Let's just start the draft next week. I'm all for that. I already have Lou Lamoriello pegged for my head coach category.

Until two weeks before the playoffs when you'll fire him and appoint yourself head coach.

Sure Chief you can join. I think Ron is in too...which will make it 12.

We can start the draft monday but I think it might be a good idea for everyone to PM me an email address i can reach them at...either that or your AIM name...so that I can let people know when they are up in the draft.

If the lineup is set how about giving us the draft order so that I can visualize the people stealing my picks?

With the 1st pick in the FOFC Hockey draft, I select:

Offensive Defensman: Bobby Orr- Bos, Chi

It was actually a 3 horse race. I figure offensive defensman was a position with the least amount of talent, so getting one of the 2 greatest players of all time at a thin position, was important. I am aslo happy he played for just 2 teams. I didn't have many Bruins or Blackhawks on my list at all.

Three Forwards In These Categories

Power Forward:

Sniper:

Playmaker:

Two Defensemen in These Catagories

Offensive Defenseman: Bobby Orr- Bos, Chi

Lockdown Defensman:

Five Other Positions

Big Hitter (can be a forward or defenseman):

Leader (Captain):

Enforcer:

Goalie:

Head Coach:

The most prolific passer that ever played, and a darn good scorer too. My playmaker, Wayne Gretzky-Edmonton Oiler

If I had the chance I'm not sure if I would have drafted Gretzky because of the team elimination rule.

I'm still unclear on that team rule. If someone picks Gretzky as an Oiler, I understand it still precludes them from taking a Ranger. But can they take say Guy Lafleur as a Canadian? Or is that not allowed because he was also a Ranger at one point?

I tried to clarify it a bit in the rules. Now you just pick a player and you get credit for stats he had with all the teams. But at the same time you cannot draft anyone from those teams for the rest of the draft.

Not allowed. Think of it like this: right now, every team that has ever been assembled (including defunct teams like Quebec, Hartford) is on your board. Once you select a player, every team he has played for over his entire career will be scratched off. Your remaining roster may have only played for those remaining teams at any point in their career.

Does the team elimination rule apply to coaches? For example (and for shits and giggles), if someone picks Paul Maurice, does it mean that they can't pick any Hartford, Carolina, and Toronto players?

I asked that question earlier and yes, coaches eliminate teams.

Every player that ever played on a team that Gretzky ever played for is no longer available for vtbub.

I think Stevie Y is a reach at #3, but it's hard to argue against him. There a few players i would have taken instead.

the fact that he only played for one team is huge.

Maybe a reach in greatest players of all time but IMO he's a perfect fit for the category.
