Pastabelly is about as biased a reporter as there is out there...

Look at that paragraph..a lot of unattributed bullshit if you ask me..."some scouts"....oh yeah? which scouts? the good ones or the bitter dumbasses?

"blowing off interview requests..." - sounds like Lenny doesn't like being ignored!

"right now he can't make a play" - more crap which has been directly contradicted by reports in the daily training camp reports from the Post.

People need to focus on things that matter. Pasquarelli is incapable of that.

I thought Pasquarelli was all buddy-buddy with Vinny C of the 'Skins? Why would he be purposefully out to attack their top pick? Why is Len biased against Taylor? Where is the motivation? I am not following this one...

Well, the motivation is that the kid is a fruitcake. Between him, Winslow, and the overrated Shockey, I have even more respect for the Miami program tham I used to. But the rest of P's camp report is about 50/50 good/bad, so I don't think it's anything against the Skins.

And even if he did, you couldn't blame him, could you? The Skins are up there in that pantheon of deeply annoying teams, like the Raiders and Cowboys. The kind of teams that unless you're a fan of them, they are just too easy to hate regardless of what team you cheer for.

For example, I'm a Lions fan. That pretty much means I hate the Bears, Vikings, and Packers. But right along with those teams are the Cowboys and Redskins, plus a few select others for various reasons.

Of course you hate the Redskins... I don't think the Lions have won a game in Washington. Ever.

If that was the criteria, Lions fans would hold a grudge against just about every team in the league. Sorry, there is no built-up animosity for Washington amongst Lions fans, that I know of. Hell, I think it's cool that we can say we lost to the eventual SB Champs in 1991 in the NFC Championship Game.

Maybe, but he is down on the depth chart. And you'd think they'd want their #1 pick to be a starter as soon as possible, given how high they picked him.

I meant whether Len has thing about the Skins or not, all of the Taylor stuff is documented and not conjecture by Len.

Not being on the field is a huge tell for the #5 need pick. For someone that was supposed to flatten Shockey, he'll have to really be good to do it from the sideline.

He might turn out to be a monster but to this point he can't beat out a kid from pop warner.

No. I am still bitter about that game. Very bitter. 45-7? 45-3? Whatever the hell it was. It was horrible that game.

That Redskins team was probably the best Gibbs ever put on the field. Not neccessarily the most talented (I think the 83 team had that distinction), but certainly the most cohesive. Their execution was nearly flawless on both sides of the ball.

41-10. I'll take that, against that particular team in the NFC Championship Game, and you can have the 58-37 Eagles embarrassment from a few years later.

Looks like this is happening about a month too late for Taylor...

D-Backs to announce Moorad's hiring

By Darren Rovell

ESPN.com

Sports agent Jeff Moorad will leave his agency, Moorad Sports Management, to accept a high-ranking job with the Arizona Diamondbacks, ESPN's Pedro Gomez reported early Friday morning.

The Diamondbacks are expected to hold a news conference later in the day to announce Moorad's hiring.

Sources told ESPN.com that Moorad called his clients -- among them Red Sox outfielder Manny Ramirez -- to inform them of the direction his career is taking. Calls placed by ESPN.com to Moorad's office and home were not immediately returned.

A move from sports agent to a professional sports team's front office would not be unprecedented. In August 2001, agent Mike Barnett, who represented Wayne Gretzky and other NHL players, joined Gretzky in the Phoenix Coyotes' front office, accepting the role of executive vice president and general manager. In June 2002, high-profile NFL agent Ray Anderson left his practice to become the executive vice president of the Atlanta Falcons.

When Moorad was aligned with football agent Leigh Steinberg, he became one of the most powerful agents in baseball. Four years ago, he brokered the second-richest deal in baseball history -- Ramirez's eight-year, $160 million free-agent contract with Boston.

In April 2003, after 18 years of working together, Steinberg and Moorad parted ways.

