I'm glad you enjoy it, I hope it keeps the league/dynasty interesting!

Hah... I fixed it on the CFL page and forgot to fix it here...!

STAT DOGGIES

HAR
QB Oberg: 15 for 34, 143 Yards, 1 TD, 5 Int, 2 Sacks
RB Jackson: 8 Carries, 17 Yards, Long of 7 (7 carries, 10 Yards without that carry)
OLine: 1/27 Key Run Blocks

KEY MATCHUPS REVISITED

TBY LT Kevin Ackerman[Rookie] vs. HAR RE Andrew Russel

This was kind of a draw. Russel only had 0.5 Sacks and 0 Hurries, but Ackerman gave up 2 Sacks. However, Ackerman was 3/4 on Key Run Blocks and Alvey was very successful on the left side in the game (12 Carries, 65 Yards, 5.4 ypc). So, I would score this a victory for Ackerman in the running game, but a victory for Russel in the passing game.

HAR QB James Oberg vs TBY Secondary

Dare I say that Oberg was owned? Burgess had a breakout day and absolutely annhialated Oberg. 4 Ints in one game by one player says it all, plus another Int by a LB for a grand total of 5 Ints. In addition to the 5 Ints, 5 were also defensed. so in total Oberg had 34 passes, 15 complete, 5 Int, 5 Defensed, 1 Blocked at the line. The scary thing for Oberg is he only threw one bad pass and they still nabbed 5 of them. This is the kind of performance we knew our secondary was capable of putting up, but it is still amazing when it happens.

QB Lane Manuel vs HAR Front Seven

Well, the HAR Front Seven picked this game to break out of their sack slump. 6 guys recorded atleast 0.5 sacks and there were 5 sacks total. In addition, they produced 1 hurry. Manuel was able to avoid turning the pressure into Int's, but he needs to do a better job avoiding the sacks. The Rookie Linemen struggled in the pass rush, giving up 3 of the 5 sacks. Fortunately for Manuel, Alvey had an outstanding game and the defense dominated.

SYNOPSIS

This game was complete domination. Four of Hartford's first 6 drives resulted in turnovers, which turned into 16 points for Tampa Bay. The Hartford Offense only produced 34 rushing yards and 153 total yards. With 6 turnovers, that kind of offensive production will get you no-where. If Tampa's D could play like this every week, they could be ridden straight to the championship game.

INJURY NEWS:

LB Ruiz - Probable, Strained Rotator Cuff, 2 Weeks
NT Lincoln Dart - Out, Strained Deltoid Muscle, 4 weeks
DE Terry Compton - 100%

There's not a more true statement that has been made about Tampa than this... If Alvey was not putting up this stellar performance (150+ yards in 2 out of 3 games), we would not be 3-0...

Trying to take the league by storm!

Week 4 Preview:
Tampa Bay Torpedos (3-0) (-3)
AT
Memphis Express(1-2)

OVERVIEW

It is baffling that the Torpedos once again come into a game as an underdog. After putting up a 3-0 record and dominating the Attack last week, Tampa is still a 3 point underdog to the 1-2 Express. A glance at the express shows that their performance this year has been very similar to the Attack, except with a more effective passing game. If last week was any sign, this is good news for the Torpedos.

KEY MATCHUPS

TBY LT Kevin Ackerman[Rookie] vs. MEM RE Horace Williams

The second round rookie continues to be a key aspect of the Tampa Bay offense. In 2 games he has gone 4/8 on Key Run Blocks and allowed 2 sacks on 46 pass plays for a 4.3 Pass Percent. His aid in the running game has been strong, but he has been a liability in the passing game. QB Lane Manuel has been sacked 9 times so far this season, so Ackerman needs to play his role in cutting that number done. Williams has played solid. He is second on the team with 2.0 sacks and also has 9 tackles, a block, and a hurry. He is even more important when team sack leader DE Horace Melo is probable with a sprained knee ligament.

