I would of loved to take Ohio State or Notre Dame, but as it is I'll take Florida State. Looks like there will be alot of compitition for the Florida recruits.

Honestly, no matter what conference i end up being stuck in.. i'd rather see the flawed bowl/bcs system
maybe i'm in the minority though.. |

There's a method to my madness in having a playoff system for the league.
First off, since every conference gets at least one representative, I'm hoping that will spur at least a couple of human owners to pick a small conference school. Otherwise, I don't think we will get anybody in the Sun Belt conference... Think of it as a reward for taking on one of those jobs. And secondly, depending on how the game evolves, having the second tourney/other bowl games will keep a large number of teams with a post season appearance. If we can't have a secondary set of post-season games, then the main tourney will be expanded. Third, we don't have school presidents to deal with that place the roadblock that is currently in place for a real-life playoff system. And finally, since this is a computer game, there will be no "human" element to the in game BCS equivalent. Everything will be tied to algorithms and metrics. Maybe a coaches poll can be added to the multiplayer part of the game. So, those are my reasons for having a playoff system in the game. I'm not closing the door on discussions on post-season structure, but it's gonna take a real convincing argument to use the existing bowl system.

In a playoff structure, you have ONE winner - every one else is disappointed.
In a bowl structure, you get one champion - plus 50 (or however many bowl games there are) teams winning their big end of year post season game. I think for multi player this would be a lot more fun, keeping more players involved, etc. |

My only problem I have ever had with a playoff system, is the player stats get out of whack. If there is a difference between regular season and playoff stats in the game, insted of just adding them on top of each other, then I am fine with it.

Agreed. I would have chosen Florida, but they were already taken. I have to say I was a bit bummed that you already had the Dawgs, but that's all right. I can get used to screaming "War Damn Eagle" if I have to. And who knows, maybe you'll have better luck in this game and actually win the conference once in a while. Lord knows you've never won a division in IHOF. |

If anyone "desperately" wants to be Tennessee, I'll pick someone else, because i'd prefer to be a smaller school and "build the program." But, if its gonna be a slow paced league, I'd probably stick with UT, since i know they will be a solid program that has a chance to win any given year.

bump
There hasn't been much activity over at the GDS forum for BBCF. Hopefully Arlie and the gang are making good progress on this game. The developer chat from a couple of months back seemed to answer most of the Qs people had on the game. The league is still in its planning stages, but there isn't much to do until the game gets closer to release. Didn't want anyone to think this was an abandoned league...

I guess you're talking about 2000, when OSU beat a crappy Notre Dame team and finished #4 in the final AP poll and #5 in the USA Today. Sorry, one year doesn't mean squat. And here's some more recent memory for you since that 2000 season: Using Final AP Polls: 2001: Georgia 22 OSU Not Ranked 2002: Georgia 3 OSU Not Ranked 2003: Georgia 7 OSU Not Ranked 2004: Georgia 7 OSU Not Ranked I'm glad Oregon State took that good year and built a solid program upon it. Oh and Georgia's #3 final ranking in both the AP and USA Today polls is actually closer to a NC and is more recent. So what exactly are you saying?? |

Guys, the game is progressing well - I just have preferred to spend more time working on the game than talking about it
But, if you have any questions, feel free to ask me either here or on GDS. |

I didn't say program and everyone knows that OSU was screwed in the rankings that year. In all seriousness however, they probably were the best team at the end of the year and they didn't just beat Notre Dame, they had the players too scared to go out on the field. Hey, I didn't know this league was starting! Well, it's time to start my multiplayer experience. I can't wait for this game, I think Greydog makes great games. I liked TBP 2K5 a lot, I also have Wrestling Spirit. We'll have fun.
Anyway, sign me up, Michigan State Spartans. BTW Arlie, some new info about the game??? Come on, give us something!!! |

Wait, there's a GAME for all this? I thought we were just choosing teams and trash-talking, but playing a game sounds fun, too. Welcome to the Big Ten, Emiliano! Hopefully I can get Rafini out of the picture, take over in Ann Arbor, and we can get a nice rivalry going! In the meantime, I'll just have to spank you from Champaign. |
