I think it's the part where he says the father is a surgeon. I think the problem is that many people have different concepts of rich, especially in different regions, places. Some people think that hardly anyone is rich, and some people think that anyone who is a doctor or lawyer is automatically rich.

I think the real issue is people who act like they are somehow more important than you because of your percieved financial situation of them. The guy obviously tried to save his own ass in this situation. Many people might do this to some extent. He seemed to go further and even said "I'll check her out because I'm a surgeon." He didn't want his insurance to go up (and there will be a claim because of the EMT coming), but by belittling EasyMac's gf's siutation, it hurt matters. But, in the process of seeming more important than everyone else, he painted himself as rich.

I find that rich people usually drive around in these types of cars...

well, to say how i know they are rich... A) he is a well-paid doctor (confirmed now that my girl looked him up, very lucrative practice), B) I won't say their name, but they have the same last name as some very old money rich people in Charleston and live on the street of the same name. If you live in downtown by the water, very good chance you're ungodly wealthy.
