there's anything in Pitcher A that intrinsicly makes him have a better potential curveball than Pitcher B. I would think pitchers improve their pitching arsensal because of (1) learning from pitching coaches or other pitchers (2) work ethic, (3) chance.

If it's anything like how current/talent works in OOTP 9, that can change. It might simply be a reflection of "this is how good it could be, extrapolating from current ability, given normal development," but doesn't mean that's the best it could ever be.

It'd be neat if there were a mentor effect with veteran pitchers or pitching coaches, though.

I'm -VERY- pleased to see this. Evidently Markus and Co really did read my 6.5 vs. 2007 Interface Thread on the forums and made notes from there.

Also will be getting a league together if there is interest. Probably real players. PM me if you might want to co commish. Attempt will be to be as reasonably realistic as possible. 15 day sims.

Clunky and the interface. It didn't feel like the interface from the previous ones.

And yes, I have played CM/FM, and those feel natural. The SI OOTP "felt" awful to me. The interface felt like work. Most disappointing games ever.

I agree with you on the SI/OOTP interface as it was a disappointment. Since its went back to OOTP8, OOTP9 it is much improved in my opinion especially with the manager short cut screen. I think I am most excited for this version as from the screen shots it looks like a huge improvement plus AI improvements were promised.

I personally love the game. It gets the most play of all my text sims by far. Sure it's not perfect but overall I feel like it simulates a world of baseball quite well. I keep coming back to it day after day, and with the new changes I know that the addiction will continue...

It's a fairly long story ... at the end of the day it started because I was a Republican. At 7:30 one night I quoted where a Democrat called me a dumbass ... I just replied that if he wanted to see a dumbass he should look in the mirror. I got up and went to watch a movie with my wife. I came back at 10pm and was banned. I had zero warnings at the time. I was told that I was asked to take my comments down by PM and that I argued with the moderator and then was banned. I was also told that in this 2.5 hours I was away that there were numerous reports on me about numerous posts I had made.

I was banned for 30 days ... I came back and stayed out of the OT thread for about a week ... then one night I posted a smiley face in one of the political threads. About 4 days later I blasted the OT forum on my own forum .... the next morning I was permanently banned. Andreas claimed that it was because I continued to post in a confrontational manner (evidently the smiley face) and that I was a jerk to the mods. I had one PM to the mod who temp banned me and it was very civil. BTW when I came back from being temp banned there were no PM's asking me to take the dumbass comment down ... also where the poster originally called me a dumbass was still there. I pointed out to the mod who banned me that two posters repeatedly called me names on there and nothing was ever done to them, I was told it was because they weren't reported. So I reported about 10 posts calling me anywhere from Jackass to a Hillbilly racist from West Virginia (not from WV BTW) ... that is where the stuff I did to cause the mods work behind the scenes came in. None of the posts were ever taken down or warned.

Here is a thread about it on my board

mh2365fansite.com • View topic - OOTP banning

It the HOFer banned thread he admitted that he banned me for something I wrote on my own personal board. Chris and I talked to Andreas about buying TBCB ... we were on his development team ... several of my own ideas made it into TBCB. I think he is a great programmer and a good guy but he is definitely holding a grudge for some unknown reason. I never bad mouthed either Markus nor Andreas or either of the games. Only thing I bad mouthed was the OT section. Completely deserved to be warned but somehow I am banned for life. Banned for life for posting a smiley and talking about it on a forum board I personally pay for.

The thing is other than my reporting a few posts ... nothing went on behind the scenes that included me. There were no hateful PM's sent by me or anything like that. I have noticed on that board that "behind the scenes" is a favorite excuse for warnings or banning.

Edit ... and sorry for bringing other board problems here =)

For the betterment of our own board, this convo should probably die right here, and let the thread get back on topic.

I wish the financials were more nimble. Not sure I'll get this one, most certainly not out of the chute, probably will wait a while like I do with WWSM for the kinks to get worked out first.

I would reluctantly agree, although I think the behavior of developers is certainly fair game since they get so much free publicity here and the whole support-small-developers thing tends to get so much love here.

Problem in this particular instance, and why I reluctantly agree, is that there's no way to definitively prove anything one way or the other, it all just ultimately comes down to which side/story we find more credible and I doubt there's hardly anybody here who doesn't already have that decision pretty much already made one way or the other. And playing he said vs he said just takes up space in the end, still comes down to the same gut call.

No. I had never heard of the game until 2004. And as someone who wants to try to discredit OOTPBB Id love to know what game you play other than maybe FM that is even close to OOTP.
