So am I a total dork for knowing every single one of the internet acts, or is my wife completely out of it for not knowing a single one of them?

She's way out of the loop. None of them were remotely obscure and all have pretty much worked their way into pop culture.

Actually, I lied. She knew about Chocolate Rain. Of course, that was only because I showed her the awesomeness that is Tay Zonday...

Damn, I lied again. I didn't know about Samwell until someone on another board linked to the original after this episode aired...

Here's the info on tonight's episode, along with a short preview clip:

Quote:
Cartman has a gift for reaching the most difficult kids in the school system in an all-new episode of "South Park," entitled "Eek! A Penis!," premiering on Wednesday, April 9 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on COMEDY CENTRAL.

While their regular teacher, Ms. Garrison, is busy looking for a way to become the man he always intended to be, Cartman is put in charge. Soon after Cartman takes over, the kids' test scores are on the rise. Cartman decides to make a difference by working with some inner-city kids whom no other teacher has been able to reach.

How can i reach these children?

The Garrison plot about the penis was pretty weak. The cartman storyline was pretty funny though. Although it would have been a lot funnier if it was written a couple months ago.

I always hated Stand and Deliver.

Butters, how do you know what your teacher's penis looks like?!!

I love Butters in every episode.

That was the best episode in a long time... I loved how they kept milking the Belichick joke taking it up a notch each time.

"Just before the last Super Bowl, Bill Beeeeelichick gathered his football players and said 'let’s win this one for real… Just this one time.. Let’s not cheat.'"

Numa Numa, that's a few years old and died out awhile ago. Dramatic Prairie Dog comes from a Japanese TV show, and has been all over the place for the last year.

EDIT: I didn't know about the Samwell one either.

Agreed, one of the better episodes in quite awhile(aside from Imaginationland at least for me)

I'm surprised people liked that one so much... it might not have been top 3 this season IMO, let alone one of their best recently. Even if you thought the Cartman part was great, the Garrison half was terrible (Butters aside.)

I think the problem now for me is that they're at their best when they're dealing with current events or major movies - now they're just picking fairly obscure 80's movies to mock, and it's more Family Guy/Dane Cook style "ooh, it's recognizable" inside jokes than anything actually funny. That's why I thought the writers strike ep was probably the best this season - whether or not you agree with their side or that they're the right ones to deliver the message, they had a point (well, 2 including internet acts) and got them across well.

Looks like they are going with a "Grapes of Wrath" storyline tonight. The last few episodes that have focused on Randy have been pretty good.

Quote:
he citizens of South Park wake up one morning and find the internet is gone, in an all-new episode of "South Park," entitled "Over Logging," premiering on Wednesday, April 16 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on COMEDY CENTRAL.

No one in South Park has internet access and there’s no telling when, or even if, it will come back. Desperation sets in as the fear of the unknown spreads rapidly across the country. When Randy hears there still may be some internet out in California, he packs up his family and heads west in search of a signal.

I thought it was a pretty solid episode, not spectacular, but quite a bit better than most this season.

Final episode of the Spring half of the season is tonight. Here's the blurb and teaser video:

Quote:
A class field trip to the living museum takes a deadly turn in an all-new episode of "South Park," entitled "Super Fun Time," premiering on Wednesday, April 23 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on COMEDY CENTRAL.

Mr. Garrison takes the fourth grade class on an educational field trip to a Pioneer Village where dedicated workers remain in character as their counterparts from the 1800's. Cartman forces Butters to ditch the fanatical townsfolk to go to the amusement center located next door. While the rest of kids are reluctantly learning about the good old days in Colorado, a group of trigger-happy thieves break into the museum and take everyone hostage.

Strange episode. One running gag throughout, not much else that was funny. Die Hard, I guess?

I kinda liked the Butters not wavering from "teacher said" holding hands. Fits his personality. And then everyone in Pioneer Village refusing to break character (and Franz... yeah, I think it was a Die Hard set up... learning his lesson at the end).

The dude with the computer set up is what did it for me, that and the dudes were foreign. I was hoping they were going to make more of Cartman/Butters as the inadvertent rescuers ala Bruce Willis, but that really didn't develop much at all.

alluding to the rape theme and then revealing it to be Indy was funny. The insistence of showing him being "raped" by Spielberg and Lucas over an over in a relatively graphic fashion was not funny or enjoyable.

The only funny part of that was picking out the movies the scenes were from... clearly Deliverance at the end, but I was lost on the other two.

The second one was from "The Accused" with Jodie Foster. I loved that they used old scenes for the rape scenes.

You don't shoot a guy in the dick. That was hilarious that Cartman basically gave up because Butters kept shooting people in the penis .

Man, just like last season, I thought this was particularly un-funny. I'll echo what other have said about the initial allusion to Indy getting raped by Spielberg and Lucas, but after that, it got old quickly. I guess I'm getting too old for this.

I thought the Indiana Jones got old a little, but for some reason I really enjoyed Cartman and Butters acting asian, and going to P.F. Changs.

The acting asian and going to PF Changs was classic south park for me.

Unfortunately the repeated d*ck references were a bit too much since I have kids in the house and even though they were asleep I don't want them to wake up to that word.

I thought the episode was great! Since when did folks expect them to show restraint and not push something past the comfortable point?

In any event, the synopsis for this week's episode is up.

Word, this was a good one. Cartman was at his best in this episode, crying to his mommy, in the end thinking everyone loves him, just money all around for him. Then principal Victoria's comparison was spot on.

Yep, that was a classic episode. Cartman, despite how hard he tried, couldn't manipulate his way out of this situation.

Here's the blurb and a clip from the upcoming episode:

Quote:

NEW YORK, October 20, 2008 – While the world struggles to contain the latest global epidemic, the boys find a way to make money off of it in an all-new episode of “South Park” titled, “Pandemic” premiering on Wednesday, October 22 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on COMEDY CENTRAL.

The boys find a way to make money off an international crisis that requires no talent and very little effort. Cartman convinces the other boys to invite Craig to get in on their latest plan. He knows Craig has just what it takes to make their dream a reality.

The first 20 minutes were boring as hell. The final 10 minutes picked up a bit, but I thought, "where in the hell are they going with this?". Turns out this is another multi-part episode, so final verdict will have to wait until next week.
