We also have an interesting 16 year old in our youth system. Robin Stapleton is a very pacy AM C with a great work ethic to boot and may end up becoming useful in due time.

Thanks DT.

Just made a little template in Photoshop, then insert the player photo on the left and write in the stats and description in Photoshop as well. Upload each profile to photobucket and I'm done. Probably takes about 3-5 minutes per guy to set up but it's nice to put a face to a name when doing up dynasties, at least in my opinion.

By the way, once I'm finished with the player profiles, I'll likely be changing the format of this dynasty from the current 'first person' perspective to a 'third person' perspective.

I went back and reread my Buffalo Sabres EHM dynasty (listed in my sig below) a few days ago and realized how much more I like to write from the media's perspective. It allows me to be much more creative with my writing so I hope anyone who is reading this doesn't mind the changeover.

We also have a number of youngsters in our system that play forward. Chris Bell is a natural Center Forward while Alex Edwards, Gareth Harvey, Phil Roberts and Paul Stannard are all pure strikers.

None of these players look like they have the potential to play at our level and will likely go unsigned when they come of age.

Dover Athletic Comes to Terms with Defenders Simmonds and Pearson

Dover Express
August 6, 2009 (Dover, UK) -
Dover manager Matt Bosela announced last night that the club had reached agreements with central defenders Sam Simmonds and Andrew Pearson, both of whom were here on four week trial offers originally.

The 19 year old Simmonds (pictured at left) was recently released from the Aston Villa academy while Pearson, also 19 and still nursing a neck injury, was part of the Brighton setup for three years.

"We're excited to get both of these youngsters under contract and look forward to seeing them compete in the Blue Square South this season", Bosela would say.

OTHER DOVER NOTES -

Bosela named Dean Hill as the team's captain once again for the 09/10 season.

"Dean is very well respected by everyone on the club and his work ethic and determination makes him the ideal role model and leader of the team", Bosela offered.

The signings of Simmonds and Pearson couldn't have come at a better time, as fellow central defender Lawrence Ball suffered torn ligaments after a robust challenge in training earlier in the week. Ball will see a specialist but Bosela would only say that the player would miss "significant time". A bit of digging by this journalist found that Ball may miss the better part of the season with torn cruciate ligaments.

A bit of good news to offset the Ball injury came when young midfielder Jerahl Hughes returned to full training on Wednesday. He should be ready to go, if needed, on Saturday for the opener against Bognor Regis Town.

Dover Dominates in Season Opener

Dover Express
August 9, 2009 (Dover, UK) -
In what had been billed as a close encounter, Dover Athletic trounced Bognor Regis Town 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at Crabble Athletic Ground in front of 1113 enthusiastic fans to win their season opener in the Blue Square South.

Zavon Hines, playing his first league game with Dover after agreeing to come on loan for the season from parent club West Ham United of the Championship, bagged a brace in his debut. The Whites got singles from fellow striker David Ball and defender Olly Schulz in the thorough victory.

Dover manager Matt Bosela was effusive in his praise for Hines, calling his performance "impeccable". Hines was named Man of the Match for his performance, which also included an assist on the Ball marker.

The manager also praised debuting fullback Jordan Collins, saying "he had a good, solid game and I expect to see more of the same down the line."

The Whites dominated possession from the outset and didn't allow a single shot on goal for the entire match.

Dover's next game will be played next Saturday against Hampton & Richmond at Beveree Stadium near London.

OTHER DOVER NOTES -

The team announced that right fullback Michael Kay had agreed to contract terms. Kay was with Dover on a four-week trial and obviously impressed team brass enough to earn a contract.

Bosela also announced that former trialist Ross Hepburn had officially signed with Darlington from Coca-Cola League Two and an overture to the team regarding a possible loan was flatly rejected. Bosela indicated that he may not be finished in the transfer market, saying "we can still use some help in our midfield, especially down the middle."

