this is completely wrong. after LASIK, you need to wear protective goggles while you sleep to protect you from rubbing your eyes or pushing them into the pillow. The corneal tissue is the fastest regenerating tissue in the human body, and after a week with the goggles, and 3 of no swimming or contact sports, you can do what ever you want. they told me that even if i did rub my eyes before they healed totally, they could still just recut the cornea and put it back (but it would hurt like a bitch until they fixed it).

what's a "contact sport"? also, no swimming if you wear goggles or is it to avoid the possibility of getting splashed?

I was told not to surf or swim for the first six weeks or so, so not to have the problem in your second paragraph happen. He told me after the six weeks my eye would be fully healed and then I could start surfing again.

cartman, saldana & pennywiseb:

Thank you for the info.

Now I need to go back to that place and slap the chick that told me it would always be an 'open' wound. Then I need to slap myself for not getting the LASIK. My wife won some radio contest for free LASIK and all I had to do was make it through the consultation (which I did) and set up an appointment to get it done. I passed on the offer due to what that chick said.

Oh well, live and learn I guess.

I really want to get Lasik, but I couldn't stand paying for it and then having my eyes heal in a couple years and go back to being screwed.
