Just that phrase "It's about a hockey player becomming a figure skater" makes me throw up in my mouth.

Some Kind of Wonderful is not a chick flick either. It falls into a similar category as Footloose. It's a teen comedy more than a chick flick. Like Sixteen Candles or the more recent 10 Things I hate About You and the like.

Sleepless in Seattle is a chick flick. When Harry Met Sally, chick flick.

Footloose is miles away from Sixteen Candles. Don't make me question your credentials on this topic.

Stop your back pedalling. I heard about how you and the local Buckeye Booster Club organized a big pre-party and the special advanced midnight screening of Grandma's Boy. I saw the pictures on the internets. It's ok, I think everyone figured the target audience would be Ohio State alumns.

A joke he says...

Don't you have to apply a different standard of rationality to a woman's behavior?

There is no standard of rationality in woman's behavior, because there is no rationality whatsoever.

Well, the easy answer is that it's kind of like porn... you know it when you see it.

There are a few typical kinds of Chick Flicks. There are romantic comedy chick flicks (My Best Friends Wedding, Sleepless In Seattle, You've Got Mail, etc.) (note: not all romantic comedies are chick flicks), simply "romantic" chick flicks (Pride & Prejudice), and then there is just flat out pure 100% chick flicks. The latter are movies made about women for women. To borrow one of the Queens' (Steel Magnolias) taglines: They are the funniest movies that will make you cry. Steel Magnolias, Beaches, Where The Heart Is, Mystic Pizza, Fried Green Tomatoes, etc. There are some outliers as well, but those are your basic categories.

Chick flicks mostly include dialogue-laden, formulated romantic comedies (with mis-matched lovers or female relationships), tearjerkers and gal-pal films, movies about family crises and emotional catharsis, some traditional 'weepies', and female bonding situations involving families, mothers, daughters and children.

I went to see it with my ex-girlfriend the first weekend it came out. She (the ex) thought it was the greatest movie. However, I wanted to cut my eyes out.

Supposedly the relationship that this movie was loosely based upon broke up cause they authors young stud boyfriend was really gay, and was just using her for money and a green card.
