Wyoming's gonna take the Mountain West by storm and I'm the man to lead them to it! We're especially gonna wreck Colorado State.

FOFC players: QB Sunny Verma, RB Daniel Ertmann

Other Star Players: None

Last season: Northern Illinois struggled to a 5-6 (4-4) finish

Pre-season Ranking: Unranked

Formations: Vertical, 4-3

Season Outlook: With QB Verma and RB Daniel Ertmann, a passable offensive line (for the MAC, at least), and a weak schedule, the Huskies should definitely be able to improve on last season's record. Sophomore DE Todd Williams is a star of the future.

Last season: Texas went 12-1 (8-1) and beat Florida State 42-31 in the Rose Bowl

Pre-season Ranking: #4M, #3C

Formations: Vertical, 4-3

Season Outlook: Texas is absolutely loaded this year and there will be an intense QB battle for the starting job, and whoever wins is a Heisman candidate. What will hurt Texas is a less than great OL and an incredibly tough schedule (6 ranked teams, 4 of them in consecutive weeks.

Last season: Arkansas struggled to a 4-7 (2-6) finish.

Season Outlook: Jones is going to have his hands full leading this team this season in a typically strong SEC. Sophomore WR Merrill Dutton has tons of potential, but attitude problems could hamper his progress. There are many weak spots on the defense for the SEC to take advantage of.

Last season: NC State struggled to a 4-7 (2-6) finish.

Formations: Smash Mouth, 4-3

Season Outlook: Gaiters is one of the best running backs in the country, and he should lead the Wolfpack to an improvement over last year's finish. On top of that, this is a team with a bright future. Including Elkin, many of the better players are underclassmen, and Musso will has the potential to be just as good as Gaiters.

Last season: North Carolina finished 6-5 (3-5), but did not get invited to a bowl.

Pre-season Ranking: Unranked.

Formations: Option, 5-2

Season Outlook: It will be interesting to see how North Carolina's interesting formations hold up against the ACC. The option is not necessarily the best use of Hunter's talents. The Tarheels have some decent young talent, but I wouldn't expect them to improve on last year's record.

Season Outlook: Mayes will put up some decent numbers this year, throwing to standout WR Clarke, but he will also be eating alot of grass behind a putrid OL. The defense is so soft, my mom could put up 100 yards on it.

Season Outlook: This is an awful team, but with their very weak schedule they just might make it back to a bowl. I expect Jeeber to get tons of tackles, because no one else on the defense seems to know how to do that.

Pre-season Ranking: #2M, #2C

Formations: Vertical, 3-4

Season Outlook: This is a very deep team, that is already set for the future at most positions. Holmes and Gonzalez headline a great recruiting class that has Wolverines fans thinking a national title is imminent.

Potential

Scouts think he will become far more than adequate as a run defender. He will someday have the type of agility that is very seldom seen by a guy of his size. He'll eventually play with the type of aggression usually seen only at the professional level. He has all the tools needed to develop excellent coverage skills.

Last season: Eastern Michigan had a miserable 1-10 (1-7) season.

Pre-season Ranking: Unranked

Formations: Smash Mouth, 3-4

Season Outlook: The addition of Jeff Nights should help Eastern Michigan improve, but I still wouldn't expect more than 3 wins. When Fred Mira departs, things will only get worse. The rest of this team is worthless.

FOFC players: RB Eric Roy

Other Star Players: QB Larry Blanks (Jr.), RB Cedric Lee (Sr.), RB Gordon Russell (Sr.), WR Carl Berlin (Sr.), C Chris Bryson (Sr.), SS Curtis Bell (Sr.), P Shaun Keith (So.)

Last season: West Virginia had a very strange season as they went 5-2 for a 3rd place finish in the Big East, but lost all four out of conference games, denying them a bowl bid.

Pre-season Ranking: Unranked

Formations: Smash Mouth, 3-3-5

Season Outlook: RB Eric Roy should help lead the Mountaineers to another strong Big East finish, but the AD is a masochist with his scheduling. West Virginia opens with three consecutive road games, against #1 LSU, #5 Nebraska, and #11 USC. Then in week 9, they will also take a road trip to #10 Oklahoma. The soft defense just will not be able to hold up against those teams.

How good are the 4 in a row? Top 5/10 or just top 25?

