I think it's a perfectly fine reason. I wouldn't pick them to beat Sunderland right now. OK, maybe I would. But I don't think they're going to win their matchup anymore. Oh well, if I end up being wrong and Arsenal does pull it out, then I've gained an advantage I guess.

Note: The elite eight playoff tree draw is on Friday, with 7 teams (AC Milan, Arsenal, Barcelona, Benfica, Juventus, Olympique Lyon and Villareal) and one tbd winner (Ajax or Internazionale). I won't post about it though, until after Inter-Ajax has been played on Tuesday. Reasoning being the quarterfinals, semi finals and final predictions traditionally being combined.

For reference, the playoff tree has been drawn and looks like this:
.../ Olympique Lyon ../\ AC Milan ./\/ Internazionale / Ajax /..\ Villareal \../ Arsenal .\/\ Juventus ..\/ Benfica ...\ Barcelona

Knockout Phase Predictions!
Okay, time to move on to the last stages! Eight teams left, seven predictions to make. From the below posted playoff three, you need to select four semi-finalists, two finalists and a final winner. Picking the correct winner or a correct finalists will be pretty important on the points scale for the final rankings, because 40 points can be win in these last three rounds. ...../ Olympique Lyon ..../\ AC Milan .../.. ../\./ Internazionale ./...\ Villareal |..... .\.../ Arsenal ..\/.\ Juventus ...\.. ....\/ Benfica .....\ Barcelona As an example, here's my prediction: AC Milan beats Internazionale Barcelona beats Juventus Barcelona beats AC Milan

Lyon over Inter
Barcelona over Arsenal Barcelona over Lyon Perhaps a bit of a stretch, I just didn't want to go with the obvious Barca over Milan. |

Correct! That now means you're only 13 correct answers away from the one million dollar question.

AC Milan beats Inter
Juve beats Barcelona Juve beats AC Milan in the final. And for a bonus point I'd like to predict that Inter fans do something during the AC Milan games that means they have to play behind closed doors for the first few games next season. |

They're saying now that Arsenal won, they play Villarreal... which is different than all our predictions, we had the Barca/Benfica winner against the Arse/Juve winner.... uh oh.

Yeah, I just noticed the error too last night. It's Milan-Barcelona and Arsenal-Villareal. I'll try to come up with a way to fix it.

Reassignment of semi finals and final predictions!
I made a blunder in the set up of the playoff tree and have to act accordingly to make the predictions competition able to carry on. The good news is that most of the remaining predictions can stand, but for some I have to give people a chance to reset theirs' accordingly. Predicted winners for the quarterfinals will stand, since those were unaffected by my error. I've also decided that predicted winners of the CL will also stand since I think that prediction is also unaffected by the error. In effect of that, predicted outcomes in the final that turn out to be semi finals matchups will not be allowed to be reset, they will roll over to being the semi finals prediction. So, basically the only thing people will be allowed to correct is the semi finals losers and the runner up of the CL. Listed below is what people may correct (marked with a *) or what is automatically reset (marked with a -). MIJB#19 - Barcelona remains as winners - AC Milan reset as semis losers Butter_of_69 * Villareal may be set as either semis losers of losing finalists - AC Milan remains as winners - Barcelona reset as semis losers fantastic flying froggies - Barcelona remains as winners - AC Milan remains as semis losers atatange1 * Arsenal may be set as either semis losers of losing finalists - Barcelona remains as winners BreizhManu - Barcelona remains as winners Katon - Barcelona remains as winners Cards4ever * Arsenal may be set as either semis losers of losing finalists - AC Milan remains as winners - Barcelona reset as semi finals losers bhlloy * Arsenal may be set as either semis losers of losing finalists - Barcelona remains as winners - AC Milan reset as semis losers Scholes * Arsenal may be set as either semis losers of losing finalists - Barcelona remains as winners Critch * AC Milan may be set as either semis losers of losing finalists * Barcelona may be set as either semis losers of losing finalists * Naturally one of the two has to be set as losing finalists