Dover to Face Hampton & Richmond in Blue Square South Clash

Dover Express
August 14, 2009 (Dover, UK) -
Dover Athletic FC look to extend their early season success as they head to Beveree Stadium to face Hampton & Richmond Borough tomorrow afternoon.

Hampton is coming off an opening week scoreless draw against Basingstoke and are slight favourites against the Whites despite Dover's convincing 4-0 home win last week against Bognor Regis Town.

Hampton play a defensive 5-3-2 and the narrow pitch at Beveree will force the Whites to try to break their opposition down up the middle, not their strength.

Central defender Andrew Pearson is fully fit after nursing a neck injury and may make the gamesheet for tomorrow match, which kicks off at 3:00pm.

OTHER DOVER NOTES -

Dover chairman Jim Parmenter announced earlier in the week that the club had sold 249 season ticket packages this year, up over 150% from last year when only 100 were sold.

"I'm thrilled at the support that the local community has shown for our club and it seems interest is at an all-time high after our promotion", Parmenter said.

"We hope to keep the momentum going and I'm very satisfied with the the way things have progressed early in the season."

The club has also transfer listed recent signing Kevin Halliday. Halliday has been outspoken in the media about some possible harmony issues in the locker room but Parmenter and Dover manager Matt Bosela both downplayed his comments.

Dover Has a Ball in Win over Hampton

Dover Express
August 16, 2009 (Dover, UK) -
They've only played two games together but Dover's devastating duo of David Ball and Zavon Hines already are making a name for themselves in the Blue Square South league.

Ball bagged a brace in a three minute flurry and set up strike partner Hines on another to lead the Whites to a 3-2 win over Hampton and Richmond Borough in front of 583 disappointed supporters at Beveree Stadium in Hampton.

Jez Mitchell and Ian Hodges notched singles for Hampton late in the contest to make things interesting. Dover would benefit when a shot in the last five minutes was fired off the woodwork but safely deflected away from harm to seal the Whites second win in as many contests in the BSS.

The 19 year old Ball is just happy to contribute after spending the last three years in the Manchester City academy.

"The manager here has shown a lot of confidence in us (Ball and Hines) upfront and the system he implemented is pretty dynamic", Ball said.

"We are scoring quite a lot of goals and I just hope I can keep contributing throughout the season and help prove the naysayers wrong about our chances of success."

Another defender went down to injury late in the game, as Olly Schulz suffered a twisted knee. He gamely fought for the remaining ten minutes of the match, as the team had utilized all of its available reserves prior to the injury.

"I spoke with our physiotherapist after the game and he says Olly will miss the next two to four weeks", indicated manager Matt Bosela.

"Thankfully, we have able cover now that Andrew Pearson is back to full fitness."

The Whites don't have much time to celebrate the victory, as they will hit the pitch once again on Tuesday night at home versus Bath. Game time at Crabble Athletic Ground is 7:30pm.

OTHER DOVER NOTES -

The Dover U18 squad won their first league contest of the year yesterday afternoon, upending Weston-super Mare 1-0. Big defender Martyn Kenyon was the man of the match in a sterling performance.

Dover to Battle Bath City in Top of Table Tilt

Dover Express
August 18, 2009 (Dover, UK) -
It's early in the season but already, Dover Athletic are looking at a big measuring stick game in the Blue Square South.

The first place Whites welcome second placed Bath City to Crabble Athletic Ground tonight. City is coming off a 1-0 win over Bognor Regis Town in their last match and are a perfect 2-0-0 on the season. Their goal differential is two back of Dover in the early battle for top position in the BSS.

Bath play a traditional, defensive 4-4-2 and will rely heavily on 26 year old striker David Gilroy, a 17 goal scorer last year for City and he already has one this year.

Olly Schulz twisted his knee and will be out of the lineup for a couple weeks at least. Recent signing Andrew Pearson, now fully fit after a preseason neck injury, is expected to start his first league game for Dover in Schulz' place.

