Read up young lad and see how much fun the controls sound this year. No more speed button, etc... Watch those videos from 08/11 and the one on page 2 (Developer's diary). Me likeeeee...

It's NHL 07 for me for sure.

Well, what's cool is that the right controller is your stick, so you have much more control over it. Rear-back on the control and push it forward for a slapshot, or just flick it for a wrist-shot. While I think the "never having to use your buttons" is hyperbole, I like that fact that the controller's design sounds more free-flowing, just like the game itself.

"I think I'll.. well,"

"Ok, let me pre-order Madden then"

Sign me up for some Hold'em, too. I'm not sure how much I'll enjoy playing for "play money," but free is free.

I like that idea, but we know that that wouldn't happen.

No reason they couldn't have some tournies for the points. Not all the time, but once every month or so. Not sure how much I'll enjoy playing with play money either, but it could be ok for some kicks.

It'll certainly prepare you for low stakes poker games.

You're right. I was thinking in the sense of letting people risk their own points in order to play. Since the points are bought with actual money, if you risk them at all, I'd assume that that's considered gambling. I can certainly see Microsoft setting up free tournaments in which the players risk nothing but the winners earn points. I hadn't thought of that before you mentioned it.

Texas Hold'em is not great when dealing with free money to play online.

Most people will play all the way down to the river and never fold.

I don't see them giving any sort of prizes because of the close relationship to gambling.

It would be fun to have your headset on and play with friends. Even play chips would be fun for me. Maybe it's because I'm not a big gambler?

1) I can see it as a good tool for some of us who want to work on our games. For example, we could have 4 to 6 serious poker players here on FOFC, talk about hands right after they happened at a private table. It isn't the same as playing with real money, we all know that. But you can still learn from it with the right group of people.

2) It will clearly be a good tool for those of us who play low stakes poker once in ahile. When I go to the .25/.50 rooms, there is a lot of the playing it to the river.

3) It'll be fun to just play with some friends. using the FOFC as an example, I'm not likely to see Mizzou, Eaglesfan27 or SackAttack at our poker games on stars. We could see them here.

4) If you are going to have a free money setup, I think MS has it setup about as well as you can. Essentially, you have to build your bankroll to play at the higher stakes games. If you blow your wad, you have to start from the lower stakes to move your way up. I would imagine most of the guys at the higher stakes will be halfway decent players. Not great players, but average.

Seems like the 360 is coming out with interesting games at a great pace.

Anyone picking up Saints Row next week? Might be purchase #4 for me.

I have it pre-ordered and I am looking forward to it. I have seen folks on the gamespot forums saying they have been able to get it already at Target.

Saints Row looks pretty good, but after having gotten NCAA, Dead Rising, and Madden in the past month or so I'm going to have to lay off for a while.

Anyone played Prey? I almost rented it last night but figured I wouldn't waste the money to rent a game for $6 for 5 nights when I would only have a day and a half with it. It looks interesting. I have never really played 1st person shooter games too much and I think that is what it is.

Shoot... I've read some good impressions from people who have Saints Row already.. and I think I'm going to pick it up next week.

Maybe IGN and Gamespot will have their reviews up Monday so I can see how the longevity of the game is.

I'm waiting to see how the reviews are for Enchanted Arms, but if they are good, I'm almost certainly going to pick that up this week for the 360.

I bought this based on the demo. I am not a FPS type of person and I really like Prey. I think it is because the environment is pretty cool. I borrow Far Cry from a friend today and got tired of it after about 90 minutes due to the same FPS formula.

Prey is pretty good.

This has received mediocre reviews, but the folks posting about it are liking it. I took advantage of EB's deal and traded Tiger Woods '06 and Tony Hawk and $10 to get this. I haven't played it yet. I don't know when I will though since I got Saints Row yesterday as well.

One thing I have learned reading boards, one of the main characters appears to be gay. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I just don't remember an American game having any gay characters.

Yeah, I've read the reviews and haven't been too impressed so far. I don't care at all if a main character is gay, but have read that the voice acting is really bad. However, my wife is enjoying what she is reading, so we'll probably pick this up later this week unless the Gamespot review really pans it whenever it comes up.

Edit to add: She really likes that most "regular people" who have bought it, like it. Avg users review on gamespot is 8.6 and only a few users seem to dislike it.
