Turned out to be a good move for me dropping down. Just out of curiosity did Bristol City stay up? |

Start of Season 2010/2011 Update:
Jace Hunter, SW/D C, Napoli: Jace Hunter may be in trouble this year as he currently isn't slated to be in the first 16 for Napoli. Will this mean even less playing time for the team? Valued at 5.5 million, Jace has been capped 19 times for Canada. Current ratings are 140/181, a 13 pt increase from last year. Goldrin Goldberg, ST, Tottenham: Another player who may not get much playing time this year, Goldrin is still 5th choice out of the 5 Tottenham first team forward/strikers. Valued at 5.25 million, the former England U-19 international's current ratings are 133/170, a 7 pt increase from last year. Daniel Ertmann, ST, Sevilla: Promisingly, it appears Daniel is one of the 2 first choice forwards for the Sevilla team. Will that last? It's not clear but Daniel scored a pre-season goal in the 2 friendly matches he started. Valued at 4.2 million, his ratings are currently 132/186, an increase of 12 pts from last year. Al Mighty, AM C, Sampdoria: Al might as well change his club to Young Boys since he is loaned out yet again to the Swiss side. Will he ever get a chance at Sampdoria? It's not clear but Al does have time on his side as he is only 20 years old. Valued at 3.7 million, his current ratings are 132/172, an increase of 12 pts from last year. Anthony Lee, AM L, Oldham: Anthony Lee will hope to build on last year's strong performance and push Oldham to the Premiership and/or get more recognition from the bigger sides. The 22 year old looks to have a bright future ahead if he can keep up his form and is currently valued at 3.7 million. His current stats are at 134/172, an increase of 8 pts from last year. Charles Schexnader, D/WB L, DM, M LC, AS Nancy-Lorraine: The 22 year old French youngster is valued at 2.9 million but he has hardly ever played thus far in his career, a total of just 35 league games in 4 seasons. He's still not slated to be a first-team player this year. Current stats are 122/182, an increase of 12 pts. Dayne Ho, SW/D C, Getafe: The Portugese U-21 international is pencilled in as a first choice centreback this year, hopefully he can hold on to that spot. Currently valued at 775k, his current stats are 126/195, an increase of 11 pts. Will Brown, ST, Chivas USA: The 19 year old will be hoping to make his debut in the MLS soon but the coach hasn't given any indication of who will be in his first team. Will is valued at 525k and his current stats are 129/172, an increase of 9 pts. Qwikshot Norris, GK, Wigan: It looks like Qwikshot is the first choice keeper this year over Roy Carroll as he has been given the No. 1 shirt. Valued at 450k, Qwikshot's stats are currently 128/185, an increase of 16 pts. Torin Mayhem, GK, Bradford: The Bradford keeper is going to miss the start of the season as he twisted an ankle badly. Will that mean he loses his place to the sub keeper? Valued at 230k and his current stats are 131/171, an increase of 10 pts. Tom Kislingbury, AM C, Southend: Early season drama for Tom as he has told the media that he think there's too much competition for midfield spots in Southend. If only people cared what Championship midfielders actually thought. Valued at 180k, Tom's current stats are 135/172, an increase of 13 pts. Richard Dixon, GK, Swindon: Richard will hope to improve on last year's performance and push Swindon back to the Championship. He was named to the Swindon Best 11 side for 2010 though. Valued at 170k, his current stats are 121/170, an increase of 5 pts. Sean Treacy, DM C, Kansas City: Sean Treacy left Brighton after being named to their Seasonal Best 11 in 2010. He'll hope to play well for Kansas City in the MLS, where he'll face other promising youngsters like Will Brown and Rob Nielsen. Valued at 150k, his current stats are 120/185, a 14 pt increase. Rob Nielsen, ST, Chivas USA: Another player in the MLS, Rob will want to prove he can play at a higher level after dominating the semi-pro leagues. It'll be interesting to see if he partners Will Brown in attack or whether he's relegated to the bench this year. Currently valued at 70k, his stats are 109/172, a 6 pt increase. K.N. Smith, M C, Servette FC: Another year for K.N. at Servette where he just hasn't developed much as a footballer at all. Still at 84/184, K.N. is valued at 10k and looks destined to play lower level football for his career. |

February 2011 Update:
