When I lived in Baltimore, people would drive to neighboring states just to play in the 'other' lottery. Can't remember if Maryland had Powerball or MegaMillions. DC was the likely destination for those who wanted to play in the lottery that wasn't held in Maryland.

The closest other state to me is about 3 hours away.

A bit of weird irony that the winner bought his/her ticket in the town of, er...well...Winner, SD.

Also had the thought that winning nearly $230 million would pretty much mean that person could buy most of South Dakota, wouldn't it?

If not the whole state, he could at least buy up several Indian reservations.

i might offer to go halfsies with lathum and front him the cost of a ticket, but only on the condition that if we win he has to have "WORLD'S GREATEST WEREWOLF" tattood across his forehead and leave it there for the rest of his life...

Well crap, I guess it was another thread where Lathum said he'd split his winnings with everyone who posted in a Powerball thread.

I've posted for nothing... except postcount ++ .

Bump. Powerball is like 240ish tonight. Mega Millions is around 215 for Friday.

And I believe the regular Ohio lotto is about 35. That has to put it in near +EV range.

So you're going to pay women 500,000k to sleep with you? I think you can **** em for a lot less then that especially if you lead them to believe that by sleeping with you they may get some money.

Sorry, we were looking for a response of "That's it? If you had a 240 million dollars, you'd do 480 chicks at the same time?"

A few folks around my work have collected money for the last two drawings, and are doing so today. I pitched in the last two, but forgot to bring money today. I swear, if they win...*shakes fist*

I don't get this. The whole point of winning 200 million plus is YOU win it. I don't want to split it with 30 other people.

Yeah, I'm the same way. If other people get any of the jackpot, it's because I gave it to them, not because I had to do so.

Nobody hit for 330M tonight. I'd have to think Tuesday will approach 500M. After cash option and taxes this one has to net in the 180 range free and clear.

I've always thought of the lottery as a tax on stupid people, but its interesting to hear from people who derive enough pleasure from the act of playing to justify it; they know they aren't going to win obviously.

Megamillions is up to $237M ($150.8M Cash Value). Drawing is tomorrow. If we win, we're buying a cabin in Canada, solar panels, windmills, a couple H2s, and some ATVs. This is just in case of a zombie apocalypse, alien invasion, etc.

If you didn't catch the Mega Millions live drawing, the winning numbers are 4, 8, 15, 25, 47 and the Mega ball was 42.

Three of them were numbers that the wife and I used to play (with 4 and 8 leading the way so when I started to read the numbers I had a momentary sinking feeling that stopped as soon as I saw 15, but 25 was another one).