Dover Athletic Continue Winning Ways

Dover Express
August 19, 2009 (Dover, UK) -
The versatile Jon Wallis has been on the outside looking in thus far for Dover, just looking for an opportunity to get in the lineup. On Tuesday night, he got his chance and with it, may have solidified a more permanent place in the starting eleven.

Wallis (shown at left) started in the central midfield spot normally occupied by Sammy Moore and notched two assists to help lead the Whites to a 2-1 win over Bath City to maintain their position at the top of the Blue Square South table.

The tremendous young strike force of Zavon Hines and David Ball accounted for the goals, with Hines scoring only 19 seconds into the contest, a new Dover record. Jason Wood replied early in the second half for Bath City's only goal.

Wallis was inserted into the lineup in place of the ineffective Moore, who has been openly criticized in the press and by Dover supporters for not bringing enough to the table over the course of the preseason and the first two regular season games.

"Sammy knows he needs to step up his game and his work ethic", manager Matt Bosela said after the game.

"He's a talented lad and we're going to get him in our Reserve team match tomorrow to help build up his confidence. We'll need him at his best if we're to meet our goals this year."

When asked if the team's goal is an unlikely promotion bid, Bosela would only smile and say "next question".

For his part, Wallis was just happy to get a chance to contribute to the team's good fortune early in the season.

"It was nice to get a start and help get the team a win", Wallis said.

"All I can do is play hard and make it difficult for them to take me out of the lineup."

Another big crowd was on hand at Crabble Athletic Ground to witness Dover maintain their hold on the top spot in the BSS, with almost 1300 supporters in attendance. The Whites are back in action again on Saturday afternoon as they head on the road to play Maidenhead United. Game time is 3:00pm on Saturday and the team coach will have about 15 seats available for supporters. Call the team's secretary for details.

The Whites to Do Battle with Maidenhead United

Dover Express
August 22, 2009 (Maidenhead, UK) -
Dover Athletic look to extend their winning streak to four games as they travel to York Road to face early relegation candidates Maidenhead United.

Maidenhead opened their season with a 3-1 loss against Bath but have put together two scoreless draws in their last two appearances. The club plays a very defensive style and a narrow pitch will force the Whites to play up the middle, something out of their comfort zone.

"They are a desperate team right now, even this early in the season and I expect United to come out with a determined, patient approach", indicated Dover manager Matt Bosela.

The Whites do catch a break, as one of their top players and their only goal scorer this year, Richard Pacquette, is out with a viral infection. They will also be missing starting left fullback Narada Bernard, who is out with a strained neck.

Dover have some injury issues of their own but none of their starting eleven are affected. The Whites will continue to rely heavily on the deadly strike duo of David Ball and Zavon Hines, who are singlehandedly taking the league by storm, with four goals apiece through three games.

Game time at York Road is at 3:00pm. The game can be heard on DAFCradio at the club's official website.

OTHER DOVER NOTES -

The Dover reserve team battled to a scoreless draw on Wednesday night against Weston-super-Mare. Defender Matt Fish had a superb game and was named man of the match, dominating the opposition in the air. Veteran midfielder Alan Pouton suffered a knock in the game, bruising a rib. He will miss 1-2 weeks.

Binns Blunder Leads to Dover Win over Maidenhead

Dover Express
August 23, 2009 (Maidenhead, UK) -
A David Ball cross was accidently headed into the Maidenhead net by United midfielder Dale Binns and accounted for all of the scoring in a drab 1-0 win for Dover Athletic on Saturday afternoon at York Road.

Transfer listed backup goaltender John Whitehouse (pictured at left) got his first league action of the season and had a clean sheet, seeing only three shots directed his way, all of them missing their mark.

Maidenhead, as expected, went into a defensive shell early and the tactic was actually quite successful, with the Whites having tremendous difficulty breaking down their opposition.

