To be totally honest, it was games like Master of Magic, Panzer Leader, and X-COM that led me to buy a PC in the first place. I'd always used Macs, but got tired of the lack of great games. This trio of non-Mac games was enough to push me over the edge.

And speaking of Master of Magic...

Is it possible to get Master of Magic to work at all now? I've got a boxed version that I remember being nearly impossible to get to run on the first PC I had. Actually, it was the first PC game I ever bought. Found it in a clearance bin at OfficeMax a couple of days after my computer arrived.

If I remember correctly, wasn't it Microprose that published the game, not Mindscape?

More recently, Stardock (GalCivII) has been trying to get the rights from Atari to make Master of Magic II:

There's evidently a couple of people redoing the first one with new graphics.

I'm interested to see what the impression of Galactic Civ II is. I'm thinking of going out and buying it.

I'm swamped with work for the next month or so but am planning to buy GalCiv II and Birth of America once I get my current projects done. Both look to be solid games from great publishers.

Interesting on Master of Magic. I might have to see if I can get that one to work as well.
