Rodríguez Tabbed RL's Top Rookie
Wednesday, September 1st, 2094: Martín Rodríguez of the Brunswick Barons went on a month-long hitting streak against Republic League pitching and hauled in the Rookie of the Month award for August.

He batted .293 and collected 24 hits, 2 home runs, 17 RBIs and scored 9 runs.

So far this season Rodríguez is batting .219 with 10 home runs.


Best Continental League Newcomer Named
Wednesday, September 1st, 2094: José Salinas of the Tokyo Cyclones has been selected the top Rookie in the Continental League.

In August he had 44 hits, no home runs, 15 RBIs, and 23 runs scored. He hit .404 with a .467 OBP.

In his stats this season, Salinas has posted a batting average of .350 with 166 hits in 474 at-bats, 4 home runs and 40 RBIs. He has also scored 81 runs, walked 56 times and compiled a .425 OBP.

Vázquez Whips Georgia
Thursday, September 2nd, 2094: The Georgia Devils struggled at the plate today against Charm hurler Manuel Vázquez, who shackled them on 2 hits while hurling a complete game 12-0 shutout.

"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said the Devils skipper in his postgame comments.

"Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."

Vázquez finished the game with 7 strikeouts and no walks in an excellent mound performance.

"He pitched real well," his manager said. "Manuel made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."

To date Vázquez is 15-6 in 27 starts with a 2.70 ERA and has 102 strikeouts in 190.1 innings.

Sakaguchi Booms 300th Homer
Sunday, September 5th, 2094: At Ann Arbor Grounds Mitsuo Sakaguchi smashed his 300th career home run in a game against Toronto today. The 33-year-old center fielder had a hand in the Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines 8-6 victory with 1 home run and 2 runs batted in. For the day he went 1 hit-4 at-bats.

At the press conference after the game, Sakaguchi downplayed his achievement.

"Obviously, I've hit 300 home runs so I belong in that 300 club. But when you talk about the other guys that have done it, I'm not as good as they were. Those guys were the greatest of all time. I've just been able to scrape together some good years and stayed healthy and gotten there."

In his 2074-game career, Sakaguchi has hit at a .310 clip and collected 2509 hits with 486 doubles, 81 triples, 300 homers, and 1372 RBIs.

MacDonald Fashions Shutout Against Tokyo
Thursday, October 7th, 2094: It was a long day at the plate for the Tokyo Cyclones. They never did figure out Paul MacDonald and were shut out 4-0. The Apex hurler baffled them the entire game, yielding no runs and 2 hits in a very well-pitched outing. MacDonald also totaled 8 strikeouts and no walks in the game.
