It isn't the narrators job to decide how to pronounce it. I am sure that someone told him how.

And that someone had to sign off on it from the toy company (kenner.)

And the person at Kenner had to get the right info from the source, and that source should be recognized universally as that of Lucasarts.

And we all know who is at the head of Lucasarts.

Logic prevails everytime.

You aren't using logic when you use the phrase "I am sure". Unless you have proof, what you think you are sure on is irrelevant and not admissible as logic. It's simply conjecture.

Wrong. It's AT AT. AT AT has been the clear winner from the beginning because it's right. It's the Truth. (Note the use of the capital "T" there.)

That forum is filled with the geekiest of Star Wars geeks who are wrong. I bet they're all big fans of the prequels too.

This thread is a travesty.

I suppose there isn't the possibility that the correct way to pronounce it is both "AT-AT" and "A-T-A-T", much like there are many ways to pronounce other words that are correct.

Yes. Zombie Jesus, as soon as I started reading through this thread that was the first thing that came to my mind as well.

The CORRECT way to pronounce the damn thing is "all terrain armoured transport". The acronym is AT-AT, and how you want to pronounce that is up to you. There is no "official" pronounciation on acronyms - just what is commonly used. Seems that both are used in some way shape or form in this fictional universe, even if one is used more than the other.

The A-S-A-P/A-Sap example is a good one. I hear both used all the time, and I don't even know which one I use most frequently. It probably changes each time I say it.

Family Guy's Star Wars episode is on my TV right now. Pretty good stuff as well, though not Robot Chicken's.

It all depends on which sector of the galaxy you are from. The reason this is not commonly discussed is that once you see a fleet of them, proper pronunciation of their acronym is not likely to be a top priority.

Other acronym's, however, like "D.O.J." or "N.F.L." or "A" "T" "S" "T" don't sound as good when said as words, so they are not.

I might have a solution for this. A co-worker of mine recently left to go work at ILM. I'm supposed to get a tour of the place next week, so I will do some research at the official headquarters of Star Wars and report my findings here.

May the Force be with us all...

That would be "niffle". At least that is how our pep-band director pronounced it when we played the "niffle theme".

Actually, as a joke, the god of Blood Bowl (the game combining football, D&D Creatures and a small war), is called Nuffle