Goldrin Goldberg, ST, Tottenham: The England U-21 striker (7 caps, 6 goals) has been given a few opportunities to play so far in the campaign and he has shown some promise in the Premier League (7 games, 2 goals, 7.00 rating). It'll be interesting to see how many more appearances the 6.25 million striker gets this year. Season Stats: 8 games, 2 goals, 1 yellow, 6.88 rating Jace Hunter, SW/D C, Palermo: Jace makes the move from Napoli to Palermo for 4.7 million as he continued to struggle to find consistent playing time for Napoli. He is currently pencilled in as the starter for Palermo at this time and has made 3 first team appearances for his new club. Season Stats: (Napoli): 3 games, 6.67 rating (Palermo): 3 games, 7.00 rating Anthony Lee, AM L, Fulham: Another player who makes a move for 4.9 million is Anthony Lee as he leaves Oldham for fellow Championship side Fulham, who were relegated in 2008/2009. Anthony is playing pretty decently for his new club and may be able to drive them to promotion (Fulham are currently 5th). Anthony leaves Oldham after being inducted into their Overall Best 11 of all time. Season Stats: (Oldham): 1 game, 7.00 rating (Fulham): 35 games (7 sub), 8 goals, 7 assists, 1 MOM, 6 yellows, 6.71 rating Al Mighty, AM C, Sampdoria: The Young Boys midfielder is playing very well this year, creating 13 goals in 24 games for his side. He's valued at 3.6 million right now and he managed to win a minor medal with Young Boys when they were runners-up in the the 2010 Euro Vase Cup. Season Stats: 24 games, 13 assists, 2 MOM, 10 yellows, 7.04 rating Daniel Ertmann, ST, Sevilla: The 3.2 million striker is a regular in the first team this year and has proved capable of playing top-flight football for Sevilla with 8 goals in 15 games. He's still waiting for a US call-up which shouldn't be too far away now based on his recent performances. Season stats: 15 games (1 sub), 8 goals, 1 assist, 4 MOM, 6.87 rating Charles Schexnader, D/WB L, DM, M LC, Leverkusen: The best player never to have played a game makes a move from Nancy-Lorraine to German side Leverkusen where, surprise surprise, he is not in the first team again. It was a 1.4 million move which is a bit of a surprise considering Charles has played a total of 35 games in his career so far. Season stats: None. Dayne Ho, SW/D C, Getafe: The former Portugese U-21 international is getting some valuable first time action this year, making 7 appearances thus far. His performances haven't been sterling though. Season Stats: 7 games, 1 assist, 1 yellow, 1 red, 6.57 rating Will Brown, ST, Chivas USA: The MLS season is yet to start but it looks like Will is going to be a started for Chivas as he's played in 3 pre-season friendlies thus far and scored 2 goals. Currently valued at 475k. Tom Kislingbury, AM C, Southend: Tom manages to hold down a first team spot despite complaining about the competition early on. He hasn't played tremendously well but he's been good enough so far to help Southend to 7th place in the Championship. Season Stats: 17 games (4 sub), 1 goal, 1 assist, 2 yelllows, 6.41 rating Torin Mayhem, GK, Bradford: The England U-21 keeper remains the first choice keeper for Bradford, who are currently 4th in League 1. Torin has played pretty well this year, conceding 22 goals in 20 games but keeping 7 clean sheets. In other news, Torin Mayhem has been inducted into the Bradford City Overall Best 11 players of all time. Season Stats: 20 games, 22 conceded, 7 clean sheets, 6.55 rating Qwikshot Norris, GK, Wigan: Well, it turns out the pre-season hype was wrong as Qwikshot finds himself warming the bench this year for Wigan and has yet to make an appearance for the club. Currently valued at 300k, he has won 9 caps for the Scotland U-21 side. Season Stats: None. Sean Treacy, DM C, Kansas City: Another player who looks to have cemented a place in the first team with his new club, Sean has appeared in pre-season games for his new club and managed to score 1 goal and create 3 more! Season Stats: None. Rob Nielsen, ST, Chivas USA: Not as much good news for Rob Nielsen as he has failed to appear in any pre-season games for Chivas and looks set to be placed on the bench. Season Stats: None. Richard Dixon, GK, Swindon: In surprising news, Richard, who was the first choice keeper, has been demoted to the Reserves Squad, for reasons that are as yet unclear. It's somewhat surprising since he wasn't playing terribly. Season Stats: 17 games, 22 conceded, 5 clean sheets, 4 yellows, 6.41 rating K.N. Smith, M C, Servette FC: K.N. is playing well for Servette, back to creating goals at will for his teammates (12 in 18 games). It would be nice to see him play at a higher quality league but no interest in the 12k player thus far. Season Stats: 18 games (1 sub), 12 assists, 7.06 rating |

End of Season 2010/2011 Update:
Goldrin Goldberg, ST, Tottenham: Goldrin doesn't get that many more opportunities to play over the 2nd half of the year but does manage 1 more goal in 2 appearances. His value has gone up to 9 million based on his limited appearances this year, as well as his outstanding record for the England U-21's (10 caps, 9 goals). Spurs finished the season in 3rd place in the Premier League. Season Stats: 10 games, 3 goals, 1 yellow, 6.90 rating Jace Hunter, SW/D C, Palermo: The Palermo centreback proves to be a solid signing as he plays very good football over 19 games for his new club. Jace also managed his first ever Serie A Team of the Week award in May 2011. Valued at 6.25 million. Palermo finished the season in 8th place (and Europe next year) but Napoli did better (5th place). Season Stats: (Napoli): 3 games, 6.67 rating (Palermo): 19 