Lathum, FTR, is currently is second stack with 5 players left. Short stack has about 600k with blinds at 20k/40k 2k blind.

Question for those with more experience here: is it normal for them not to talk about the amounts each will get during this sit out period?

Usually, the host will start by telling them what a equalshares chop is, and what a chipcount chop will be

Lathum has about 25% of the available Chips, so he should push for at LEAST 3rd place money

Lathum is advocating at least 1k be left to play for. Frankly this whole depending on PokerStars to show up seems like a silly way to do things. Seems like more discussion could be had as the blinds will go up and then it will become even more of a crapshoot.

And the deal seems to be off with Lathum stealing a blind. It's now the break. If support doesn't show up soon it looks like it'll be poker once more.

a chop is where you take the pool for the remaining positions and make an agreement to share a certain amount in a certain way

Lathum would owe about 5-7.5% of his chop amount to Hands

For those not in the game at the moment: Lathum stole a blind right before the break. He then ended up stealing a second blind attempting to give back the money. The rest of the players are very upset and want Lathum to give the person whose blinds it was the 100k in chips.

Let this be a lesson to never do a chop, much less a five way chop. Hawkeye is whiney bitch.

DOLA -- Which Lathum immeadiately agreed to do and the Poker host is now going to factor into the chop.

FWIW I understand their point of view. We all know Lathum and no he wouldn't cheat anyone, but they don't know him. There are LOTS of people who would try and sneak a few blinds like that.

Clearly to us this was an innocent mistake, but like I said if I had no idea who Lathum was I might be a bit suspicous as well.

Prediction: Hawkeye will whine and only agree to even split. Poker game will resume. Then Lathum can knock him out.

Do you have to be signed up with PokerStars to watch?

And somewhat poker novice - how exactly did Lathum "unfairly" steal the blind?

I understand what you are saying. But it has been obvious for about 20 minutes that this would be a split based on chip count and a few of these guys will be acting suprised when the numbers come back in.

All the players were sitting out, meaning their hands were instantly folded, as they waited for soemone from Pokerstars to come. Lathum clicked sit in and raised on a couple of hands. As everyone else folded Lathum won the pots.

He is now quite insistently defending his honor and advocating a fair deal.

the 2nd time, he should've waited told hoops to go ready and to raise all in and fold, waited, and then done it, but really no harm intended

I'm not understanding why people would agree to a chop. If you're second place, go for the win.

Then again, I'm a poker novice.

Surprising me and several others a chip count split seems to have been agreed to with Lathum giving the person who he "stole" the blinds from some extra cash.

Gotcha... seems like the technology could be better...

This whole chopping thing is just silly imo, especially splitting it evenly, tha'ts just assinine.

because there is such a difference in the places. $4K difference between 1st and 2nd, $7300 beween first and fifth. This way, every one doesn't have to worry about one card costing them HUGE amounts of money

Ah, so if they play it out, there is a set amount of money that each place gets?

It's chopping based on chip count, not evenly.. one way a lot of folks do it is to "gaurantee" everyone the lowest amount left (in this case, $2K for fifth,) and then chop the amount based on the chip status for the rest.

I'm surprised Lathum didn't push to leave a certain amount on the table, but the way they were suspicious, I don't think they'd take it
