Total yards:

Atlanta - 177
Carolina - 8

I know the home team is winning every game in the division this year and I was very worried coming into this game, but this is ridiculous.

Just terrible... after getting 1st and goal at the 1, and 2nd and goal from the 1 foot line, a false start and two incompletions and its field goal time. 17-3 Atlanta, not scoring a TD there is totally inexcusable.

Speaking of inexcusable, Arizona scores a TD to go up 9-7 in the 2nd quarter and attempts a 2 point conversion? What the hell is that.

Smith should have had that second pass to him, but yeah that was pretty pathetic. False Start penalties have killed them all season

yeah I don't understand that move in the Cards game, maybe they thought they'd catch the Giants off guard or something.

and the Giants just kicked a FG to take the lead instead of a tie had they went for the XP

Looked like the holder dropped the ball, I don't think the play was intentional.

Carolina's defense has stepped up but the offense has wasted two great chances to seriously cut into the lead before the half. They still are only down 2 scores and will get the ball to start the second half if the defense can hold one more time.

Johnnie Lee Higgins PR for a TD. He was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for doing a backflip. How is that unsportsmanlike conduct???

The NFL really needs to loosen up on that kind of stuff. There's a line where things get ridiculous (staged "group" celebrations), but how does a backflip negatively impact anything? There's guys that'll celebrate, and guys that will quietly hand the ball to the referee. There's some fans that prefer the former, and some the latter, but let the players be who they are and fans like who they want.

Heh, god bless the internet. Arizona attempted a free kick FG after fair catching a punt near the endof the first half. A buddy of mine looked up the rules and history of the fair catch free kick rule:

Quirky Research: NFL fair catch kick attempts

The attempt by Rackers today has already been updated in the article(which upon further review is actually an old blog entry.. but still, pretty crazy that the author was watching the game, remembered the old post he'd made, and updated it *immediately*).

After scoring very quickly to open the 3rd quarter, Carolina forces Atlanta to punt and gets the ball back with 11:30 to go in the 3rd quarter near midfield trailing 17-10.

Panthers settle for the FG after a good drive. 17-14, with momentum going Carolina'a way.

Has there ever been a rookie so good at running the no-huddle? Unreal.

I swear every play on this Cards drive ends with a penalty on the Gmen and all of them are well earned.

anything to rid himself of that horrible nickname I assume.

Carolina scores a TD to get it back down to 1 score. They're lining up for 2, down 24-19 pending conversion.

Meh, I am not a fan.

Carolina makes the 2 point conversion, potentially pending a review, Williams fumbled but I think it was well after he crossed the plane. 24-21 Atlanta with 11 minutes left.

Hey guys, did you know that Carolina has had more false start penalties than any other team in the NFL this year? That's 4 today. Carolina just completely imploded. Congrats to Atlanta.

I dont see how you can label them a pretender because of 1 loss in 11 games. You can pull out one bad loss for any team in the NFL and call them pretenders if you want. The Giants lost to the terrible Browns, Jets lost to the atrocious Raiders, Patriots got destroyed by Miami in New England, and so on. The Titans will still be #1 seed, but I could see them losing in the 2nd round to Indy if that is the matchup.

What does this have to do with what I said in my post? And I would suggest you look at the stats again buddy, Rodgers is ahead of Pennington in QB Rating, has thrown twice as many TD Passes, and passing yards is basically the same. What the hell are you talking about? The guy called the Titans pretenders after 1 loss, so he deserved to be criticized for his stupid comment as much as I did for mine but you sir are wrong!

Ah too bad for my beloved Cards, didn't expect them to win really-defense not nearly at the level of their offense and it showed today. And now they have to travel to Philly for a Thanksgiving game.

But hey even with the loss they are closer to clinching the West. Apparantly all they need is a SF loss for them to clinch.

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll destroy an Eagle team that is going to be split and in disarray. I'm bummed out that the McNabb era is over. He is my favorite Eagle QB in my lifetime.
