I don't know where else to put this, but I got a royal flush the other day... granted, it was with 4 board cards, and me holding the 10 of spades, but it was still nice. And helped me to 2nd in a $500 freeroll, awarding me $25.

Made the final table and 59 bucks. Had great luck with A8 and became retarded with 88. But I am here I guess. 9 of 9 currently.

A7 vs JJ done me in. Made a bit of money and am happy about making final table two tourneys in a row.

Afoci, what is your biggest key to winning in limit? I suck at limit hold 'em, but I would like to think I'm a better than average NL player.

The biggest things for me are just being patient. When you start to get small stacked in limit, or towards the end of the game, it essentially turns into a NL game. The blinds and the bets will be large enough that essentially no matter what happens, you will be all in, so just wait for a decent hand and push hard if you get anything or think you are still in the lead. Remember you don't always need a pair to win, Ace high wins a decent number of preflop all-ins in NL, it is just that in limit, you may have to make a few bets post flop. Just go with what feels right.

Ace high seems to be much more powerful in limit that no limit. When it starts getting close to the money, you will have to make some tough decisions with stacks slightly smaller than you and ones larger than you. In no limit, you see a bunch of big raises in attempts to steal the blind with A-x. In limit it is the same, except that the attempt at the steal can continue after the flop. They may decide preflop this is where they make their stand and will push with nothing making it tough to stay with top pair. Last night was a great example of doing this right and wrong. I was very short stacked and raised preflop with A2 in bad position. I was called by the big bling who I assumed knew that I was trying to steal. The flop came 2-Q-K and I bet it out and was called. The turn was 8. I bet, he called. The river was an A. Great for me, bad for him. I bet, he called and showed JJ. He knew I was trying to steal and figured that I was A-x and the K-Q didn't worry him. Risky, but something that has seems pretty common. Now for an example that went bad for me. 1st position, a stack roughly half my size raises in first position. Table folds to me in small blind with 88. In hindsight, I should have put the guy on any face card. After the blinds go through, he would have been down to about 2 or 3 BB. But I put him on A-x and decide that this is a steal attempt. The BB at this time is sitting out, so it is me vs him. I decide to gamble and put in a re-raise. He only calls which leads me to believe his hand is less than a great one. Flop comes 6-6-K. The 6's didn't scare me. If he had pocket 6s or x-6, I consider it bad luck and move on. The K didn't scare me either, because if he had A-K, I would have recieved a re-raise preflop. Now he bets and the decision comes to me. I decide to try and find out where I stand right now so I reraise. Now a reraise from him would let me lay my hand down and figure he has top pair or a six. I get a call and figure I have him. The turn come Q and he checks. Perfect. I bet and expect a fold but get reraised all-in by him for only a few hundred more chips. There is no decision for me to call or not, and really no decision for him to bet or not as he would be blinded out in two hands, so I have to call. Of course he shows KQ and the last two 8's stay in hiding and I lose a large chunk.

So I guess what I am trying to say is be patient early as you really can't win huge amount of chips until the blinds go up some, so only play premium hands. Near the end, treat it like NL and push with A-x or smaller pairs if you are short stacked. It feels funny betting the flop and turn before being all in and then showing ace high or third pair, but when it beats other guy, it is great.

Also, as a little note on the end, in limit, I don't mind getting down to 3 or 4 BB as much as I do in NL. Nearing the final table, the blinds and bets have put everyone essentially short stacked and you can very easily go from worst to top 6 with one win. Generally only 2 or 3 people actually have the stacks to play a few hands and lose and be okay, so don't panic.

None of this may make sense since I am very tired right now...

Now I've only played in one limit tourney (which happened to be my biggest tourney money placing) but have been playing in quite a few limit heads-up SNG. What I like about having done this is:
A) I think the opposition is much weaker since I think most of the people I've been playing are playing this on a lark and are used to NL
B) Aggression is often rewarded but without the risk of NL as there are often plenty of chances for you to get away from hands that have you beat

EDIT: I think The Afoci's comments match my own experience in a MTT.

Ok but in fairness it wasn't as bad of a beat as you make it sound.

I hope that doesn't DQ me from getting candy.

No, wasn't trying to make it sound like a bad beat. I played horribly in this tourney and by the last 22 or 23, I had little choice but to fold everything and pray for the money and some luck. I would have been upset if my raise wouldn't have been called, because the sevens were my best cards in a while. The flop of 4 6 8 was about as good of flop as I could have hoped for and I really have no problem losing on that hand. The way I played prior to that lead to the because most of the players I have seen do well over the last few weeks were either not in it or gone and the guys who were big stacks, sheets, NHTin, and such are pretty straight foward players that I feel like if I had played better and had chips, this could have been pretty profitable night for me.

Candy for all!

Wow, I just saw sheets went out one place behind me!?! He must have self destructed after being so upset that I wasn't sitting next to him. And I can't wait to play against peter again, I don't think anyone has ever respond as horribly to me as he did.

Playing in a $5 NL turbo tourney. Coming up on the money currently 42 out of 257 but they are dropping like flies. This is a great tourney for methheads as everyone is crazy. Table 58.

Maybe, I always seem to get my ass handed to me. I am a much better Limit player than no limit and the FOFC tourney has a bunch of good NL players. Plus I never really seem to be around then.

I also play the poker, outlasted two thirds of the field in the Daily $10+1 (Top prize $3500).. and 100th in the chip count right now, but am currently chip dead. If you're on PokerStars, I'd appreciate the support

Lost a huge hand when A10 drew out on QQ (4 clubs on board with his 10 gave him a flush).. I fought back for another 30 minutes, but eventually 99 ran into KK, nothing you could do

Don't change your strategy on my account, tho. It's all about winning for you and if someone calls that bluff...
