And Terry Evans is a bag of balls, essentially.

I just noticed this in the press release on the Cardinals' website:

"Weaver signed a one-year deal with the Angels this winter for $8.325 million. It was reported that Los Angeles would be willing to pick up a significant portion of the contract in order to get a player it liked in exchange for Weaver."

-----------------------

So hopefully he won't hamstring them too much with his contract.

Looks like a classic case of selling high. Smart move by Walt to get maximum value for a minor leaguer who is unlikely to turn into much.

Well, the Angels had DFA'd Weaver already, so they were under the gun to get any deal they could. My best guss is that they eat 75% of the remaining deal, the Cards pick up maybe $1 million in salary or so, which shouldn't give them any problem doing any other moves.

Plus we need to stop the bleeding in terms of pitching first...we've been scoring a decent amount of runs, it's just our starters and bullpen are getting shelled regularly.

Yep, all the hitting we could get wouldn't help when we give up 14 runs.

We've already been doing a lot of that, so I'm not sure we can pin that on the new guy.

I HATE that joke of a stadium. Hate it, hate it , hate it.

And I've labored with them. But with how young the team is now, and how talented. Especially the pitching staff. I wouldn't worry about them hibernating anytime soon.

Yeah, KC would kill for another nice road trip to play the NL Central about now instead of the darn Tigers

Kansas City Royals, 2006
2-1 .667 @ St Louis
29-58 .333 in all other games

I think the trend is obvious

I love this thread...and the Dodgers in St. Louis.

We are undefeated since Weaver donned the birds on the bat.

I guess I'd just be careful about who you call JV when you have a team that hasn't competed in ages.

(don't worry, they get all bitter towards the Royals, too, despite the fact that KC has had 1 competitive season in about 10 years- being a Cards fan just requires you walking around with a chip on your shoulder despite not having back to back losing seasons since the Eisenhower administration)

Looks like you are the one taking things too seriously to me.

SI, why must you always play the Royals card? Why would Cardinal fans be bitter about Royals fans? A WS that took place over 20 years ago? Now that is RIDICULOUS!