"We knew they'd come out with a narrow formation to keep us to the outside", indicated manager Matt Bosela.

"It made it very difficult to penetrate into the box and we had to preach patience as a result. It certainly wasn't the most exciting game but anytime you can get all three points away from home, you have to be satisfied."

Only 241 Maidenhead supporters turned out at York Road, something that wasn't lost on Bosela.

"We feel very fortunate to have such rousing support during our home games", he said.

"The players get a bit more jump in their step when they hear the fans rooting them on so we definitely have a bit of an advantage when playing at Crabble."

The Whites currently lead the league in average attendance.

Dover is now two points clear at the top of the Blue Square South table with a perfect 4-0-0 record. Their next match will take place on Saturday August 29th, when they welcome Basingstoke Town to Crabble Athletic Ground.

Dover Looks to Make it Five Straight Against Basingstoke Town

Dover Express
August 29, 2009 (Dover, UK) -
Dover Athletic FC will welcome Basingstoke Town to Crabble Athletic Ground this afternoon in a battle of teams near the top of the table in the Blue Square South.

Basingstoke currently sit in 7th place on the table behind three draws and a convincing 3-0 victory over Bath last weekend.

Dover manager Matt Bosela knows his team will have to be at their best if they are to continue their winning ways.

"Frank (Gray - Basingstoke manager) always has his club ready to play", Bosela said.

"They are well organized at the back and are a tough team to break down."

Bosela was asked about Basingstoke's central midfielder Jerome Maledon by the media, who consider him to be a threat in the match.

"I suppose I agree with that", Bosela would say.

"However, in my eyes, it's striker Keith Rostill that presents the biggest threat. We'll have to find a way to contain him if we're to be successful in our forthcoming encounter."

Dover, of course, has won all four games in BSS play since being promoted and sit two points clear at the top of the table. The Whites once again will be without the services of Lawrence Ball, Alan Pouton and Olly Schulz, all of whom are battling injuries. Ball's is the most serious and he will likely miss the entire season after tearing cruciate ligaments.

Game time on Saturday is 3:00pm at Crabble Athletic Ground.

OTHER DOVER NOTES -

The Dover reserves once again battled to a scoreless draw, this time against Bognor Regis Town's reserve squad. Matt Fish was again named Man of the Match for his performance while Sammy Moore continued his struggles. The big moment in the game was when Dover defender Kevin Halliday was given a penalty kick after being pulled down in the box but he hit the goalpost on his attempt.

The Whites also announced that they have signed youth team member Martyn Kenyon to a pre-contract deal that will keep him with Dover until June 30, 2012. The big defender has been a force in youth team games, especially in the air.

James Shines in Dover Win

Dover Express
August 30, 2009 (Dover, UK) -
Recent signing Kevin James fired in a rocket midway through the second half to lead Dover Athletic to a solid 1-0 win over Basingstoke Town at Crabble Athletic Ground yesterday afternoon in front of 1347 supporters.

James took a gorgeous cross from left fullback and team captain Dean Hill and one-timed a left footed blast into the goal. It was James' first league goal with the Whites.

"It's nice to finally get my first with Dover", an elated James said after the game.

"It's a great group of guys we have here and I'm really pleased with how we're playing early on."

Dover dominated possession and were unlucky to not score more than the single marker.

There was some sobering news, however, when stellar striker David Ball suffered an injury in the first half. He fought gamely until substituted in the 64th minute and was diagnosed after the game with a bruised rib.

"It looks like David will miss the next week or so of training", indicated manager Matt Bosela.

"Thankfully, we don't have a league game for two weeks so I hope he's ready to go when we next take the pitch in league play."

Bosela couldn't say whether Ball would be ready for the team's next match, a Setanta Shield tie against Hampton & Richmond, which takes place in eight days.

