This is second night of FA right? not spring training or anything else correct?

I won't sim this morning.

With half of the league not playing anyway since the restart and persistent league file problems, it seems it might be time to consider something else.

While I can definitely understand how frustrating this is for you, I want to say that I really appreciate all the time and effort you've put into this. If you feel you're just not up to it, I don't think anyone would blame you. But I, personally, am completely willing to be patient and let things get sorted when they can get sorted, helping as I can, no pressure to get anything done on a deadline.

I'd rather have a week with no sim while we get things working than just letting it all go.

I just looked on the server and the FOOL.tar.gz file isn't there at all. I don't know where it went, but it was there yesterday when I updated the files.

So lemme try -- again -- to send another file up from the game and see if that works. If it's there, I'll let you all know and we can see from there whether or not it'll work for everyone.

Ok, so if you go in-game now, see if you can load the file within the game. It should be there, as it's on the server again now. That should do it. The .zip file is also updated with the same files contained within this update.

If we already sent up a file we don't need to do this right?

No, everyone needs to download this file.

It's the one dated the 4th of January that I meant to upload yesterday, know I saw on the server and that somehow wasn't there when you all went to get it. But I've created so many separate files that at this point, it's no mystery I'm confused.

My thought was to postpone things again until tomorrow. We'll get caught up eventually. I could meld FA2 and Spring Training together, as well. It doesn't matter, really. So long as it's working, that's the important thing.

Ok no problem. I'll have to do it in the morning again as I don't have enough time left this afternoon to go and re-do all of the changes that I made. I should be able to get a new file in by 9am or 10am EST tommorrow so no need to wait on me. I'm flexible though.

I update the file in-game now and it works fine for me, so you all should be able to get it with no problem, including images. I already see an export from Teach on the server, but no one else has one there yet.

But we should be back in business now.

Here's the schedule for the rest of the 2002 season:

Friday @ noon: deadline for exports
Friday sim: Free agency Day 2 and spring training
Saturday at 9pm (eastern): deadline for season exports
Saturday night: Season sim

The post-season sim will be Sunday if I'm around to sim the season on Saturday night. If I'm not, I'll post and give you a schedule, which will probably be Sunday or something. We'll figure it out, though. I just don't want anyone to feel like they have to be tethered to a computer for this, much less me.

Oh, so no export needed tonight then? Cool. I'll get it set before I go to bed.

I'll check the file now, though, to be sure that's working okay.

Shoot, went away for a bit. Hope you didn't go back in.

Anyway, I tried, and still got the same error message (just now, though, not back when you posted).

I'll go get the zip soon if need be, but I wanted to see if this works or not for sure before going to grab the file and eliminating any evidence of if we're making progress with the new files.

I suggest everyone download the zip file as I believe this will solve the problem. I had to change the FTP password and the directory path and so, I think that's the problem a lot of you are running into.

So if you download the zip, you should be good to go with download the files in-game from now on. Because it's working for me at home and I did the file at work, so...I know it works.

Terrific, DC. Thanks.

Check again for another export, though, before you run the sim tomorrow. I forgot I need to set the team up for spring training, too.

I ended up getting stuck doing work until about 1:30 last night with some late firewall changes I had to do so getting a late start this morning. I'll need probably 30-40 minutes to get the file and re-do my changes if that is ok.

With the new file I still get messed up messages and incomplete transaction logs (not sure if you are still wanting that info or not) Everything else looks like it should though as best I can tell.

ok done, thanks for waiting.

Looks like I have 5 or 6 allstar calibre Outfielders and very few infielders. Not sure if anyone else is in the market for a trade and looking for the reverse.

I appreciate that a lot. I'm just glad folks are still playing.

Alan, it says your file is corrupt. Are you using version 9.1.10, .11 or .12 of OOTP?

Dola, the corrupt thing usually isn't an issue with my file, it actually is usually an issue with your download of it or my upload of it.

Try to download my file again and see if it works the next time.

If not I'll upload it again

I downloaded it directly from the server and it was still a problem. A strange error code I'd never seen before. I deleted the export off the server completely. So export again and I'll try that one.

No luck when trying to import it again? I'm still loading up ootp9 to try another upload. I know when I was running sims from the hotel with a poor connection, I had corrupt files on half of the downloads each sim. I just tried multiple times and ended up getting them all to work correctly.

It might not have been your connection though, it could have been my side on the upload this morning

If so, I'll upgrade and re-export. it should keep all of my changes.

Yeah, I'm using 9.2.12, but the Chancellor said that it shouldn't matter. But that's probably the most sensible solution.

Well the links for the 9.2.12 were all changed to 9.2.13 on the ootp boards and none of them work right now.... time to try to figure out where the file actually is

The funny (is it really funny at this point?) part , after spending 5 minutes trying to find the new location, they just now edited all of the links to point to the location I found.

Ever get the feeling that something is trying to sap the fun out of life?

I forgot they released another patch 9.2.12. I just stop paying attention, because well...things worked fine, then he decided to try to "fix" stuff. Uh, right. Fix. Sure, whatever you say.

I wish it was that simple. I spent 60-90 minutes both times roughly on setting everything up (between the two times I had to re-do it). The list of changes would be a mile long. I guess if you need to continue then it seems my exports obviously aren't working you can just drop me as manager of Valdosta and put it on AI.

I don't know of anything else to try here on my end.

Well...don't quite do that yet. Lemme run through ST and see if, when you're able to download the post-spring training file, that you can see if you download it and export then. I was getting your exports fine until just this file, so I have no idea why it's not working, but I'd say just wait a file and see if that gives it before going away.

I'll see. I'm a little bitter at wasting three hours for nothing now. I'll probably get over it by next week maybe.

Playing with it more, I get replicate the error you are getting. I just export via ftp and import via ftp and I get your error.

If I try to export locally and then import from local it gives me the error "Could not import team"

I hate to say it but 9.2.11,12,13 may be pretty much the worst patches in the history of text sims.
