I think as this dynasty goes along it would be fun to follow the career earnings for the guys as well.

Pitching for the hometown Nats -- very nice! Even if I have to put up with Nielsen and his massive ego.

Awesome. This is exactly what I was going for when I decided to max out "Eye". Love that I'm slow and walk alot. I can clog up the bases and piss Joe Morgan off.

2008 JULY/AUGUST UPDATE - MLB
Some bad news to report... SP Rob Nielsen (#21) free agent USER: Coffee Warlord I've been trying to wrap my head around this and figure out how everything happened, but it's too difficult. Nielsen went 2-3 with the Nationals in eight starts, with an ERA of 5.08 and 55 K. Then on July 30th Washington traded Nielsen to the Kansas City Royals for a minor leaguer named Pippino Valturri. Nielsen never got into a game with the Royals, and they released him on August 9th. What the heck happened? How do you treat an 18-year-old like that? Meanwhile, another of our FOFCers got a taste of life in the show. Scroll down to see who.... LF Al Mighty (#32) Baltimore Orioles USER: thealmighty ROSTER SPOT: starting LF (against righties only), batting 2nd POPULARITY: unknown CONTRACT: $350,000 (thru 2008) Mighty's contract was purchased from the Orioles on July 26th, and he has been in Baltimore ever since. The Orioles needed warm bodies; their regulars have been dropping like flies, including SS Omar Vizquel (strained PCL) and 3B Aubrey Huff (fractured skull). Still, Mighty has done well for himself. He has hit .277/.302/.347 in 24 games. Before being called up to the show, Mighty hit .338/.374/.463 with AAA Norfolk with 13 RBI. By the way, there were no call-ups from the minors on September 1st.

2008 JULY/AUGUST UPDATE - TRIPLE A
LF Zinto Hirdt (#17) Indianapolis Indians, IL ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh Pirates USER: Zinto ROSTER SPOT: starting LF, batting 3rd POPULARITY: well known (fair locally) Hirdt is batting .290/.331/.357 with 25 stolen bases and 10 RBI. SP Deacon "Hurricane" Palmer (#21) Indianapolis Indians, IL ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh Pirates USER: ntndeacon ROSTER SPOT: 1st in the rotation POPULARITY: well known Hurricane went 2-6 with a 3.78 ERA and 27 K in Altoona. On August 8th Palmer strained a bicep muscle in a game, which put him out of action for four weeks. That didn't stop the Pirates when, on August 15th, they moved Palmer to AAA Indianapolis (joining Zinto Hirdt), but of course he has yet to pitch a game. C Nicolas Fillion (#8) Richmond Braves, IL ORGANIZATION: Atlanta Braves USER: duff88 ROSTER SPOT: backup C POPULARITY: unknown Fillion is angry at the Braves. Despite playing in 103 games for Richmond this year, batting .276/.312/.371 with 6 HR and 46 RBI (and having another 5-hit game on August 16th), the 18-year-old has rode the bench for much of August. The Braves even sent him down to AA Mississippi for just one game, then brought him back to ride the pine. At least he played some games at catcher in July. C Hideaki Tanaka (#8) Durham Bulls, IL ORGANIZATION: Tampa Bay Rays USER: Dark Cloud ROSTER SPOT: Starting C, batting 8th/9th POPULARITY: popular (extremely popular locally) Tanaka batted .216/.252/.310 with high A Vero Beach. But on July 6th he fractured his wrist and will be out of action for two months. Despite that, the Rays just promoted him to AAA Durham on September 1st. 2B Eric Anderson (#22) Ottawa Lynx, IL ORGANIZATION: Philadelphia Phillies USER: cmp ROSTER SPOT: 3rd 2B POPULARITY: fair The Phillies called Anderson up from high A Clearwater to AA Reading on July 8th. Before the move, Anderson hit .333/.370/.402 for Clearwater with 11 RBI. In Reading, Anderson hit .328/.353/.379 with 26 RBI in 47 games. The Phillies just moved Anderson to Ottawa on September 1st, assigning him as their third 2B. SS Will "The Real Deal" Brown (#7) Omaha Royals, PCL ORGANIZATION: Kansas City Royals USER: vex ROSTER SPOT: starting SS, batting 2nd/5th POPULARITY: well known The Real Deal was just called up to Omaha on September 1st. Before that, he hit .255/.316/.306 for AA Wichita this season. He had 2 HR, 35 RBI, and 36 walks. CF Willie Mays Hayes (#91) Iowa Cubs, PCL ORGANIZATION: Chicago Cubs USER: Dolemite73 ROSTER SPOT: starting CF, batting 3rd POPULARITY: well known Hayes is hitting .312/.380/.414 this season, with 8 HR, 42 RBI, and 25 SB. Lately a sore knee has hampered his play, but he continues to start. 1B/SS Andrew Foley (#23) Oklahoma RedHawks, PCL ORGANIZATION: Texas Rangers USER: PackerFanatic ROSTER SPOT: starting 1B/SS, batting 1st POPULARITY: well known Foley continues to impress. He hit .268/.299/.335 in AA Frisco with 18 RBI and seven stolen bases before being called up to Oklahoma on September 1st. He had a five-hit game against Corpus Christi on July 1st.