Alfreton Town Sign Sammy Moore

Dover Express
August 31, 2009 (Dover, UK) -
Alfreton Town FC have picked up midfielder Sammy Moore in a £2000 transfer deal with Dover Athletic.

Moore played a little over a year for Dover, with stops at Stevenage, Brentford, Ipswich and Chelsea also on his resume.

Moore had two goals and seven assists in 35 league appearances with the Whites.

"We made this deal with mixed emotions", indicated Dover manager Matt Bosela.

"Sammy is a wonderful young prospect but he was having a hard time breaking into the first team this year. He agrees that the transfer to Alfreton is a great opportunity for him as he develops his skills in a first team environment."

The youngster was subject to the boo-birds at Crabble Athletic Ground early this season, as he was putting forth lackluster efforts on the pitch, something that likely lead to his being transfer listed in the first place.

Dover Dominate BSS Awards in August

Dover Express
September 1, 2009 (Dover, UK) -
It seems that there are perks that come with a perfect 5-0-0 start to the season.

Dover Athletic striker David Ball wowed supporters at Crabble Athletic Ground in August, scoring four goals while adding two assists in five league appearances to win the Blue Square South Player of the Month Award.

It was also announced that new skipper Matt Bosela was the BSS Manager of the Month for August, a Dover brace if you will.

Ball, for his part, downplayed the accomplishment.

"It is a tremendous honour, to be sure, but at this point I'm just concentrating on getting back to full fitness so I can continue to help us win games", he said.

Bosela much preferred to talk about his young stallion up front rather than himself.

"David took a few games to get going in the preseason but he has been aces over the past month. He's got a bright future in football and I look forward to watching his progress with our club."

Dover Set to Clash with Hampton & Richmond in Setanta Shield

Dover Express
September 8, 2009 (Hampton, UK) -
For the second time in just weeks, Dover Athletic will be heading to the London area to face Hampton and Richmond Borough. This time, they will be facing off in the first round of the Setanta Shield.

Dover won the first match between the two clubs by a score of 3-2, with David Ball bagging a brace. Ball is training after suffering a bruised rib in Dover's last contest, a 1-0 win over Basingstoke but won't start in this contest. He'll be available as a substitute, however, as he works back toward being match fit.

Hampton is struggling near the bottom of the Blue Square South table with 5 points while the Whites are two points clear at the top with a perfect 5-0-0 record.

Dover manager Matt Bosela is quietly confident of his team's chances but says "we'll have to continue to work hard for our chances. If we keep up our work ethic, we have a very good chance of getting a positive result."

Oddsmakers agree, installing the road Whites as decided favourites in this contest.

Gametime at Beveree Stadium is 7:45pm.

OTHER DOVER NOTES -

The Dover reserve team finally scored a goal for the first time this year and as a result, came away with a 1-0 win over Team Bath's reserves. Striker Shaun Welford scored the only Dover goal.

The Dover U18 team also won by the same scoreline over Newport County's youth squad. A Phil Roberts goal in the 85th minute sealed the win for the White's U18s.

Veteran midfielder Alan Pouton continues to be stung by the injury bug. Just as he was getting back to full fitness after a bruised shin, it was discovered that he came down with a nasty case of the flu. The team has sent him home for a week to recover so he doesn't infect the rest of the squad.

Central defender Olly Schulz is back in training after suffering a twisted knee a couple weeks back. He will not see action in today's game, instead taking part in tomorrow's reserve fixture in an attempt to regain match fitness.

Crashing Down to Earth: Dover Humbled in Setanta Shield

Dover Express
September 9, 2009 (Hampton, UK) -
It was bound to happen sooner or later.

Dover Athletic had been playing superlative football through the early part of the season but there always ends up being a bit of a letdown at some point. The Setanta Shield South first round matchup against Hampton and Richmond Borough certainly qualifies.

Dover was run ragged all day by the opportunistic attack of Hampton and were humiliated 3-0 in the contest, unceremoniously getting ousted from the competition in their first game.

