Let me tell you, in The National Football League, let me tell you this, we talked to Bobby Engram on Friday, and he said he hadn't cut his fingernails in weeks especially so he could hold onto the ball. And the Seahawks need to fire their receivers coach. |

I agree that Engram should have caught the ball, but I didn't like the way Hasselbeck handled everything up until the throw. He looked panicked the whole time. To me, it looked like the reason he had nowhere to go was because he was trying not to cross the line of scrimmage. He saw the 5-yard-line, jumped back, and then heaved the pass. If he had committed to a run after stepping up and made one cut to his right, he had a chance to dive at the end zone. I admit that I was harsh in saying that he blew the play, because the play ended up in Engram's hands (literally), but I think Hasselbeck had a better shot with a run.

I disagree Pumpy.
He looked to run, then one of the Rams D-Lineman seemed to jump out of nowhere, and was immediately in his face. He then shuffled to his right a bit while making what was a pretty solid throw. Engram's gotta catch that ball. |

All in all, a pretty good start to my favorite weekend of football.
And how awful is Jevon Kearse in this Pepsi Wild Cherry ad? |

Pumpy, simply, no he didn't. He would have been cut down by the 3 yard line, maybe been able to force himself to the 2, but he wouldn't have picked up the 1st down, never mind the touchdown. There were 4 or 5 Rams between Hass and the endzone, at least 2 on either side of midfield, but still inside the hashes, he wasn't going to pick up enough blocking to make it through.
I didn't like the playcall, haven't liked much in the way of the playcalling on either side of the ball all year, but simple fact was, Engram had the ball hit his hands in the endzone and he couldn't hang on to force (hopefully) O.T. Lots of changes coming to Seattle in this offseason, sad way to finish what was supposed to be such a promising year. |

What a great game. Go Rams! Good start to the NFL playoffs once again. Hats off to Matt Hasselbeck for playing a great game.

To everyone who thinks Hasselbeck had nowhere to go, I certainly see where you're all coming from. I know he's not one of those "mobile" quarterbacks, but he looked ready to run and then stopped. I know it's easy to say now, but I still think he could've run with it if he had committed.
Again, I was harsh for initially putting the blame on him. To be honest, I typed that out before I saw the replay. At full speed, it looked like a poor decision and a bad throw. I didn't even consider that Engram had just plain dropped the pass. Of course, by the time I'd posted, I saw the replay, and then it was obvious that Engram was the real goat on that play. The only comment I can really stick with is that I still think Hasselbeck could've gotten to the goal line with a run and a dive.

It's because the hole he was about to take suddenly had a 300 lb guy in it. That's what caused his entire move towards his right. |

The Seattle receivers cannot catch. It should never come down to the QB who can't run very well, running for the TD. Hasselbacks strengths is his ability to be a good QB, not a good RB. The WR's should have made catches all day that they failed to do.
But whatever, there's a lot of talent in Seattle, but something is terribly wrong and I can't put my finger on it. |

I think the Jets keep it relatively close, but unfortunately I think the Chargers win this thing fairly easily.

If the Jets do one thing well, it's run the draw. I hope Curtis martin grabs his bust and runs a draw right into the Hall of Fame on his induction day.

I am not sure who Pennington thinks he is fooling with his 'play action fake', Martin was about 5 feet away from him.

LOL. Yeah, they did a shit job of selling the flea-flicker as well. For a team that runs as well as they do, the offense really has an alarming lack of play-action. |

Just what is San Diego going to do this offseason about the QB situation? I don't really ever recall seeing this sort of situation before. At least not one where the guy who was being run out of town is playing so well.

Trade Rivers to Miami for a first round pick, sign Brees to a long term deal and draft defense. Brees has shown something tangible, Rivers only has potential.

Mallrats is easily the best of Kevin Smith's movies.
The line is actually uttered by many people throughout the movie, namely by T.S. Quint and Gil Hicks. And Affleck's character was named Shannon Hamilton... yes I've seen the movie far too often. |