SS Micah Williams (#12) Jacksonville Suns, SL ORGANIZATION: Los Angeles Dodgers USER: Recoil ROSTER SPOT: starting SS, batting 2nd POPULARITY: insignificant (well known locally) Micah ended up batting .429/.472/.480 in the Gulf Coast League. He was outclassing the competition, so the Dodgers moved him to low A ball on August 1st, where he hit .308/.351/.374. That was enough to get him called up to AA on September 1st. 1B Dave O'Shea (#13) Carolina Mudcats, SL ORGANIZATION: Florida Marlins USER: thehitcat ROSTER SPOT: starting 1B/DH, batting 5th POPULARITY: fair O'Shea finished his time in Greensboro (low A) with averages/percentages of .335/.367/.433, 40 RBI, and 20 BB. On August 1st he was called up to high A Jupiter. In six games he hit .125/.192/.208. Ignoring those stats, the Marlins moved him to AA on August 8th, where he has been ever since. He is hitting .244/.279/.268.

Yeah, but you just made in a couple months, what it's going to take me 10 years in the minors to make, so go sit at home and cry in your Wheaties.

Gimme the slow and steady rise through the minors, with good even development along the way, to the meteoric rise to the top with a bad blowout when you get there. Tyler had a nice, long year, with good stats, I expect a nice promotion to AA for next year.

I'd say the latter. Your potentials look good to me (stuff/movement/control: 20/13/8), and your current ratings (20/11/5) look as if you could pitch against major league competition right now. I'm not sure what the problem is.

2008 END OF REGULAR SEASON UPDATE - MLB
SP Rob Nielsen (#21) Kansas City Royals USER: Coffee Warlord ROSTER SPOT: 4th in the rotation POPULARITY: unknown CONTRACT: $350,000 (thru 2008) CAREER EARNINGS: $700,000 (I'm guessing the previous contract was guaranteed or something?) Apparently the Royals had second thoughts about getting rid of Nielsen. Nearly a month after releasing him, the Royals re-signed Nielsen on September 2nd. The 19-year-old pitched one game in the rookie league, then one game in AA, and just like that he was back in a major league rotation. He pitched behind Nathan Bumstead (8-17, 5.23), Tyler Lumsden (4-1, 5.02), and Luke Hudson (18-11, 3.68), but ahead of Zack Greinke (9-9, 5.30) LF Al Mighty (#32) Baltimore Orioles USER: thealmighty ROSTER SPOT: starting LF, batting 1st POPULARITY: unknown CONTRACT: $350,000 (thru 2008) CAREER EARNINGS: $350,000 Al Mighty moved into the starting lineup full-time in September, the first FOFC batter to do so.

MLB PLAYOFFS
In the American League, Minnesota swept Tampa Bay in three games in the divisional series, while Seattle beat Detroit three games to one. Minnesota would then win the ALCS in five games to advance to the World Series. In the National League, both NLDS series went to five games. Colorado beat the defending champs Philly, while Florida beat Pittsburgh. The NLCS also went the distance, as Florida beat Colorado in seven games. In the World Series, the Florida Marlins were crowned champs after beating Minnesota in six games in the battle of wild-card teams. MINOR LEAGUE PLAYOFFS In the International League, the Richmond Braves (Nicolas Fillion) made it to the playoffs, but lost in the semifinals to Scranton-Wilkes Barre three games to two. Fillion played in all five games (started, in fact) with 3 hits, 2 RBI, 7 K, and a BB. In the Pacific Coast League quarterfinals, the Iowa Cubs (Willie Mays Hayes) swept Albuquerque in three games, but the Omaha Royals (Will Brown) lost in five games to New Orleans. Iowa went on to play New Orleans in the semifinals, but lost to New Orleans in six games. Hayes played in all nine games, with a .333 AVG, 3 RBI, 4 BB, 8 K, and 4 SB. Meanwhile, Brown had six hits in 18 AB in his five playoff games. He had two RBI and a walk to go with 3 K. In the Southern League, the Jacksonville Suns (Micah Williams) made the playoffs, but were swept in three by Huntsville in the semifinals. Micah had two hits in 10 AB during the series, with one run. No FOFCer teams made the playoffs in the high-A California League, nor the low-A South Atlantic League and Midwest League. In the Pioneer League, the Helena Brewers (Jace Hunter) went to the playoffs, but lost in the semifinals to Casper in the maximum five games. Hunter hit .357 with four RBI and four BB in the five games. In the Appalachian League, the Danville Braves (Larry McGillicuddy) qualified for the league championship, but lost three games to two to Bristol. McGillicuddy played in two of those games, with one hit, three RBI, and two walks. In the Gulf Coast League, the Mets (Frank Justice) qualified for the semifinals, but lost to the Orioles three games to one. Justice did not pitch in the playoffs. So, still no FOFCer has tasted a championship, major or minor. AWARDS The AL MVP award went to Minnesota's Justin Morneau (.343, 46, 144), while the NL award went to Florida SS Hanley Ramirez (.360, 31, 123). The AL Cy Young went to Tampa Bay's Scott Kazmir (stats mentioned before), and the NL award went to Philly's Cole Hamels for the second straight year (16-5, 2.14, 259 K). For the second straight year, SS Will Brown wins a Gold Glove award at shortstop, this time from the Texas League. 3B Larry McGillicuddy won a Gulf Coast League Gold Glove at third base. OTHER NEWS AND NOTES * The Orioles (Al Mighty) fired GM J.P. Ricciardi after the season. * Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux, Pedro Martinez, and Frank Thomas were elected to the Hall of Fame.