That will suck to not go undefeated because the stupid AD wanted more exposure for my freshman year Heisman campaign.

Week 1

UTEP at Wyoming

This was the first FOFC head to head matchup, and both of the players really stepped up. Against a surprisingly resourceful UTEP squad, heralded freshman QB Moungey threw an 8 yard TD pass in the 4th Quarter to give Wyoming the 21-16 victory. Moungey had 311 yards and 2 TD's passing, and added another 51 yards on the ground. Jeeber led a UTEP defense that sacked Moungey 7 times, but the offense just could not move the ball.

Moungey: 21-34-311-2-1, 5-51-0
Mack: 8 Tackles, 2 Sacks, 1 FF

Notre Dame at USC

Notre Dame's defense just could not match up with the powerful USC offense. Compounding the problem was Notre Dame's inability to get points on the board. Five sacks, an INT, and two missed FG's kept Notre Dame out of this game. USC lead by as much as 22-3. Johnny Williams hooked up with Adam Moore for a 44 yard TD pass in the 4th quarter, but it was too late. USC went on to a 29-12 victory.

Williams: 23-34-206-1-1
Moore: 7-107-1

West Virginia at LSU

LSU should have cleaned up, but 11 penalties for 112 yards kept West Virginia in the game. The worst penalty came late in the 4th quarter when a West Virginia FG attempt went wide, but LSU Was flagged for holding. The Mountaineers took advantage of their 2nd chance and hit the FG to take a 27-24 lead. LSU would come back and score a TD with 1:52 left, but a 98 yard kickoff return led to the winning TD as West Virginia shocked LSU 34-31. RB Eric Roy had 76 tough yards in his debut.

Roy: 23-76-0, 1-4-0

Miami at Ohio

As expected, Miami easily whipped up on Ohio 42-7 behind Galen Rozier's 158 yards rushing. The real story of the game was backup RB Emiliano Bonetta, who scored 4 TD's in his debut! Not a bad start.

Bonetta: 9-68-3, 1-1-1

Virginia at Colorado

The Colorado Fab Four led the way in this one. Badstreet Fields electrified the crowd with a 41 yard TD to open the game. After falling behind 14-13 in the 2nd Quarter, Colorado came on strong, outscoring Virginia 23-3 until the Cavs added a meaningless late TD. Fields was the main attraction of the day, putting up 186 yards on the ground and scoring 2 TD's. MLB Hoo had several big stops in the 2nd half to slow Virginia down.

Nielsen: 24-34-304-2-1
Fields: 27-186-1, 1-4-1
Heap: 6-46-0, 1-15-0
Hoo: 9 Tackles, 3 Stuffs, 1 PD

Louisiana-Monroe at Texas

Al Mighty's 51 yard TD reception in the 1st quarter was part of a 31-point onslaught that effectively ended the game with only 12:40 left in the 2nd quarter. Texas led by as much as 41-3 before the dogs were called off and came away with a 48-20 victory.

Mighty: 6-89-1

Duke at Arizona State

Colton Mayes had TD passes off 35, 76, and 73 yards to give Arizona State a 28-7 lead through 3 quarters. The Sundevils defense decided to make it interesting, by giving up two big plays to Duke in the 4th quarter, and suddenly the score was 28-21 with 5:47 left. Duke got one more chance and drove to the 1 yard line, but could not punch the ball in. Arizona State escaped with a 28-21 victory.

Mayes: 18-26-368-3-1

San Jose State at North Carolina

North Carolina dominated this game, outgaining San Jose State 470-288. However, they were forced to settle for 4 FG's and only led 19-3 with 7:36 left. San Jose State scored two TD's in a 16 second span and were now only down by 3. The Tarheels got it together hit a 71 yard TD pass and FG to go up 29-16. San Jose State wouldn't give up and they caught UNC sleeping on a 71 yard TD pass to pull within 6 with :58 seconds left. However, the onside kick was recovered by none other than Owen Hunter and North Carolina won 29-23.

