Probably Hard Times. Good chili nachos, and a decent variety of salads (chili salad, buffalo chicken salad, southwest salad). Salads are all I eat anyway when I'm out.

Oh wait....damn. Golden Corral might come close. But right now I'm leaning to Hard Times.

I'd take Johnny Carino's over Carraba's and Olive Garden.

But for a place to eat every day? I'd go with Cheesecake Factory due to the great menu or the local diner for the same reason.

TGI Friday's

more for the different foods on their menu than anything else

I guess there are many other restaurants you could say the same about too.

I don't really see them as competitors, personally as there's about a half step between them. I end up spending about a decent chunk of money more at Carrabba's whereas Olive Garden, you can get out of for pretty darn cheap.

Sadly, I can spend about an hour coming up with a tiered ranking system.

But Carrabba's is good, I'd say on par with a solid local Italian place that you're cool with going to once a week.

This is a tough one but I may just have to say Cheesecake factory because although the food can range from below mediocre to pretty good; the cheesecake is awesome and it would probably take the rest of my life to try everything on the menu.

Seems like an overly harsh criticism of something with the words buffet and chain in the name. Of course, it's not a local high end sushi restaurant. They don't have crazy super speciality rolls. But they definitely have decent stuff and their variety is pretty good. And, by comparison, I can drop $40+ at a really good sushi place if I tried whereas Todai's $15 for lunch and $30 for dinner.

I'm going to VEgas for my honeymoon in September and I'm excited to try out some of the chains we don't have in Boston such as El Pollo Loco, Sonic and Jack in the Box.

p.s. Vinny T's (used to be Vinny Teste's, which is more fitting) is an abomination.

True. Plus I live in the Sushi capital in the US. I just find it hard to believe that people actually enjoy going to a mall restaurant?

There's a sushi bar in Northridge I've gone to a few times that has an all you can eat sushi option that is really really good. Much better than Todai, though Todai is good if you like all of the other stuff they serve as well or need to go a place with people who don't like sushi.

As for my choice, I am not sure. I used to go to chains all the time growing up with my family, but much prefer more local/romantic/mom&pop/culturized restaurants as an adult. My fiancee and I usually try new places when we go out. Still, based on the question, it would have to be some place with a good variety of items.

I'd probably choose The Claim Jumper. I rarely eat there because it's so unhealthy, but with that not being a consideration, there food is good with large portions and a lot of variety.