No trades or the like took place during the offseason, so all players will begin Season 3 with the same organization they were with at the end of Season 2.
I'll still tinkering with the format of this dynasty, trying to balance speed and information. I've decided to go to a new bi-monthly update format (April/May, June/July, August/September), plus an update for the draft and playoffs like before. I hope to start Season 3 within the next day or two. See you then!

Welcome to Season 3 of the FOFC OOTP Interactive Dynasty!
As stated before, I'm still working on the format of the dynasty, in order to provide updates as quickly as possible, what with my busy real life schedule and all. In addition, I want to try to keep this dynasty as image-free as possible from now on. You may find that there will not be as much information as before, or the formatting may not look as nice as before, but I think this will help me sustain the dynasty at a reasonable pace. Of course, if you want more stats or information about your player or anything happening in the game world, feel free to ask and I will do my best to provide it for you. Let's start Season 3 with the Opening Day status of our players.

I like seeing all the FOFCers in the majors. Hopefully Hirdt and Hurricane Palmer can lead the Pirates to another playoff berth. I am enjoying what you are doing with this BB. Anything you can do to make it easier on you and make the dynasty last sounds good to me.

.280/.319/.318 - Need to perform much better than that if I want to make it to the big leagues.
And it looks like the Rays are moving me to LF and are now batting me 3rd. I guess the roids...I mean supplements worked.

2009 PRE-DRAFT LOOK AT THE DRAFTEES
It's draft time again! We have a new group of FOFCers to add to the dynasty. Before we get to the draft, let's take a closer look at the draftees and their strengths (and some weaknesses). 3B Jacob Tyler (#9) USER: PilotMan Dayton, OH, USA September 3, 1991 5'11", 175 Bats left, throws right SCOUT NOTES: Will be a decent contact hitter, but will be a monster gap hitter, and will slam you some homers, too. A nice infielder's arm. Very intelligent on the basepaths. 1B Darryl Tovar (#31) USER: wolverine29 Barrow, AK, USA March 12, 1991 6'2", 220 Bats right, throws right SCOUT NOTES: Will be a monster home run hitter. Will accrue some strikeouts, but nothing that should derail his career. A hard-worker. SP Nick Wadden (#45) USER: iamlegend Toronto, ON, Canada December 8, 1991 6'3", 220 Bats right, throws right SCOUT NOTES: A bona fide future major leaguer. Superb control, excellent movement, and above-average stuff. Has a splitter and changeup. Can go many innings for you, and also great at holding runners. Good defensively as well. Not a leader, and not that smart. 3B Dan "The Man" Schoonover (#13) USER: DanGarion Stanton, CA, USA January 13, 1991 6'4", 220 Bats right, throws right SCOUT NOTES: This guy will be a great extra base hitter. A bit raw, but will eventually lead your team in home runs annually. Will pile up strikeouts, too. Below-average defensive third baseman. Very loyal player. CF Ace Cobb (#9) USER: BYU 14 Augusta-Richmond County, GA, USA March 9, 1991 6'0", 195 Bats left, throws left SCOUT NOTES: Cobb will eventually wield a dangerous bat. He will be a home run machine, but will also hit for contact and draw walks. Not speedy, but a great baserunner. Not so great defensively, but will not make any errors.