Hunter: 6-52-0

Northern Illinois at Syracuse

Everyone's eyes were on NIU's heralded freshmen QB Sunny Verma and RB Daniel Ertmann, but it was WR's Preston Mattos and Tim Scobey that stole the show. Scobey returned a punt 81 yards for a TD, and followed that up two minutes later with a 72 yard TD return, giving Northern Illinois an early 14-0 lead. Syracuse tried to come back, but everytime they scored, NIU came back with an answer. Mattos had 6 catches for 141 yards to help keep NIU on top and they held on for a 26-20 victory.

Verma: 18-29-255-1-0, 2-5-0
Ertmann: 20-58-0, 4-22-0

Toledo at Penn State

Penn State's smothering defense only allowed 140 total yards from Toledo, and Jim Daugherty had 3 TD passes to lead the Nittany Lions to a 45-0 blowout. Freshman LB Stan Gunner had a nice debut, but Rick Jolley was fairly quiet.

Gunner: 3 Tackles, 1 Sack, 2 Hurries
Jolley: 3 Tackles

Eastern Michigan at Boise State

Eastern Michigan's Jeff Nights was held to 34 yards rushing, and a terrible performance from QB Antonio Stewart (10-29, 3 INT's) allowed Boise State to overcome an early 10-7 deficit. Boise QB Dedric Hutchinson got hot in the 2nd quarter and threw 4 TD passes the rest of the way to lead his team to a 39-20 victory.

Nights: 14-34-0

Stanford at Arkansas

QB Matt Jones struggled in his college debut for Arkansas, but a decent running game gave them a 13-10 lead at the start of the 4th quarter. Stanford takes advantage of a Jones INT to tie the game at 13 with 4:05 left. Arkansas can only manage one first down and Stanford is able to get into position to hit a 40 yard winning FG with 19 seconds left. Stanford wins 16-13.

Jones: 17-31-178-0-2

Hawaii at UCLA

Hawaii stunned the Bruins fans by driving right down the field and scoring on a 3 yard TD run to open the game. Could an upset be in store? UCLA's answer was no. They methodically picked Hawaii apart for 658 total yards and 51 unanswered points. DE Dallas NG had a terrific debut, but Hawaii had nothing else to offer.

Ng: 8 Tackles, 2 Sacks, 1 Hurry

North Texas at NC State

NC State built a 35-7 lead on the strength of RB James Gaiters running and DE Travis Elkin's ability to harass the North Texas backfield. Gaiters finished with 133 yards rushing and the Wolfpack cruised to a 48-20 victory.

Elkin: 3 Tackles, 3 Stuffs, 2 Hurries

That will suck to not go undefeated because the stupid AD wanted more exposure for my freshman year Heisman campaign.

#3 Nebraska, #11 Oklahoma, #17 Kansas State, and #13 Texas Tech. Not much your AD could do about that.

Week 2

Hawaii at Eastern Michigan

In a matchup between the two worst FOFC teams, Eastern Michigan raced off to a 21-0 1st half lead behind 3 TD passes from Antonio Stewart. Hawaii tried to come back, but Eastern Michigan was able to control the 2nd half to clock thanks to the running of Jeff Nights, who finished with 127 yards on the day. MLB Fred Mira also had a monster day, shutting down Hawaii almost singlehandedly with 10 Tackles, 2 Sacks, 2 Stuffs, and 1 Hurry.

DE Ng: 5 Tackles, 1 FF
RB Nights: 22-127-0, 3-22-0

Oklahoma at Clemson

This was a pretty balanced game. The teams traded scores in the first half for a 10-10 tie. OKlahoma came out strong int he 3rd quarter behind the running of Adrian Peterson, but red zone problems forced them to settle for a FG and a 13-10 lead. The two defenses then buckled down, and after a series of stalled drives, Oklahoma finally broke the game open with two George Brittenum-Louis Mann TD passes in the 4th quarter. Clemson added a late FG, but it was way too late and Oklahoma opens the season with a 27-13 win.

Peterson: 19-138-0, 1-12-0

Washington State at Florida State

FSU QB Joe Franklin and Washington State QB Terry Epstein combined for 5 TD passes in a wild first half that ended with a 21-14 FSU lead. The 2nd half was a different story. FSU's defense began to pressure Epstein and forced him into 3 INT's. Meanwhile, FSU's offense switched it's focus to RB Paul Edwards, who scored 3 2nd half TD's and ended up with 214 yards on the day. FSU easily won 42-24.