Man of the match Ian Hodges bagged a brace for the home side and an embarrassing own goal by Kevin James finished off the scoring.

"We put up a stinker, that's for sure", offered Dover manager Matt Bosela in the post game press conference.

"The players did not perform but I take full responsibility for their actions on the field. I think we were too overconfident coming in, perhaps putting a bit too much into what the press were saying about us."

He would conclude by saying "The game plan wasn't the best upon hindsight. We should have been a bit more methodical with our approach as opposed to going full out. A much more measured style perhaps would have worked better but Hampton & Richmond certainly deserved to move on. It was a good performance for them and an extremely disappointing effort on our part."

The Whites will next look forward to the second round qualifying draw for the F.A. Cup, which takes place next Monday.

Dover will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, as they head to Eastbourne Boro in a Blue Square South matchup. Game time at Priory Lane is 3:00pm.

Dover to Face Eastbourne Boro in BSS Matchup

Dover Express
September 12, 2009 (Eastbourne, UK) -
Dover Athletic will look to bounce back from a humiliating defeat in the Setanta Shield competition when they face Eastbourne Borough in a Blue Square South matchup at Priory Lane later this afternoon.

The Whites are still at the top of the table with a perfect 5-0-0 record but confidence may be shaken somewhat after a 3-0 loss to Hampton & Richmond on Tuesday in the Shield tie.

Eastbourne currently sit in 6th position on the table, with three wins and two losses to their credit. They are led up front by four goal man James Poole and the team has ten goals on the season thus far, just one behind Dover for the league lead.

The home squad play a defensive 4-4-2 so the Whites will have to play a much more thoughtful game than they did on Tuesday night if they are to get a result.

Reports suggest that there will be a number of changes to the starting eleven for Dover after the embarrassing loss the other night. Olly Schulz is fully fit and expected to play in the middle of the defense and striker David Ball is also expected to start after coming on as a substitute in the Shield tie.

Gametime at Priory Lane is 3:00pm.

OTHER DOVER NOTES -

The Dover reserves, on the strength of a brace from Frannie Collin, took a 2-1 decision over the Welling United reserve squad. That result moves the Dover reserves into 4th place i the English Reserves Group 10 table.

Ball Turns Trick in Dover Triumph

Dover Express
September 13, 2009 (Eastbourne, UK) -
In a scorching performance, Dover striker David Ball scored three goals to lead the Whites to a thrilling 3-2 win over Easbourne Borough at Priory Lane on Saturday afternoon.

With the score tied at two, Ball headed home a Sam Sheridan corner to seal the victory in the 68th minute.

James Poole scored both Eastbourne markers and was dangerous all game long.

"David Ball was a joy to behold today", Dover manager Matt Bosela enthused.

"We obviously missed him in our Setanta Shield tie and I'm just happy he's back to full fitness. He is so good at getting into space and our opponents obviously had a tough time marking him today."

Ball now takes the goal scoring lead in the Blue Square South with seven. Dover also extend their lead in the BSS table to four points over Weston-super-Mare.

There was a negative in the contest, as centre half Olly Schulz reinjured his knee and had to be stretchered off the pitch. Reports suggest he could miss up to a month of time as he rehabilitates.

Dover will be back in action next Saturday, as they will host Ramsgate at Crabble Athletic Ground. Game time on Saturday is 3:00pm.

Dover Sign Aaron Downing; Draw Dartford in FA Cup

Dover Express
September 15, 2009 (Dover, UK) -
Manager Matt Bosela announced last night that the Whites had signed Trinidadian and Tobagan midfielder Aaron Downing (shown at left) to a contract.

The 21 year old Downing was recently released by Sheffield United of the Championship and has seen loan spells at Belgium club Royal White Star Woluwe and most recently, Hungarian side Ferencvaros.

The club will have to wait for his services, however, as he'll need a work permit before suiting up for Dover, something seen as a mere formality at this point.