2009 JUNE/JULY UPDATE
Stats listed are total stats for the entire year up through July 31st. Players listed in blue are players who are currently in the minor leagues.STATS BATTERS 200907batters.png PITCHERS 200907pitchers.png FOFC PLAYER NEWS AND NOTES
* Kansas City SP Rob Nielsen became the first FOFCer selected to the AL-NL All-Star Game. Unfortunately, he did not play in the 4-3 AL win at Chase Field in Phoenix on July 7th.* Pittsburgh SP Deacon Palmer left the mound after injuring his arm on July 1st. Doctors subsequently found bone chips in the 19-year-old's elbow, and Palmer will be shut down for 6-7 months, ending his 2009 season. While not great, Palmer had done okay for himself in his rookie year. Now he looks forward to 2010. * Kansas City 2B Will "The Real Deal" Brown joined an elite club on July 29th when he went 5-5 against the Angels. Brown hit two home runs (a solo shot and a two-run HR) and three singles (two of them for RBI). His RBI on the day: five. A stunned L.A. Angels manager Willie Randolph said afterwards, "Tip your hat to him... he hit several pitches our scouting report said he couldn't hit." * Brown was not the only FOFCer to join the 5-hits-in-a-game club; Chicago LF Willie Mays Hayes did the same against the San Francisco Giants on July 24th. He went 5-5 as well - all singles. Chicago manager Bruce Bochy said after the game, "I like the way he waited for his pitch and wasn't overly aggressive. Hayes has a tendency to go after some bad balls sometimes." * On June 6th 2B Andrew Foley became the eighth FOFCer in the major leagues - and 9th all-time - when he was promoted up to the Texas Rangers. But his stay was brief, as he was sent back down to AAA on July 26th. Foley hit .259/.286/.407 in 29 games with 2 HR, 8 RBI and 15 K during his stay in Arlington. * More injury news: SS Micah Williams tore an abdominal muscle on July 13th and is in the midst of a five-week stay on the DL. * It was a good July and a bad July for LF Mike Schaplowsky. He was selected for the Southern League All-Star Game held on July 15th. He started and had two AB, including a sacrifice fly that brought in a run for the West Division, which lost to the East 10-4. Unfortunately, on July 29th, he tore a groin muscle and will miss 8 weeks. * Schaplowsky was not the only FOFCer in the Southern League All-Star Game. Larry McGillicuddy and Dave O'Shea started for the game-winning East Division. O'Shea, making his second-straight minor league all-star appearance, went 2-3 with 1 RBI, while McGillicuddy went 1-3 with 1 R and 1 K. * McGillicuddy also had a big day on June 9th when he went 5-5 against Birmingham, including 1 HR, 3 RBI and 1 R. * O'Shea also had a 5-5 day on June 4th against Chattanooga (1 double, 4 RBI, 2 R). * SS Eric Anderson has been shuffled between AAA Ottawa, AA Reading, and the GCL Phillies all summer. He can't be too happy about that. * SS Dex Morgan is looking injury prone. In 2009 he has had a strained hip muscle, a tender shoulder (day-to-day), and a pinched nerve. * 2B Kuji Chagulia continues the parade of FOFCers in all-star games across all levels. He was selected for the Texas League game as a starter. He went 0-3 with a K, but he turned two double plays. * CF David Gonzalez was promoted from Vero Beach to AA Montgomery of the Southern League on June 24th. Before that, he started in the Florida State League All-Star Game on June 20th. He went 0-2 with one run, 1 BB, 1 K, and 1 stolen base. * CF Ace Cobb began his pro career with Visalia of the high-A California League, but was then sent to low-A South Bend on July 1st. Despite a .139 average in Indiana, the Diamondbacks must have been impressed, because today (August 1st) they sent him to AA Mobile. * SP James McDowell was promoted to high-A Kinston Indians of the Carolina League on July 1st. * CL Ivan Carrillo was sent down to low-A Fort Wayne on July 1st, but brought back up to high-A Lake Elsinore on August 1st (today). * After a year and a half in the home of the Masters golf tournament, SP E Z Tyler was finally promoted up to high-A San Jose Giants of the California League on July 1st. *1B Darryl Tovar began his career with Auburn in Short Season A before being promoted today to high-A Dunedin of the Florida State League. *3B Jace Hunter is finally moving up. He played 39 games for low-A West Virginia before being called up today to high-A Brevard County of the Florida State League. * Bad news for MR Frank Justice: he fractured his elbow on July 4th and will miss one year of baseball. * 2009 #1 pick Nick Wadden was first assigned to Great Falls in the rookie Pioneer League. He pitched two games there (1-0, 2.45 ERA) before the White Sox moved him to their other rookie league team, the Bristol Sox of the Appalachian League. * 3B Jacob Tyler played in the GCL before being called up today to Bluefield of the Appalachian League. MLB STANDINGS
200907alstandings.png200907nlstandings.png Tampa Bay and Kansas City still top their divisions, while the Chicago Cubs are in the thick of the NL wild-card race. It looks like Baltimore and Pittsburgh are already out of it. In other news, Colorado is ripping through the National League. 200907leaders.png
