Good point, but in the end I'd rather stare at someone in a USC jersey than in burnt orange. BTW, what's the deal with Dodds trying to move the game from Dallas because he doesn't want OU to benefit in recruiting, then trying to set up this supposed Arkansas game to take its place at Jerry's World? |

I just read that the game will have 12 new player ratings. I'm guessing they'll use the same ones as NFL Head Coach including short, medium, and long accuracy for QB's.

Short, medium and long accuracy for QB's provides us with three new ways to see wide open receivers drop ball after ball.

I didn't realize the big bugs in '06...
I got put on probation with this one team of mine. It said no TV appearances, fewer scholarships and no bowl games for 3 years. Yet, I ended up in a bowl game the first year and the scholarship bug during off-season recruiting was so bad that I had unlimited points and like 200 scholarships. Wow...i had no idea.

Jrob on IGN (take the source for what it is worth) mentioned a few more small details about 360 version of NCAA:
- Importing of players from NCAA to Madden will work. - The game runs at 30 FPS as did Madden 06. - Full box scores for over 800 games in Dynasty mode. Full team and player stats over the long term. - No create a school mode this year. |

I would give anything to see the QB making poss reads from the defense (through qb cone vision), and the same for the mlb making reads through which ol is uncovered etc. Would love to see OL traps executed during running plays, and Rb's really high steppin' when goin through a pile.

IGN has an article up listing the top 25 QBs in game, all their attributes, and an in action photo. Interesting for those who care.

Does anyone know if there's an option where you can grow the grass on the field to prevent speedier teams from scoring.

They had it last year as well. I planted sundews all across my home stadium's field and was able to shutout 3 speedy teams. I still ran into trouble, however, because the slow, fat team I faced during homecoming was largely unaffected by the plant's transparent, sticky mucilage.

I keep going back and forth on whether to get the 360 version or the original version. I pre-ordered for the 360, but the current gen versions do have some really nice features that I find myself wishing were included on the 360 version this year.

I'm pretty sure the Race For The Heisman or whatever it's called now won't be in the 360, team specific playbooks and trick plays didn't make it to the 360, not sure what else.

I can easily do without the Race for the Heisman. Trick plays as well (I smell AI busting plays there).
The team specific playbooks being left out, though...that doesn't bother me a bit. Part of the fun of NCAA is going against very different teams. One goes vertical passing, the next week you have to stop the option. Last edited by sabotai : 06-03-2006 at 04:09 PM. |

I'm really confused on why some options are not in the 360 version. They've had what.. about a year to work with the 360 development kit? Really no reason why the 360 shouldn't be as good, if not better than the standard versions.
Boy this next-gen stuff is getting more and more disappointing by the day. |

About to leave work and didn't get a chance to copy the link, but according to the sportsbag column on IGN (written by JRob I think), the 360 version is adding team specific plays and formations prior to release. He takes credit for it in his column as EA sports obviously read his complaints and only his complaints and are making the two versions more equal.
Anyway, despite his narcissism, or the reason that EA is upgrading the 360 version, I'm glad they are doing so, and feel better about keeping my preorder for the 360 version. |

Excellent. I have avoided much interest in this year's version. Maybe I can go a year without buying the newest version. Although if the 360 version is good, that may thwart all my plans to wait for a price drop.

Nope, the Terps had Akron's stadium in the first screens for the 360. Complete with Akron logos. Kinda thought they would have Byrd Stadium in there since they're in the ACC.

This would be the one game that would cause me to abandon my wait for the PS3 and buy an XBOX 360.

I'm kind of at a crossroads.
I'm out here for 6 months, but there are game consoles available to play on. Should I buy the game (most likely preordered) and a memory whatever they call it, and hope for times to play it, or just wait till December? Decisions, decisions.

