I really have no preference. I'll take infantry, armor or whatever else we need help with.

As your self declared official rep from the USMC gambling corps, I am officially opening the betting for which officer becomes our first MIA/POW.

I've got 10 bucks on Ardent.

LOL! You crack me up CW.

I suppose it would be rather unethical for me to bet, seeing as how I'm the one controlling the game. Too bad...

Just waiting to hear from ardent and WSUCougar to see if they have a preference. I'll give them a little while longer, while I examine the USMC OOB and figure out what sort of force we will have at our disposal.

More soon, hopefully.

Dola.

Just wanted to let you all know that I haven't forgotten about this. But, as is apt to happen sometimes, my "free time" pulled a bit of a disappearing act this weekend.

I looked at the U.S. Marines OOB, and we should be in pretty good shape. Armor looks like it will pretty much be restricted to Stuarts for the time being, and squad support weapons will be limited to BARs and .30 cal MGs.

Not to worry though. We'll get cooler toys to play with later on. Starting in December 1941 has some disadvantages, but will be more of a challenge. And we'll have some seriously bad-ass marines under our command by the time we reach Iwo Jima.

I should have our TOE and command assignments within a day or two.

Any preference as far as branch of service? Infantry? Armor? Human shield?

Somebody call Belleview! Anyone who would volunteer to serve under Coffee Warlord has got issues!

You're in, Breeze. Be sure to have your will filled out and turned into headquarters before we get started.

I was all set to create our core unit last night, and realized I had left all of my notes at work! I will get the core unit created tonight, come hell or high water. Expect to see our TOE and your command assignments tonight or tomorrow.

Semper Fi!

Kindly send word to the armored units that we will consider their tanks as 100 dollar chips in the weekly poker games.

And while you're at it, have the special decks ready. We'll be needing them.

Command Assignments

I've created our core unit. We're basically a foot-mobile unit, with a healthy amount of armor and mortar support. There isn't much use for trucks or jeeps when you're fighting in the jungle.

Recon elements will be purchased when needed as support units (these units do not travel with us from one battle to the next). I did this because...well...they die ALOT.

We have two armor companies, and four infantry companies.

Armor Company A
Fire and Ice
Commanding Officer: Captain WSUCougar
-1st Platoon CO: Lieutenant Icjjdnh
-2nd Platoon CO: Lieutenant jfbbis
-3rd Platoon CO: Lieutenant Tasan

Armor Company B
The Broadswords
Commanding Officer: Captain sachmo71
-1st Platoon CO: Lieutenant bertogarce
-2nd Platoon CO: Lieutenant Superman=#54
-3rd Platoon CO: Lieutenant sterlingice

Infantry Company A
Commanding Officer: Captain ardent enthusiast
-1st Platoon CO: Lieutenant samifan24
-2nd Platoon CO: Lieutenant damnMikeBrown
-3rd Platoon CO: Open

Infantry Company B
Commanding Officer: Captain RainRaven
-1st Platoon CO: Lieutenant The Afoci
-2nd Platoon CO: Lieutenant Blade
-3rd Platoon CO: Open

Infantry Company C
Commanding CO: Captain Blade6119
-1st Platoon CO: Lieutenant tucker342
-2nd Platoon CO: Lieutenant Qwikshot
-3rd Platoon CO: Open

Infantry Company D
The Meat Grinder
Commanding Officer: Captain Coffee Warlord
-1st Platoon CO: Lieutenant Breeze (aka Lieutenant Lackey)
-2nd Platoon CO: Lieutenant Aesyrqwe (aka Lieutenant Bootlicker)
-3rd Platoon CO: Lieutenant JeffNights (aka Lieutenant Flunky)

These assignments aren't set in stone until our first engagement, so let me know if you want to switch. Will anyone be brave enough to volunteer for The Meat Grinder, I wonder?

If any of you come up with good nicknames for your companies, let me know.

Armor Company Organization
-1 Company Command Section (3 M3 Stuart Light Tanks)
-3 Armor Platoons (5 M3 Stuart Light Tanks)

The M3 Stuart is the best thing available to our tank crews at the moment. It has relatively light armor, capable of being pierced by a 37mm round at close range. It is armed with a long-barrel 37mm M5 Cannon and 3 .30-caliber machineguns. It carries a crew of four.

Infantry Company Organization
-1 Company HQ Platoon (12 men - 10 M1903G Rifles, 1 Thompson SMG, 1 Colt .45, grenades)
-3 Infantry Platoons
-1 Machinegun Platoon (12 men - 3 .30-caliber machineguns)
-1 Light Mortar Team (7 men - 2 60mm Mortars)

Infantry Platoon Organization
-1 Platoon HQ Squad (7 men - 6 M1903G Rifles, 1 Thompson SMG, grenades)
-3 Infantry Squads (9 men - 8 M1903G Rifles, 1 M1918A2 BAR, grenades)
-1 Medium Infantry Squad (8 men - 6 M1903G Rifles, 2 M1918A2 BARs, grenades)

Our infantry are pretty lightly armed, but should have adequate firepower to get the job done.

The M1903G is an old bolt-action rifle, that leaves a bit to be desired. Hopefully, we'll be receiving M1 Garands soon.

The .30-caliber machineguns are pretty standard fare, as are the 60mm mortars. We also have a few Thompson SMGs scattered about, and plenty of grenades to go around.

Aside from the machineguns, the real man-stoppers will be the BARs. A tried-and-true design that has been around since "The War To End All Wars," the BAR is a fine squad support weapon, and can be downright deadly in the right hands.

We also have 8 81mm medium mortars assigned to us, two for each infantry company, for when we need that little extra oomph. The 81mms are much longer-range than our platoon-support 60mms, and therefore less accurate, so don't be too close when they start dropping out of the sky.

I'm working on a more specific Table of Organization and Equipment, and I'll try to post it here if I can get the formatting right. If not, I'll put it up as an attachment. After that, we'll jump into the fray against the Japanese. I've taken a small peek ahead at what is in store for us. All I can say is, I hope you all have good vision.

Semper Fi!

Whats this? Tanks only worth a 100 dollar chip. These are fine pieces of machinery. They should at least be worth $500. I have a question how will you grind your meat?

Oh fine, 500 dollars per tank it is. Wouldn't want you to think our coming poker game is unfair or anything.

You guys haven't seen the Stuart tanks in action yet. You might want to re-evaluate the $500 value assigned to those things.

Can you say "tin can?" I knew you could.

Aesyrqwe: Consider yourself signed up. 2nd Platoon of the Meat Grinder Company is all yours.

But what's this about Stuarts? Didn't they have Sherman Jumbos in the Pacific theater?

And just wait till you foot-sloggers meet up with some emplaced Japanese MGs and a few dug-in, unbreakable squads. Then we'll listen to you squeal for some "$500 poker chips" to come riding to the rescue!

HEY! I still need another platoon leader! Any o' you greenhorns out there want to serve in a REAL unit?!?

Just a quick note to let you all know that I haven't forgotten about this. I hope to have a detailed TOE up and ready today or tomorrow. I will also be starting a new thread, with the initial write-up for this "dynasty report." This write-up will set the stage for our first battle.

I wanted to get this thing going a little quicker, but real life has an annoying habit of getting in the way of things like this. I'm sure you all can relate.

More soon.