Franklin: 22-34-295-4-1, 5-12-0

Purdue at Miami

Bonetta had another strong day, as he opened the scoring with a 25 yard TD run. Purdue stayed close in the 1st half and was only down by 10 pts. after a 97 yard punt return right before the half. Miami's defense shut down Purdue in the 2nd half, and came up with their own punt return to put the game away. RB Galen Rozier had 189 yards in the 41-17 win.

Bonetta: 8-63-1

Arizona State at Georgia Tech

Colton Mayes did his best, but the offensive line protection is really hampering him. He still ended up with 258 yards and 2 TD's, and led ARizona State in a seesaw offensive battle with the Yellow Jackets. The teams traded scores in a wild first half that ended with a 24-24 tie. The offenses slowed down a bit in the 2nd half, but Georgia Tech scored with 5:14 left to take a 38-31 lead. The Sun Devils had two more chances to tie it, but bad playcalling (a run on 3rd and 9 with 3:41 left???) and poor pass protection did them in.

Mayes: 23-38-258-2-1

Texas A&M at Michigan

Not much to write about here. Michigan absolutely throttled A&M. The 34-23 score doesn't even come close to describing what an ass kicking it was. The Wolverings outgained the Aggies 453-239, had twice as many first downs and controlled the clock for 34:03. Michigan's WR trio of Holmes, Griffin, and Noa combined for 19 catches and 229 yards as the team jumped out to a 27-3 halftime lead. A&M scored two TD's in junk time to make it look alot closer.

WR Holmes: 8-97-0
MLB Gonzalez: 7 Tackles, 6 Assists, 1 Sack, 3 PD

Kansas State at Penn State

Now this was a surprise. Kansas State was supposed to be a national title contender, but the Nittany Lions humiliated them in Happy Valley. Three different Penn State defenders (including Rick Jolley) had INT returns for TD's and KSU QB Derrick Watson threw 6 INT's total (Backup Gene Dingle threw a 7th). When Penn State's offense actually had to show up on the field, they acquitted themselves nicely, averaging 6.1 yards per play and scoring 4 TD's for an easy 49-10 victory.

Jolley: 6 Tackles, 1 Assist, 1 Stuff, 1 Hurry, 1 FF, 1 INT, 1 TD
Gunner: 4 Tackles, 2 Assists, 1 Hurry

Texas at Ole Miss

This was an odd game. Texas clearly seemed to be the better team, but a combination of Penalties, an INT, missed FG, and poor 3rd down conversions prevented them from getting a consistent drive going. QB AB Burnell had 287 yards passing, but couldn't put the Longhorns on the board until he threw a 61 yard TD pass with 5:04 left in the 3rd. This brought them within 13-7, but they could get no closer. Ole Miss answered with a FG and TD, and then put the game away with 3:50 left on 33 yard TD pass. Al Mighty caught a 17 yard TD pass with 54 seconds to make it 28-21 but the Longhorns could not recover the onside kick.

WR Mighty: 8-104-1

USC at Colorado

They just kept coming. A Field Goal. Badstreet Fields 2 yard TD run. Badstreet Fields 7 yard TD run. Nielsen to Heap 24 yard TD pass. Nielsen-Fields 11 yard TD pass. USC didn't know what hit them. They looked up at the scoreboard and it read: Colorado 31, USC 0, with 2:57 left in the quarter. USC got their act together and tried to make a game of it. A 10 yard TD run in the 4th quarter brought them within two scores at 34-20, but they turned the ball over on their next two drives and COlorado came away with a huge upset.

Nielsen: 19-28-201-2-0
Fields: 28-144-2, 3-32-1
Heap: 6-48-0
Hoo: 6 Tackles, 1 Assist, 1 Stuff, 1 Hurry, 1 FF

Notre Dame at Oregon State

This was another case where a team was clearly better, but couldn't put it all together. Notre Dame struggled on 3rd down all day and after an 87 yard punt return by Oregon State, the Irish were down 20-3. They finally got some offense going behind RB AKil Quinlan and QB Johnny Williams. Still, Oregon State's great special teams kept them in front. After two Williams TD passes, Notre was down 30-27. OSU added a FG and Notre Dame had one last shot with 50 seconds left. Williams hit Moore on a 52 yard pass play and the Irish were in business! They drove to the OSU 23, but Williams was intercepted with 28 seconds left and Notre Dame suffered it's 2nd straight defeat.