MEM QB Joshua Urrutia vs TBY Secondary

Any surprise this matchup is here? Urrutia is third in the league in passing yards (719) and 8th in the league in QB Rating (88.9) He has led his team to the #1 ranked passing offense in the league. With an unreliable RB-by-committee that has two running backs with 107 yards apiece, Urrutia is the centerpiece of the team. He gets to show how well he can carry the team agains the 8th ranked passing defense in the league. In addition, Tampa Bay's Secondary has the 2nd most Int's in the league with 7, 5 of them coming last week against Hartford. If the the team can continue that momentum, Urrutia could see his first bad game of the year.

RB Elias Alvey vs MEM NT Barton Morgan and MEM DE Isaiah Melo

The right side of the Memphis 3-4 has been very susceptible to the run this year. It has given up a pathetic 6.4 ypc on 22 carries. This happens to also coincide with one of the stronger parts of the Tampa offensive line that has gained 3.72 ypc on the right side so far this season. Alvey has made himself an early candidate for the MVP award with two 150+ yard games. He has done so by taking a majority of the touches in the game, leading all RBs by almost 20 carries and also has the league lead for rushing yards. This game could cement Alvey as one of the top RBs in the league against the 26th ranked rushing defense in the league.

KEYS TO WINNING

Tampa Bay Torpedos
Code:
[1] Pressure QB Urrutia [2] Elias Alvey's continued success [3] Time of Possession dominance
Las Vegas Crawfish
Code:
[1] Contain Elias Alvey [2] Joshua Urrutia's continued success [3] No more than 1 Int
FINAL THOUGHTS

The Torpedos are poised to remain one of the few undefeated teams in the league. We have shocked much of the league so far this year. If we win this game, it will be more than half of the win total from last year. As long as Alvey can remain healthy and succeed, this could be a long run of success.

PREDICTION
Tampa Bay Torpedos by 7

Now don't say that. Two things of note here.

1) At least you don't have a gambling problem or I should hope don't gamble without knowledge of the odds.

2) If you are a moron, you're a moron who writes good dynasties and has helped inject some enthusiasm into the CFL.

Amen to that!

Now would you both (Tampa Bay and Charleston) lose some games so that Durham has a shot at the playoffs this season?

1) I most definately don't, or that would be bad ... I'm confused as to WHY that is the notation used... to me it was Team (points underdog) because of the -... darn me and my attempted logic!

Hey, if you could just win some games it wouldn't matter

I'm assuming that it's based off mathematical equalities. So if one team is better (or favored) than another you have to take something away from it and add it to the other side, hence the (-)3. If a team had three added to their side, then the exact opposite would be true.

KEY MATCHUPS REVISITED

TBY LT Kevin Ackerman[Rookie] vs. MEM RE Horace Williams

Ackerman did not allow any sacks, but he was 0/2 in KRB. He aided in an abismal 3 carries for 6 yards on the left side. On the flip side, Williams was one of the games key players with 1.5 sacks, 4 tackles, and 2 assists. The team is really hoping that Ackerman can step it up as the season progresses.

MEM QB Joshua Urrutia vs TBY Secondary

RB Elias Alvey vs MEM NT Barton Morgan and MEM DE Isaiah Melo

It would appear that Alvey has been exposed. He came out as a quick favorite in the MVP race, but showed this week that maybe he is not what he portrayed. Perhaps the fire is gone as the praise has come from around the league and he feels he does not need to fight for his job anymore. He better feel like it, because it takes more than 3 games to make a job.

SYNOPSIS

This game was complete domination. Sound familiar? It's what I said last week, but this time it was us that was dominated. We fell behind the 8-ball within the first minute of the game and never got out of it. This game should be a wake-up call for this team.

INJURY NEWS:

LB Ruiz - Probable, Strained Rotator Cuff, 1 Week [Inactive]
NT Lincoln Dart - Out, Strained Deltoid Muscle, 3 weeks [Inactive]
FS Wilton Burgess - Probable, Broken Finger, 1 week [Still In Lineup]

But a close look at the numbers show that he was under severe pressure from the Snow Leopards' defense - he was hurried six times, had a pass blocked and was sacked once. But that didn't faze him much.

As noted in MIJB's thread... I left my laptop at work that has my FOF on it, or I would be doing an MVP update and Tu would definately be in it...

Does my purchase of FOF give me 2 licenses?

