Giants bailed SD out there.
Giants completely screwed themselves, giving up a very good QB and a bunch of picks for another, umm, very good QB?

San Diego did EVERYTHING wrong here, and STILL got a top QB and a bunch of picks. What a blunder by the Giants.

I like this deal by the Chargers... that's a lot of players and Rivers isn't that much less than Manning.

When they announced the trade, I though "Ok here we go, the trade they've been talking about"
Then he said "And next year's 1st round pick..." And it happened. I had an aneurysm. |

Well, Eli's pretty close to a sure thing as a top QB. That's quite a rarity. But considering next year's pick will be in the mid-teens probably (just a guess, but it's a tough division and they still have numerous holes, plus a rookie QB starting, plus Coughlin's first year as coach of the team)...I have to agree, that's a lot to give up. Not a cap-friendly move.

THem trying ot get Eli was made fine when Gallery was taken #2...but to give up next year's 1st round pick for him...that's just horrible. Terrible. Eli Manning is not worth that much more than Rivers.

Wow. Browns are trading, too.
Eli Manning for Philip Rivers + 3rd in 2004 + 1st in 2005 + 5th in 2005 is the Giants deal. |

I would expect Kerry Collins to be the starter going into the season, unless Eli steals the job. If Eli steals the job, then there should be no argument. I hear that Kerry Collins has one more season on his contract and that gives them a chance to slide Eli in at his own pace.

I think Ernie Accorsi may have just saved Terry Bradway's job. |

I was hoping the Skins would take Winslow...I think Taylor was by far the better pick.

Maybe they expect their first round pick to be low because they are going to have a good year next season...?

I just think it was interesting that Rivers was taken ahead of Roethlesburger, when a few months ago that would have been unthinkable.

There's talk about Collins being released if the Giants got Eli, so Collins won't necessarily be starting.

Browns traded their second round pick to Detroit. Detroit moves down one spot. This leaves them to either 1) take Roy Williams, who they are very high on or 2) trade down again, get even more picks, and take Steven Jackson, the RB they most desperately need.

This is great for the Vikings that no d-lineman have been taken yet. I pray they don't take a LB.

I love those deals to move down one pick. I think Cleveland made a mistake making that trade...I don't think another team was looking to move up to get Winslow II.

I just don't think the Lions wanted to take either a Tight End (Winslow) or Safety (Taylor) at #6. I guess they are banking on Ricks coming back into form (not likely) or getting a TE later in the draft. The Lions have a ton of holes. A ton. I think skipping down one spot for an additional second rounder was worth it. With the #37 pick (the Brown's second round pick) the Lions will have a chance to draft another possible starter at some position of need. |

And the Lions take Roy Williams.. you think a RB would be something they'd want (nothing against Williams).

If he and Rogers develop according to their draft position, that'll be a hell of a combo at receiver for the Lions.

I agree. The guy is good enough to play the one trump card he has, why not use it. If he were a different kid, with a different pedigree, no one would be jumping his shit. But because he's a Manning, he's supposed to fit everyone's stereotype? Screw that. |

Could the Lions take a RB with 1 one of those 2nds?

Wait... why did the Browns give a 2ND ROUND pick to move up one spot?!
