Check out the top 10 other scorers on the 2001 team AI took to the finals. I can't think of another team so weak that was carried by one guy. And this was 2001, before the the West/East dominance got completely out of hand.

Theo Ratliff
Dikembe Mutombo
Aaron McKie
Eric Snow
Tyrone Hill
George Lynch
Toni Kukoc
Matt Geiger
Rodney Buford
Vernon Maxwell

D. Aldridge is saying Iverson said no to a deal to Charlotte. Sacramento could possibly be the leading team, offering: Mike Bibby, Francisco Garcia, and some fillers (Corliss Williamson?).

Yup, what you see is a collection of strong role players, particularily on D. At least 6 of those guys I'd classify as excellent defensive players.

Um, that was a year in which the east was one of the worst leagues in pro sports history. he took a mediocre team thru a wediocre conference. i remeber the Rockets missing the playoffs that tear, but having a good enough record to finish 4th in the east. if they had played an eastern conference schedual they probably would have finished 1st or 2nd. taking a team thru the eastern confernce that year is no great feat

No great feat, but no one else stepped up and did it.

There was approximately 200 players in the Eastern Conference who DIDN'T lead their teams to the finals, so I'd say it was a great feat.

Rumors in Los Angeles right now.

Lakers send Chris Mihm and Aaron Mckie (both on last year contracts) and Kwame Brown to Philly for Iverson.

Where are you hearing that? The Lakers will not get AI and they shouldn't.

Phil Jackson made an off hand comment to a reporter and next thing you know according the media, the Lakers are in the mix.

It would be entertaining to watch Kobe and AI physically fight over the at center court while the othr teamruns down to score...

Could you call a technical if a player punches his teammate?
If so who shoots?

Dear Lord, please don't make this deal Mitch. You finally rebuilt the team, don't tear it apart again!

Okay, I stand corrected. Makes sense after thinking about it. I just don't really like the "I'll do it myself" players, more of a fan of the college style game. I guess in a way he's almost forced to do it himself because of the lack of support. I also think that if his FG% is low, maybe he's trying to force too many shots and should be slashing and dumping off to the SF or someone for an open shot instead of taking some low percentage shots.

At the same time, I'm much more excited about watching the Bulls play than watching the 76'ers because they are much more team oriented.

I agree, and I prefer watching the college game too for that same reason.

I still enjoy watching the NBA though, it's just a different sort of enjoyment.

AI to Boston! AI to Boston!

Wonder why no deal yet? Wonder no more...C's play Philly tonite. No way they deal him to Boston before the teams play.

Book it!

Unless of course Billy King is too much of a puce to trade him within his division.

I don't know why Philly would want to take on Baron's contract and injury problems unless they know they can flip him to somewhere else. And no 1st round pick?! I think B. King is putting his whole "not in the same division" thing up to high in his list. Then again, I guess it depends on who the other GS players are...maybe Pietrus/Murphy/??.

Iverson won't move until the 15th, when trade restrictions are lifted.

Chicago will be downgrading themselves if they get rid of Gordon for Murphy.

I have a friend in California who is a massive Warriors fan, and he certainly isn't.

Murphy can put the ball in the basket and grab some rebounds, but he is an absolutely attrocious defender. Perhaps having Ben Wallace might help counter this fact, but I think Ben Gordon is more valuable than that.

Not sure how reliable but the latest I read was AI to Denver for Andre Miller/Joe Smith/pick/fillers. Philly gets no younger and if they get a pick then it's likely to be pretty late...we'll see though.
