This is the first time in the 3 1/2 years I've lived here that I'm slightly bemoaning the fact that we live in a place with basically no hills. Normally, I love that. And I'll get over it pretty quickly.

2 inches of snow officially at the Thomkal household, was expecting a couple more based on how it was snowing when I went to bed last night. Still a very pretty picture this morning when I looked out.

I forgot to measure before it started melting. Just went out there. 4 1/2 inches atop the fence, 7 inches on the car, 6 inches on the ground.

Hmm...roads are probably crappy today and we're supposed to drop the little one off at the grandparents for the night.

Ha! Ayla was not a big fan of the snow and pitched a fit when we tried to lay her in a blanket.

I'm also reading on FB that some of the bridges are closed around town--very believable, but really no way to confirm that so far. Maybe at 6 the local news will have something?

Having bought media in the market several times I can't say any of that surprises me. And I doubt you would have gotten anything fresh even if you had the patience to scan the radio dial, it's a relatively under-radioed market & since CC is the dominant player (unless they've dumped stations in the past year or so) then I doubt there's been a half-dozen people working at all of the stations combined since around 4p yesterday.

We ended up with 6 inches, which was the most for the state. The kids had a blast in it. I think this has been the best snow in Simon's lifetime.

I just read how there's snow on the ground in 49 states. Yet none at the Winter Olympics (or here in Boise).

Really strange thaw pattern in Athens today, virtually nothing left in any of the yards on this side of town, but 6 miles away on the east side of downtown there's still plenty & even saw someone getting an ambulance ride after apparently falling on an icy sidewalk. Hell, my sidewalks are dry much less not having any ice left on them.