From the review "Well, NCAA is going to pale in comparison to the current-gen version in terms of features. While a 30-year career is long, the mode itself is very basic and shallow in comparison to current-gen offerings."
It is missing the trick plays of the current-gen version, for reasons I know not. But the atmosphere of the gorgeous stadiums, the crowds and even the broadcast team suck me in. The playbooks are bigger on 360, but there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to run a reverse on a next-gen console. Off the field, the Dynasty mode gets the job done, but the features are eerily similar to NCAA Football 1998. That is play season, recruit players, play season, etc" Now, I could live w/out the Chase for the Heisman mode, but I wish they would go into a little more detail on what exactly is missing from the dynasty mode on the 360 version. |

I thought the dynasty mode would pretty much be the same features and maybe look a little different on the UI. Does anyone know if you still get to target players in season?
Oh, and I would be happy if they never wasted time on that worthless race for the Heisman. I would prefer they spend the programming time on making a in game SAVE. It kills me that you can save during a game in Madden, but EA absolutely refuses to add that to NCAA. It is freaking retarded. But, I still buy the game every year. |

I must admit my will is weakening. Ideally, I'd wait for 360 to drop in price and then get it, but football games are always my weakness. If the 360 version gets good reviews, I will be hard-pressed to not pick up the game and a 360. And my birthday is coming up, so I should be getting some cash...

Mine was nearly broken today, when I thought the Core system was adequate. After reading further, I realize you HAVE to go with the $400 system.
Unrelated question for all you married guys (especially with kids) - when do you guys get to play?! Do you send the wife off to the other room while you bogart the TV and play? I find I can only really play any of these games on my PSP...but I just wish that the XBOX 360 and the PS3 develop portable systems that are true portable versions of the main system. It would help developers and it would also help the end-user as they feature set more than likely would not be a dumbed-down version of the original. Anyway...I'm still thinking about buying a 360 and have it just sit around until NCAA comes out. Really, that would be the only reason to get one...that and the fact the PS2 that the kids use just died. However, as I see it there are really no "Spyro the Dragon"-like equivalents for the 360 that would help justify a purchase.

Here's my personal strategy: I only hook the Tivo up to the upstairs televisions, and make sure I record Oprah and all the girlie shows up there for my wife. That way she has an incentive to watch the upstairs televisions (note the big screen is downstairs in the basement). To further the plot, I made sure I have the most complicated remote ever on the big screen so that she gets frustrated should she actually try to turn it on and watch something. Combined, that basically ensures she is watching television upstairs. Put the kid to bed at 8pm. Make a mention to my wife that I heard the Oprah show today was really insightful .. and then while she runs off to catch the Tivo'd show I mumble something about doing some work in the garage and sneak off to the basement to play on the big screen. Works every time. Last edited by moriarty : 06-23-2006 at 09:46 AM. |

I don’t have to deal with the kids issue. But my wife does get irritated when I spend too much time on the 360 or the computer for that matter. She really did not like it when the router and wireless connection to the 360 was evident. Xbox Live = Temporarily PO’d wife.
I just try to ensure I watch T.V and spend time with my wife, then fit the 360 in whenever I can. Mostly post 11pm time can be xbox time. When the wife gets mad about too much 360, I just take the beating and move on. When NCAA comes out, my wife may get a trip to the day spa and lots of flowers and things like that. |

Dola,
Microsoft screwed up when they did not offer a decent game that appeals to women in general. On the current xbox, SSX Tricky was a game I could get my wife to play a lot and make the xbox something for her too. The 360 does not have anything like that yet. So right now it is just a DVD player to my wife. |

Well, no kids here. However, my strategy is similar to Moriarty. I make sure I have the TIVO downstairs set to record her favorite shows that I don't like. I also make sure I buy types of games for the PC that appeal to her around the release time of games I really want to play. Those strategies usually work well. As far as the dynasty mode, other previews have said that it does have inseason recruiting. What I've read is missing from the current gen version: Spring game (probably the thing that I wish was there the most), the weekly magazine covers (they add some personality but became repetitive after a while, so this isn't a deal breaker for me), and the Race for the Heisman mode (I won't miss that at all.) A different preview specifically said the 360 version has trick plays and the expanded playbooks (it is in a 54 page digital magazine on madden mania.) Anyway, I'm going with the 360 version. |

I'm with you. Although the spring game will be missed, one of the things I'm most looking forward to are the dynamic stadiums. Some will say this is eye and ear candy, but I think this will really add to the college football experience. Now, to find $460 somewhere