Williams: 19-30-223-2-1
Moore: 8-94-1

West Virginia at Nebraska

Behind the running of RB's Eric Roy and Cedric Lee, the Mountaineers suspriringly kept this one close for quite a while. In fact, they led late in the 2nd quarter, until Nebraska's Atnaf Thomas bowled in for a 3 yard TD run for a 17-13 lead right before the half. In the 2nd half, West Virginia curiously abandoned the run and relied on QB Pete Aska, who proceeded to throw 3 INT's. Nebraska took advantage and scored three straight 2nd half TD's to build a 38-13 lead. A late TD pass from Aska made it 38-20 but there were only 52 seconds left.

Roy: 14-80-0, 1-13-0

Troy at North Carolina

The Tarheels were booed at home as they struggled against a weak Troy team. Despite UNC holding the lead for almost the entire game, Troy kept coming back and managed to pull as close as 2 after a 35 yard INT return made it 20-18. Finally, the defense buckled down and came away with a safety on Troy's next drive. The offense added a late TD for a 29-18 win. North Carolina is 2-0, but they cannot play this sloppy and expect to win in the ACC.

TE Hunter: 4-25-0

Louisiana-Monroe at NC State

This one was never in doubt. Heisman candidate James Gaiters ran for 200 yards and 3 TD's, QB LEs Tomczak threw 3 TD passes, and the defense collected 4 sacks, 3 turnovers, and only allowed 255 total yards. The final score was 45-3. It will be interesting to see how they hold up against tougher competition.

DE Elkin: 4 Tackles, 1 Sack, 1 Hurry

Tulane at Arkansas

Tulane scored first on a 1 yard TD run, but that was it. QB Matt Jones had a terrific day, with 311 yards and 2 TD's and the Razorbacks never looked back on their way to a 37-7 victory.

QB Jones: 26-32-311-2-0, 4-43-0

Rice at Northern Illinois

Tim Scobey does it again. The unerhalded WR who returned two punts for TD's last week, scored on a 43 yard reverse play. This was a huge play as it put Northern Illinois up 10-10 tie early int he 2nd half. Rice returned the favor with a FG, but then QB Sunny Verna found Preston Mattos for a 40 yard TD pass and Ertmann scored from 7 yards out to make the score 31-13. Rice was unable to get anything going the rest of the way, and NIU opens the season with a 2-0 start.

QB Verma: 14-25-221-2-0
RB Ertmann: 23-104-1, 5-81-1

Wyoming at Arizona

I guess the word for it is: OUCH. Arizona harassed Wyoming QB Tim Moungey, forcing him into 3 INT's and only 18 of 41 completions. Wyoming's defense played a gutsy game, only allowing two Arizona FG's for a 6-0 halftime score. However, they began to tire in the 2nd half, and Arizona added three more TD's for a 27-0 victory.

QB Moungey: 18-41-267-0-3, 8-50-0

UTEP at San Diego State

MLB JeeberD Mack led a stifling UTEP defense that held San Diego State to 11 first downs and 203 total yards. UTEP's offense had a surprigsingly strong day, putting up 426 yards, and only turning the ball over once. This was an easy 27-0 victory.

MLB Mack: 8 Tackles, 1 Sack, 3 Stuffs, 1 FF

Colorado State at Michigan State

It was a wild game, featuring three TD's of more than 70 yards. Michigan State led 16-13 at the half, thanks to a 84 yd INT return. Colorado State quickly tied it up in the 3rd quarter and both teams traded TD's until Michigan State's Dwayne Lawson threw a 71 yard TD pass to put the Spartans up 37-30. The Rams had no answer for this, and their QB Greg Moss was sacked for a safety as time ran out. LB Danny Wilson made a nice debut, but the rest of the defense couldn't support him.

MLB Wilson: 8 Tackles, 2 Assists

That's fine. I'm sure it was a mistake earlier anyways, you only had AD for 139 yds, sure you meant 239.

Still working on this. I'm having trouble with the player names. The game doesn't seem to liek the unique names very much and sometimes it changes them in between saves. I still can't fix the current dynasty, but the path/file error seems to be fine when I start a new dynasty with the same roster file.