Week 4 Preview:
Tampa Bay Torpedos (3-1)
AT
New Orleans Breakers(1-3) (-1)

OVERVIEW

The Torpedos were given a huge wake-up call last week. Talk around the league now is that they hit a hot streak and may not be as good as they were pretending to be. In particular, RB Elias Alvey showed that he can have off-weeks. Many say he may have a LOT of off-weeks. The Torpedos hope to shake-off some of these cob-webs by going up against the struggling Breakers. The Breakers are 1-3 on the season and their only win came against the 1-3 Rockets in a 13-12 nail biter. The Breakers are still attempting to find their way in this league after being 6-10 cellar dwellers in the AC North last season.

The Tampa Bay 4th ranked rushing offense hopes to get back on track against the 12th ranked rushing defense of New Orleans that seems to be the lone shining point of the team, allowing only 3.49 ypc. The New Orleans offense is led by QB Randolph Kranz who has their passing offense ranked 18th in the league in yardage. However, a struggling running offense that is ranked 26th in yardage is key to an abismal 14.0 points per game, good enough for 26th place. When you allow 20.0 Points Per game on defense (22nd in the league), it does not average out for many wins. The Torpedos, on the other hand, come in ranked 10th in scoring (19.2 points per game) and 12th in scoring defense (15.2 points per game).

KEY MATCHUPS

TBY LT Kevin Ackerman[Rookie] vs. NOS RE Andre Green

Ackerman is again tested by the top pass rusher on the opposing team. Green has 2.5 sacks on the year with 2 blocks and 6 hurries. His PrPct is 8.7 and he really knows how to get after the QB. Another aspect to keep an eye on is the fact that Green struggles against the run, so Ackerman may be able to build on the main success he has had, run blocking.

NOS QB Randolph Kranz vs TBY Secondary

Despite his 10 years in the league, it appears that Kranz still has some upside. He has not shown that upside this season. With a 72.2 QB Rating and a 3/3 TD/INT Ratio, he remains just an average quarterback in this league. Up against the stellar TBY Secondary this could spell bad news. With a team that is 3rd in the league in ypa (5.25) against a QB that already prefers the short passing game, it could be another game-making performances by the TBY Secondary. After getting lit up last week, they are looking to make a statement.

QB Lane Manuel vs NOS Secondary

The 3rd year QB out of Duke is still adjusting to the speed of the NFL compared to the ACC. He has done much to improve his completion percentage this year (60.3 from 53.9), but he is still struggling to get it into the endzone with a 2/3 INT/TD Ratio. With a young line, he has also been pressured quite a bit with 11 sacks so far this year. With the 24th ranked passing defense in the league on the other side of the ball, Manuel may be able to use this game to build some confidence.

KEYS TO WINNING

Tampa Bay Torpedos
Code:
[1] Create turnovers [2] Get Elias Alvey back on track [3] Time of Possession dominance
New Orleans Breakers
Code:
[1] Contain Elias Alvey [2] Outperform Team's 2.86 ypc [3] Pressure Lane Manuel
FINAL THOUGHTS

The Torpedos should shake off last week's loss. This is a team that there is no reason they should not beat, unless Alvey has truely fallen from glory.

PREDICTION
Tampa Bay Torpedos by 7

KEY MATCHUPS REVISITED

TBY LT Kevin Ackerman[Rookie] vs. NOS RE Andre Green

Green was basically a complete non-factor. He had 2 tackles, 1 assist, 0 Sacks, and 0 Hurries.

Ackerman, on the other hand, was 1/3 on Key Blocks, but he did allow 1 sack. He was helpful in a dominating run

game that rushed 7 times for 71 yards to the left side of the line that Ackerman anchors.

NOS QB Randolph Kranz vs TBY Secondary

The New Orleans QB had a rough day. Although he did get 2 TDs and 202 yards, he completed under 50% of his passes,

threw 1 Int, was sacked twice, had 5 passes dropped, 9 Defensed passes, and 5 Hurries. The 9 defensed passes and 1 Int

show a great effort put out by the TBY Secondary. Koch finally got out of his drought to get the lone

interception.