games, 2 yellows, 1 red, 7.16 rating Al Mighty, AM C, Sampdoria: The Young Boys midfielder hasn't played anymore since February. Currently valued at 4.3 million right now. Season Stats: 24 games, 13 assists, 2 MOM, 10 yellows, 7.04 rating Anthony Lee, AM L, Fulham: And Anthony helps Fulham get promoted to the Premier League! Fulham came in 2nd in the Championship, backed by Anthony's 5 league goals and 5 league assists. Anthony didn't do all that much in the 2nd half of the year though as he missed a whole month in March due to a twisted ankle and couldn't quite force his way back into the first team again after that injury. Valued at 4 million. Season Stats: (Oldham): 1 game, 7.00 rating (Fulham): 38 games (9 sub), 8 goals, 8 assists, 1 MOM, 6 yellows, 6.68 rating Charles Schexnader, D/WB L, DM, M LC, Leverkusen: Charles finally plays!!! The 23 year old makes 18 appearances for his new club and creates 4 goals in that time. The 1.7 million rated player may finally be able to start proving his worth. His disciplinary record is deplorable though. Season stats: 18 games, 4 assists, 2 MOMs, 6 yellows, 2 reds, 6.44 rating. Daniel Ertmann, ST, Sevilla: Daniel sees his value drop dramatically to 1.6 million as he fails to keep up his performances over the first half of the year (6 games, no goals or assists). Still, probably a successful year overall for Daniel Ertmann as he definitely played in more games than originally anticipated. Season stats: 21 games (2 sub), 8 goals, 1 assist, 4 MOM, 6.76 rating Qwikshot Norris, GK, Wigan: In a transfer that just beat the close of the transfer window, Qwikshot found himself back in the Premiership when he joined Reading (9th in the Premiership this year). He again found playing time hard to come by as he was often sitting on the bench behind Chris Kirkland. He did manage to make 3 appearances in all though and is currently valued at 1.2 million. Season Stats: 3 games, 4 conceded, 1 clean sheet, 7.00 rating Will Brown, ST, Chivas USA: Will is playing very well for Chivas right now, scoring 6 goals in 12 games and averaging a 7.50 rating. His value is now at 800k and New York is reportedly interested in signing the US U-21 international. Season Stats: 12 games, 6 goals, 2 MOM, 2 yellows, 7.50 rating Dayne Ho, SW/D C, Getafe: The first player to win a real trophy thus far is Dayne Ho, who wins the Spanish Cup with Getafe (although he was injured and had to be stretched off after 33 mins). That will end his time at Getafe though as he signed a contract with Cadiz. Sadly, Cadiz got relegated and Dayne will be playing in the Liga B next year. Season Stats: 15 games, 1 assist, 2 yellows, 1 red, 6.73 rating 2011 Spanish Cup winner Torin Mayhem, GK, Bradford: Another player that helps his club get promoted is Torin Mayhem, as his Bradford City side finished 5th in League 1 but managed to win promotion via the play-offs. He currently has 11 England U-21 caps and is valued at 425k. Season Stats: 39 games, 43 conceded, 13 clean sheets, 3 yellows, 6.54 rating Tom Kislingbury, AM C, Southend: Tom was pretty much a bit player in the 2nd half of the year, which coincidentally saw Southend drop to 15th place in the Championship. Just 5 games between February to May didn't give Tom much opportunity to shine. Valued at 350k. Season Stats: 22 games (5 sub), 1 goal, 2 assists, 2 yelllows, 6.36 rating Sean Treacy, DM C, Kansas City: Well, the coach decided not to play Sean Treacy regularly until now and that'll be a disappointment for the US-21 international, who had started the season with high hopes of dominating the MLS. Valued at 350k. Season Stats: 2 games, 7.00 rating Rob Nielsen, ST, Chivas USA: As expected, Rob Nielsen finds himself without an opportunity to play for Chivas this year. Perhaps he'll get a chance if Will Brown moves. Valued at 240k. Season Stats: None. Richard Dixon, GK, Swindon: Richard gets promoted back to the first team near the end of the year and makes 3 more appearances for Swindon. It's still unclear what exactly happened to him at this time but he'll hope to do better next year. Valued at 160k. Season Stats: 20 games (1 sub), 25 conceded, 6 clean sheets, 4 yellows, 6.40 rating K.N. Smith, M C, Servette FC: K.N.'s performance dipped ever so slightly over the 2nd half of the season though he was still a good performer for Servette. 1 goal and 14 assists are a good return from a midfielder at any level. Season Stats: 29 games (1 sub), 1 goal, 14 assists, 7.00 rating |

Huh, well that's frustrating, I understand now why there are complaints about Genie (one of the scouting programs that is commonly used), since it has corrupted my save game and it can't be loaded
This game has been useful for me though because it's an indication to me that I need to tweak the parameters a little more for the created players, otherwise they might really suffer in terms of performance in FM2008. In FM2007, we had a whole bunch of players playing top flight football but that doesn't seem to be as easy in FM2008, at least based on this experience. Sorry about that again. |
