I actually wrote what is essentially a poker server. It is actually a poker dealing "bot" that resides on FICS, the free internet chess server. We could always play with that (lol). It only deals limit holdem, but hey

I think I ran into your maniac tonight in a $10 tourney at partypoker. I went head to head with him a couple of times before he chipped out and finished 10th. This guy is a very, very poor poker player. (Quiksand101)

As for me, I held a chip lead of 5000 vs the rest of the field (with 4 remaining players), played one hand poorly and then lost to an unlikely straight flush. Finished 2nd and won $30.

I see lots of FOFCers enjoying online poker. I have never played poker online and I am wondering how these poker sites keep players from cheating? For example, say I am in the same game with Chubby and QuikSand. What stops me from calling them on the phone and telling them what I am holding?

Mrs. Q: It's for you, says it's some judicial clerk.
Q: Ummmm... I don't know any judicial clerks. Must be a wrong number.
Mrs. Q: He says he knows you.
Q: I'm kinda busy right here, I just flopped top pair with an ace kicker.
Mrs. Q: Ummm... he says to lay it down, he has the set of nines.

In practice, I guess there's nothing stopping people from doing something like this. At the standing tables, it would be easy enough to collaborate, and you could gain some advantage by doing so. I have trouble imagining peopl doing this at the low levels with any regularity - but I might be naive about it. It would be tough to cooridnate timing to get into the sit-and-go tournemtns together, especially at the always-busy Party Poker - but I suppose it happens.

Collusion happens, but it is pretty rare. Usually, the colluders will IM each other their hands, or be on the phone with each other during the playing session. I wouldn't be too concerned with it at the lower limits.

As for the higher limits, collusion is more common, but still not rampant. Partypoker only has one 30/60 game, and they actually have a person monitoring the game at all times. Since they only have one 30/60, you'll sometimes see over 100 people on the waiting list.

I would think this happens a lot in person also. Maybe not blatent cheating, but I recognize a lot a regulars at our casinos who won't ever go head to with each other. Now while this isn't necessarly cheating I consider it pretty unethical.

I've been playing on UltimateBet, but I'm considering placing my next real money deposit someplace else. Any suggestions? Should I just stick with UltimateBet?

are there any sites where I can play for free and DON'T need to download anything to install? I can pretty much surf what I want at work, but I can't install anything on my machine.

Yahoo might offer something, but you might have to download some kind of software to play all of their games. Worth checking out if that's what you're looking for.

Looks like there's an increase in FOFC players at Poker Stars, thanks to our regular private tournaments.

PokerStars has become my "home" now, yet I notice that I never asked to be added to the PokerStars listing here. My name on Stars is "PumpyTudors" (since they don't allow whitespace in names - grr).