QB Lane Manuel vs NOS Secondary

Lane had one of his better performances of the year. He was 19 for 34 with 133 yards and 2 TDs. The ypa are

VERY low, but that is the design of this offense. The efficiency is the most important thing to me. A comp % of 55 is

not too bad, and the 2 TDs is good. He could have done better, but he did enough to win.

SYNOPSIS

We almost let this game slip out from our grasp. After going up 17-0 in the first half, we let it fall to 17-17 late

in the game. Fortunately for us Levy showed the potential he has as a rushing FB and broke off a 30 yard TD Run

to win the game. This game was a little tight for my tastes against a 1-3 team and sets a scary precedence for the

game against Charleston this week. I think I need to look at my gameplan for being far ahead.

INJURY NEWS:

LB Ruiz - 100%
NT Lincoln Dart - Out, Strained Deltoid Muscle, 2 weeks [Inactive]
FS Wilton Burgess - 100%

Week 6 Preview:
Tampa Bay Torpedos (4-1)
AT
Charleston SixPacks(5-0)

OVERVIEW

The Six Packs are winning games by an average of 9.2 points per game. Their closest game was a 6 point win. They are the #1 Rushing Offense in the league, #7 Passing Offense, #4 Scoring Offense, Have the Fewest Turnovers, have the #10 Rushing Defense and are the only undefeated team left in the league. On the surface, the only visible weakness of this team is the Passing Defense which is #20 in the league. However, they are #29 in passing attempts, so what we are really seeing is a result of them getting so far ahead early in the game. They are #10 in ypa, which is probably a better indicator of where they stand.

This game is very important if Tampa hopes to make a run at the division title. Charleston was 2nd in the division last year, but that was with a 13-3 record. They have yet to lose a division game in the existence of the league (6-0 last year, 1-0 this year). If we could play the game of our lives and break out into the lead of the division it would be a giant step forward for this franchise.

KEY MATCHUPS

TBY LG Harvey Kasowski[Rookie] vs. CHT NT Marlon Rook

The first round selection of the Torpedos has gotten little press due to the marquee match-ups that Ackerman has had as a rookie LT. This week could be a huge test for the rookie guard though. Rook is the leading pass rusher of the Sixpacks with 15 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 Block, and 2 Hurries with a 4.7 Pass Rush Percent. Rook is a hard hitting, quick Tackle. We've known that Kasowski's strength will be in the passing game more so than the running game, but he has done an admirable job run-blocking despite his lack of natural ability in that area. he is 6/21 (28.5%) in Key Run Blocks and has only allowed 1 Sack in 129 Pass Plays (0.7%) which puts him ahead of the veteran RT, Bedell. It is my hunch that the 4 year veteran could teach the rookie a few things about the game of football this week.

CHT QB Timothy Gordon vs TBY Secondary

This is possibly the most intrigueing match-up of the game. Gordon is the #2 rated passer in the league (101.9), #5 in yards (1129 yards), and is second in TDs (8), but is also tied for the fewest Ints (1). He has been a consistent, dominating force for this Charleston team. He takes this attack against the #11 ranked Passing Defense that is #1 in ypa (5.21 yards). The 10 turnovers that the Secondary has contributed to is good for 10th in the league and they hope to take Gordon out of the lead for fewest interceptions. I feel that the TBY Secondary has the capability to make Gordon look like an above-average QB instead of an excellent QB, but that is the best we could hope for.

RB Elias Alvey vs CHT DLine

In this unusually heavy 3-4 League, the Sixpacks come with their own front 3 attack. They are not only good at the pass-rush, but they are 10th in the league in rushing yards. However, they are 20th in ypc (3.93) while Alvey is one of the top rushers in the league with his 4.0 ypc and is #1 in the league with 575 rushing yards. Alvey has done well against 3-4 defenses so far this year, and hopes to continue that success. He is, as always, THE key to this game. The Sixpacks have an outstanding Pass Defense, and Manuel we know cannot carry this team. So Alvey needs to take control early to prevent the Torpedos from having to come from behind.