Downing adds depth to a relatively weak left side that currently sees James Simmonds as the starter.

The FA Cup 2nd Round draw was also held last night and Dover drew Ryman Premier Division outfit Dartford in a game to be played on Saturday September 26th at Crabble Athletic Ground.

Dover Continue Signing Spree; Lock Up Beswick

Dover Express
September 18, 2009 (Dover, UK) -
The Whites continue to stockpile left midfielders, coming to terms with 21 year old Ryan Beswick yesterday evening.

Beswick has played his entire career with Leicester City and the pacy winger adds more depth to the left side for the Whites.

"We were really lacking options on the left side with only James Simmonds and Jerahl Hughes really comfortable there", indicated manager Matt Bosela.

"Adding Aaron Downing earlier in the week and now Beswick gives us much more of a safety net."

Bosela wouldn't comment when asked if this signing means that another player will move to the transfer list.

OTHER DOVER NOTES -

The Dover reserve squad battled the Farnborough Reserves to a 1-1 draw at Cherrywood Road on Wednesday. Frannie Collin continued his recent hot streak with another goal.

Dover Big Favourites in Home Matchup Against Ramsgate

Dover Express
September 19, 2009 (Dover, UK) -
The first place Whites host fellow promotion brothers Ramsgate this afternoon at Crabble Athletic Ground.

The Rams come into the contest as decided underdogs, having won two games and drawing one in six contests to place 14th on the table.

The Whites are undefeated in league play thus far with a perfect six wins in as many games.

There is no overconfidence in Dover, however.

"We will come out hard and I expect a good performance from the lads tomorrow", indicated manger Matt Bosela.

"We were humbled against Hampton in the Setanta Shield when we got a bit full of ourselves and there's no way we're going to let that happen again. The Rams have a strong side and will be tough to break down so I expect a tough match."

The Whites will be without the services of young center half Andrew Pearson, who suffered a severe hamstring pull in the Whites reserve match on Wednesday. He is expected to miss close to a month of action and joins fellow center halfbacks Olly Schulz and Lawrence Ball on the injury list. Matt Fish is expected to fill in for Pearson.

Game time at Crabble Athletic Ground is 3:00pm.

Ball and the Whites Stay Hot Against Rams

Dover Express
September 20, 2009 (Dover, UK) -
Molten hot striker David Ball bagged another brace and defender Matt Fish netted his first of the season as Dover Athletic defeated Ramsgate 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at Crabble Athletic Ground.

Rams captain Warren Schulz scored deep into injury time in the second half to ruin Darren Behcet's clean sheet aspirations. Dover moved to a perfect 7-0-0 on the season in the Blue Square South but their manager wasn't in the most complimentary of moods after the game.

"To be honest, I wasn't entirely satisfied with our performance", Matt Bosela stated plainly after the game.

"We lost a number of battles on the pitch and the Rams controlled the majority of possession, something I don't like to see when we're at home. I feel the scoreline flattered us tremendously and we'll have to guard against complacency going forward."

Dover maintain a four point lead at the top of the table while the Rams fall to 16th position in the BSS.

Injuries continue to mount for the Whites, as young Irish midfielder Sam Sheridan suffered a bruised shin following a strong challenge late in the match. Team physiotherapist Mark Garner indicated Sheridan will likely miss a week or two of action and will likely miss next weekend's FA Cup qualifier against Dartford.

Dover will be back in action on Tuesday evening, as they travel to Avenue Stadium to face Dorchester Town in a weekday BSS tilt. Game time on Tuesday is 7:45pm.

OTHER DOVER NOTES -

Attendance at Crabble Athletic Ground was 1344, just three people short of the team's season high. Dover lead the league in average attendance with 1275, over 200 more than Chelmsford, who are in second with 1073.

