Dola,
I can almost guarantee you that after this weekend, Duke won't still be #16 in the RPI. The time when RPI matters the most is on Selection Day.

Just like panerd and his hating on Drexel, this game proves nothing. Duke barely lost to a very good 11 seed that some think should have been seeded higher.
I just don't think this game proves anything for or against their seed.

I'll echo this sentiment in that I think the committee justified giving Duke a 6th seed by giving them such a hard opponent in the opening round. I somewhat am starting to believe that Duke was seeded 6th purposely b/c if they were seeded 7th, they would have played a Gonzaga team that has been down all year and needed to win its conference tourney to get in. Or, if seeded as an 8th seed, Duke would have played Michigan State/Marquette which also would have been favorable matchups for the Blue Devils. Thus, by seeding Duke sixth, the committee may have given Duke the toughest opponent it could find in the lower half of the opening round in the West Bracket. |