KEYS TO WINNING

Tampa Bay Torpedos
Code:
[1] Create Turnovers [2] Elias Alvey's continued success [3] Time of Possession dominance
Las Vegas Crawfish
Code:
[1] Contain Elias Alvey [2] RB-by-committee's continued success [3] Build lead early
FINAL THOUGHTS

The Torpedos need to perform well early to have a chance in this game. In-particular, Alvey must perform well early. If Tampa can open their first drive up with a sustained drive and a score, it should bode well. If they fail to score their first time down, but Charleston has success, it will be a sign of a long day. Charleston has so many weapons on offense and one of the top defenses in the league, so it will be a battle the whole way. However, Alvey is capable of dominating a game and the Tampa defense is #1 in ypa and #3 in ypc, so they can control a game also.

PREDICTION
Charleston Six Packs by 7

Should be an interesting game for sure. It might just come down to me having home-field advantage in this one.

My main focus is shutting down your running attack; that's a no-brainer.

Hey Wade, just found your dynasty. Good stuff. I'll be following the Torpedoes. Too bad we can't arrange an intra-league contest between your Torpedoes and my Sharks.

P.S. I see you live in Williamsburg. Many moons ago I lived in Va. Beach, VA and used to drive up to colonial Williamsburg all the time.

And my main focus, of course, is to get that running game going above all else! I have some strategies that I HOPE will make that happen, but who knows... your team is just so well-rounded that my 1-dimensional offense could be the death of me.

Good to hear you will be following Tampa, it's nice to have another fan! An intra-league contest would be cool... maybe a feature to request from Jim... kind of like how you can export teams in madden to play your friends ...

Ah Colonial Williamsburg... I go there often, it is a favorite spot to walk my dogs since so many other people walk their dogs there too....

I don't think there is any way Alvey doesn't at least get 80-90 yards, just have to make sure to force some fumbles/picks and keep Manuels yardage around 150 or so. The more I think about this game, the more I think it's going to be a blowout by either side.

At least I've got a couple of hours to make my export before I head to Minneapolis here.

Good luck!

Yeah.. I see one of two scenarios:

1) Alvey takes control of the game and the TBY Secondary picks off a pass early putting TBY up early and ball control offense takes over.

2) The Charleston Passing game explodes and is the first team to find a way to exploit some weakness in the TBY secondary that no one else has. If anyone can, it is them.

Either way, it is a blow-out...

KEY MATCHUPS REVISITED

TBY LG Harvey Kasowski[Rookie] vs. CHT NT Marlon Rook

[b]Kasowski was 2/3 on Key Run Blocks, but allowed 1 sack. But, the sack was not from Rook who only managed 1 Hurry and 2 Tackles. Kasowski seems to have barely gotten the better of this matchup.

CHT QB Timothy Gordon vs TBY Secondary

Gordon did just as I suspected he might. He found a way to get through the TBY Secondary. He's numbers were not spectacular, but he was efficient and did pass for the only TD in the game. The Secondary managed 1 Int, but did little to prevent Gordon from moving the ball at crucial points of the game.

RB Elias Alvey vs CHT DLine

The weird thing is, Alvey really got this best of this matchup. However, for some reason he did not get the ball. He only got 15 carries, even though he had 5.0 ypc.

SYNOPSIS

I don't understand some of what happened in this game. My gameplan was just as run heavy in this game as my other games and I was generally within 7 points of the lead. Yet my passing numbers are way higher than I would expect. With Manuel being ineffective, this spelled disaster. However, even with that we were 1 prevented fumble away from the chance to sneak away with a win here.

INJURY NEWS:

Week 7 Preview:
Shreveport Pride (1-4)
AT
Tampa Bay Torpedos(4-2) (-10)

OVERVIEW

Shreveport has struggled this year, but hopes to recover well after a bye-week last week. The Pride team ranks towards the bottom in many of the major team categories (27th Offensive Rushing, 18th Offensive Passing, 20th Defensive Rushing, 25th in Defensive Passing). However, in yards per they do well except for in Offensive Passing (31st in ypa). Playing the Torpedos could bode well for them in this case as we are 30th in Offensive ypa (5.19).