The Dover U18 squad defeated Northampton U18s 2-1 on Saturday at Sixfields Stadium in the Under 18s Cup Second Round on Saturday afternoon in extra time. Striker Paul Stannard scored in regulation and midfielder Tony Simpson scored on a penalty kick in the extra frame to seal the win for Dover. The Whites will face the winner of a matchup between Grimsby Town and Preston North End in the third round.

Banged Up Whites Head to Avenue Stadium to Face Dorchester Town

Dover Express
September 22, 2009 (Dorchester, UK) -
The injury riddled Dover Athletic FC head to Avenue Stadium to take on Dorchester Town in a Blue Square South midweek contest.

The first place Whites come into the game as slight underdogs, even with a perfect league record. The oddsmakers may believe the club's injury problems will finally cause issues on the pitch, as young Irish midfielder Sam Sheridan joins defenders Olly Schulz, Lawrence Ball and Andrew Pearson in sick bay.

Meanwhile, Dorchester Town is on a solid run of form, having gone undefeated in their last five league games, with three wins and two draws. The Magpies are currently sitting in 8th position on the table, 10 points behind Dover.

Their club is led by forward Barry Conlon and attacking midfielder Michal Dolinajec, both of whom have four goals on the season.

Dover manager Matt Bosela knows that his team will have to play a more conservative game due to injuries and fatigue, as they are in the midst of playing three games in seven days.

"The lads are in good shape so I'm not overly concerned with fatigue", he said.

"However, I have to be mindful of the fact that we just played three days ago and we also have a big FA Cup tie on the weekend so I'll have to watch closely for a drop in form. It will be a tough match."

Game time at Avenue Stadium is 7:45pm.

OTHER DOVER NOTES -

The application for a work permit for recent Dover signing Aaron Downing was turned down. The club has appealed the decision and will find out the results of that appeal on Friday.

Dover Hold on to Draw Dorchester Town

Dover Express
September 23, 2009 (Dorchester, UK) -
Dover Athletic overcame a late game red card to goalkeeper Darren Behcet and held on for dear life in a 1-1 draw with Dorchester Town at Avenue Stadium on Tuesday evening in front of 541 Magpies supporters.

Whites striker Zavon Hines broke out of a mini slump with his fifth goal of the season in the 26th minute and the lead held until midway through the second half, when Man of the Match Josh Klein-Davis struck for the equalizer.

Controversy followed in the 82nd minute, when Behcet handled the ball outside of his area and was sent off for the foul, obviously angering the Dover players and manager.

However, the team battled hard in front of defender Martyn Kenyon, who was making his first league appearance and surely he never suspected it would be as a replacement goalkeeper. He didn't see a shot directed his way and the Whites continued their undefeated streak in league play but saw their winning streak end.

The Dover manager was incensed with the officiating all game.

"Mr. Scarr missed a couple of blatant fouls in the area that could have made the difference", steamed Bosela.

"It was a poorly officiated game that was punctuated by our keeper's sending off. I thought the decision was harsh but it is what it is. The lads did well to overcome the odds and get an important point."

Dover remain at the top of the table by four points over Weston-super-Mare and must now prepare for their FA Cup tie against Dartford on Saturday afternoon. The club will have to do without the services of goalscorer Hines in that contest, as the West Ham United loanee is ineligible for that competition with Dover. The club will likely also have to do without starting keeper Behcet, who received an automatic one-match ban for his red card. The team will appeal the decision but it is unlikely to be overturned. John Whitehouse will likely be thrown into the fire in Behcet's place.

OTHER DOVER NOTES -

West Bromwich Albion midfielder Romaine Sawyers may be headed to Dover after the two clubs agreed in principle to a season-long loan agreement. Sawyers will mull over the offer but Bosela was optimistic that the 17 year old would sign off on the deal.

Worcester skipper Matthew Hill was in attendance, as pundits believe he is interested in the services of Whites forward Frannie Collin, who has been transfer listed by the club.
