Yeah, in my experience overall, and particularly when meeting guys from New Jersey I'd say whether they tan or not has proven to be a flawless litmus test of whether they are a wannabe-guido douchebag.

The only semi-acceptable argument I've seen for a guy tanning is if you're going on vacation in the winter and you want to get a slight base tan so you don't spend days 2-4 burnt. Even so I've never been able to bring my incredibly pale Irish/Norse/Quebecois self to do it.

I like tans if the person is supposed to be tan naturally, but I don't like tans on those who wouldn't normally have one. I've just always thought it looked....maybe trashy is too strong of a word, but it's the only one I can think of. Also, look what tanning does to people when they age. It isn't pretty.

I'm surprised nobody has made a distinction here between "natural" tan and fake tan.

I think natural tan is hot, but the chicks who walk around a muddy shade of orange with bleach blond hair and fake boobies don't really press my buttons.