KEY MATCHUPS

TBY LT Kevin Ackerman[Rookie] vs. SHR DE Junior Newton or SHR RE Scottie Berosik[Rookie]

Starting DE Harland Weir strained his deltoid muscle last game and is out for 2 weeks. This means that one of the two young DEs will have to play in his place. Neither has seen the field enough in their careers to show they can do much of anything. Ackerman, on the otherhand, has shown some great flashes. In 5 games, he is 6th amongst linemen in BPct with 46.6% (7/15). He has struggled more in pass blocking where he has allowed 4 sacks and has a 2.8 SPct. If he can control these young DE's, it could help Alvey have a big day.

SHR QB Douglas Hartman vs TBY Secondary

TBY is licking their chops at this matchup. Hartman has a 8/7 TD/Int Ratio this year, only completes 56.0% of his passes, and has a 76.9 QB Rating. They hope to create some turnovers and swing things into the favor of TBY.

RB Elias Alvey vs SHR DLine

A team that is 24th against the run, but looks worse than they are. They are actually 10th in ypc, but are 24th in rushes so they get run on a lot. However, they are also with their starting DE and will be forced to move a younger, less talented DE in his place. This is on a right side of the line where they already averaged 5.0 yards on them to that side. Expect Alvey to exploit that. In the meantime, Alvey continues as the leagues top rusher with 651 yards and 5 TDs. If he can make it over 20 carries and 100 yards, expect TBY to win this one.

KEYS TO WINNING

Tampa Bay Torpedos
Code:
[1] Create Turnovers [2] Elias Alvey's continued success [3] Reduce # Passes thrown
Las Vegas Crawfish
Code:
[1] Contain Elias Alvey [2] Keep down Hartman's Ints [3] Build lead early

FINAL THOUGHTS

There is no reason that the Torpedos should lose this game. We need to get over a tough loss last week and show that we are a playoff contender. As stated earlier, if Alvey can get at least 20 carries and 100 yards, this will be a W for Tampa.

KEY MATCHUPS REVISITED

TBY LT Kevin Ackerman[Rookie] vs. SHR DE Junior Newton or SHR RE Scottie Berosik[Rookie]

As I stated already, Ackerman's partner in crime, Kasowski, had a rough day. Ackerman, on the other hand, took advantage of every opportunity he had going 2/2 on KRBs and not allowing a sack. Berosik got the starting nod, and managed 4 tackles and 1 hurry. The team had 7 carries and 31 yards to Ackerman's side for 4.4 ypc. I call this a success for the Rookie LT.

SHR QB Douglas Hartman vs TBY Secondary

As I suspected, the TBY Secondary took advantage of Hartman. He managed a measly 48% Comp rate and 4.4 ypa. With the help of the front seven, Hartman committed 4 turnovers, which contributed to the high TBY point total.

RB Elias Alvey vs SHR DLine

Another victory for our team in these matchups. We managed to get the ball into Alvey's hands consistently. He was handed the ball 37 times for 120 yards and 2 TDs. The SHR DLine has the added embarrasment of a FB getting a 44 yard TD on them.

SYNOPSIS

This was a textbook game for how I wish the rest of the season would go. Alvey got the ball 25+ times and the defense created turnovers. That is a recipe for success for this team and it was proven today. As a side note, it is cool to see FB Levy's success. He has now gotten two 40+ yard TD runs. He has 23 carries for 149 yards (6.4 ypc) and 3 TDs.

INJURY NEWS:

Week 8 Preview:
San Antonio Armadillos (4-3)
AT
Tampa Bay Torpedos(5-2) (-3)

OVERVIEW

San Antonio has had one of the toughest schedules this year playing only 2 teams with losing records, yet they are still at 4-3. At this point they are 1-2 against the AC East and we hope to make it 1-3. On offense they are led by QB Joaquin Luster who puts up great yardage, but can be very errant. He is second in the league in yards (1740), 3rd in ypa (7.63), and 1st in TD's. Yet he only has a 69.6 QB Rating. That is because he has the most Int's in the league (16), has been sacked more than anyone (20) besides Lin of Boise, and is middle of the road in comp % at 57.4. He helps to put the team at 24th in turnover margin (-5). However, the Armadillos bring to the field the 28th ranked running game in the league. The team only has 3 rushing TD's in 7 games.