Since Moorad began representing athletes in 1983, he has been included in The Sporting News' list of the 100 most powerful people in sports seven times. He has represented more than 40 players taken in the first round of Major League Baseball's draft, according to the company's Web site. His current clients include Diamondbacks left fielder Luis Gonzalez, Minnesota Twins left fielder Shannon Stewart, Anaheim Angels first baseman Darin Erstad, and New York Yankees pitcher Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez.

Moorad's firm is owned by Loring Ward, a wealth and life management services company. It is unclear whether Moorad associates Brian Peters and Gene Mato will remain with the firm following their boss' departure.

Mato and Moorad had represented Sean Taylor, who was selected by the Redskins in the first round of the 2004 NFL draft. Taylor fired his first agent after the draft, hired the two in July and signed a deal they negotiated with Washington. Unhappy with the contract, he fired them Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a source within Major League Baseball told ESPN's Gomez that by next season, Diamondbacks chairman and CEO Jerry Colangelo likely will no longer have any significant role with the team -- if any at all.

Due to previous cash flow problems, Colangelo does not have a controlling interest in the Diamondbacks, so it has been clear he could be phased out at any time. Colangelo has maintained that although he did not have a financial interest in the franchise, he was promised that he could leave as managing partner on his own terms.

Colangelo sold the NBA's Phoenix Suns in April to real estate and banking executive Robert Sarver for $401 million. Colangelo, who owned 20 percent of the Suns, sold his share but has stayed on as chairman and chief executive.

Only saw the first two series but it looked like Wash was putting all kinds of heat on Plummer.

I only saw the last half, but I can only pray that you're right. Washington's biggest weakness is the d-line, and if they were getting to Plummer against Denver's o-line, then maybe Gregg Williams has performed some sort of miracle.

they got great penetration on the first two series. Forced Plummer to scramble out and throw a pick.

The D-line did a good job, but I thought the Redskins LBs were way too aggressive. I think just about every big run that Denver had was because of a Redskin LB overpursuing or out of position (which I'm sure was designed that way by Denver).

That doesn't surprise me. Ah, well. Four more preseason games to go to sort these things out...

I knew there was a thread about Sean Taylor lurking around here...

Just browsed through the ESPN site. Found this little tidbit, not sure if it was already talked about in some other thread.

Safety to go on trial the day after Redskins' opener

Associated Press

MIAMI -- Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor would face a minimum prison sentence of three years if convicted on charges of pointing a gun during a dispute about an all-terrain vehicle.

A trial date was set for Sept. 12, the day after the Redskins open their season.

State prosecutors filed charges Friday against the 22-year-old former University of Miami star. He faces a single count of aggravated assault with a firearm, said Michael Greico, assistant state attorney.

Taylor allegedly was among a group of people who got into a June 1 armed confrontation over a vehicle the player and his associates believed had been stolen. Another man in the group, 19-year-old Charles Caughman, also faces aggravated assault charges. He is accused of threatening and chasing someone with a baseball bat.

Taylor, the No. 5 overall draft pick by the Redskins in 2004, did not appear in court and has filed a written plea of not guilty.

His attorney, Edward Carhart, said his client hoped to avoid charges after meeting with prosecutors voluntarily and presenting polygraph test results the lawyer said clear Taylor of wrongdoing. Polygraph results usually are not admissible in court.

Greico said the charges involve three victims. He would not comment on the substance of the case but said Taylor faces a maximum prison term of 16 years.

Taylor signed a seven-year, $18 million deal with the Redskins after he was drafted. The team has excused him from further offseason practices and meetings so he can concentrate on his case.

Taylor was charged with drunken driving in October after attending a birthday party for receiver Rod Gardner. Those charges were dismissed, but Taylor was convicted for refusing to take a blood-alcohol test.

Taylor also has fired two agents, was fined for skipping one day of the NFL's mandatory rookie symposium and was accused of spitting on a player during a game at Cincinnati.

Taylor might have one last chance here to get his shit together, otherwise things are going to end very badly for him.