The defensive side of the ball is the completely opposite story. The defense is 8th in the league in rushing yards allowed (687), and 3rd in the league in ypc (3.31). On the other hand, they are 32nd in passing yards allowed. Partly this is due to the opposing team being forced to pass often with the 2nd best scoring offense in the league (22.0).

This poses an interesting matchup against our Torpedos. The Torpedos offense is a mirror image of the Armadillos. 1st in Rushing Yards (1,037: led by league leading rusher Elias Alvey), 6th in ypc (4.25), but 26th in passing yards (1,065) and 29th in ypa (5.43). The defense, on the otherhand, is very well rounded. Led up front by DE Weiland, the defense is 11th in rushing yards (706), 17th in ypc (3.87), 13 in passing yards (1,259), and 3rd in ypa (5.26). These two units combined make up for the league's 6th best turnover margin (+6).

KEY MATCHUPS

SAO LT Michael Knott vs. TBY RE Chris Weiland

Weiland is coming off of a game in which I gave him the team's game ball. He continues to be the anchor of the D-Line and leagues the league in Sacks (9.0), Hurries (16), and PrPct (11.8) - and that is coming out of a 3-4. Knott, has the stats of a run-blocking specialist. He has excelled with a 34.7 Krb % and is only 2 shy of his total Key Run Blocks last year (8 this year). However, he allowed 18 sacks last year for a SPct of 2.5% and has allowed 3 thus far this year with a BPct of 1.2%. Weiland should be relatively successfuly at getting to the SAO QB this game.

SAO QB Jaoquin Luster vs TBY Secondary

I know the secondary seems to be in here every week, but they are a crucial part of this team. Especially when they go against the QB that has thrown the most Int's this season. Look for S Burgess to catch up to season leader Alphonso Twombley of Portland for the league lead in Int's this season.

TBY QB Lane Manuel vs SAO Secondary

This matchup could make or break this game. The SAO secondary has been ABISMAL this season. They are 32nd in almost every category. If Manuel can get in a groove, it could really set the pace for a steady TBY offense.

KEYS TO WINNING

Tampa Bay Torpedos
Code:
[1] Keep Luster from settling in the pocket [2] Elias Alvey's continued success [3] Create Turnovers
San Antonio Armadillos
Code:
[1] Contain Elias Alvey [2] Hold back pass rush [3] Build lead early

FINAL THOUGHTS

Tampa should be able to win this one, unless San Antonio learns what Charleston did to our secondary. The strength in this Armadillos team will be stacked directly against the strength of the Torpedos team. I think the Torpedos will get the best of it.

PREDICTION
Tampa Bay by 3

KEY MATCHUPS REVISITED

SAO LT Michael Knott vs. TBY RE Chris Weiland

Weiland had another solid game against the pass. He tallied no sacks, but still disrupted Luster quite a bit with 2 hurries and 2 pass blocks. However, SAo did run 4 times for 35 yards to his side.

SAO QB Jaoquin Luster vs TBY Secondary

This was a bit of a draw. Luster gained substantial yardage (296 Yards) and threw 0 picks, but it was on 20 for 47 passing. In addition, 14 passes were defensed and 3 blocked.

TBY QB Lane Manuel vs SAO Secondary

Ding ding! We have a winner! Manuel had his most solid game yet. It was nothing for the highlight reels, but that is not what we need. We need him to feed the ball to Alvey and not throw picks. Manuel is progressing quite nicely.

SYNOPSIS

What a game this was! Something I noticed was P Ackerman's injury appears to have a bit of an affect on him and our field position game. He was very sporadic. He pinned 3 inside the 20, but he had atleast 3 that were less than 35 yards and gave SAO great field position. I have to wonder how much this contributed to how close this game was. All in all, this went according the script and for the first time I was DEAD ON in my prediction that we would win by 3.

Also, I found this in the transaction logs:

Code:
Player Team Pos Transaction Terms Weiland, Chris Long Beach Calibri DE released

But it does not show TBY signing him.. weird... it was before I took the team over, I know that...

Oh.. and he's only costing me $1mil this year and $1.5 next...

Of course, I'm guessing he'll want big money to extend...
