Bush looks fairly decent. Then again, it IS the Browns.

Yeah Im watching it live. Ive been pleased with how KC looks on both sides of the ball, but the Bengals are currently picking the Chiefs D apart on this drive. Palmer looks good.

No problems here. It's working perfectly. However, 719 and 720 didn't appear on my boxes until this morning.

Thanks. I'l reboot the box during halftime of the Carolina game, but I have a bad feeling I'm going to have to find a phone line to update, b/c DTV won't offer phone support since I haven't updated in forever. |

The first quarter is over in Cleveland. The Saints lead Cleveland 3-0. Of course, no update on this game is complete without mention of Reggie Bush. He is looking very good, although he's getting a quick lesson about trying to change directions 3 times during a run.
He's touched the ball maybe 6 or 7 times. His first touch was a punt return. He misjudged the flight of the ball and it actually went over his head by about 5 yards, but he picked it up off one bounce and made something of it. He also made a nice catch when he was lined up at wide receiver to make a first down. The other touches have been rushes, and he had a very nice run during which he made two or three Browns miss. Basically, Bush hasn't made any mistakes in his first quarter of play, but he's obviously just not able to dash from one sideline to the other and outrun everybody. Just as impressive for the Saints is rookie WR Marques Colston, their 7th round pick from Hofstra. He's made a couple of very nice catches so far. While I was making this post, the Saints kicked another FG to make it 6-0. Should be 10-0, but Brees made a bad throw to Bush on 3rd and goal on a safety valve. Bush could've walked into the end zone if the pass had been on line. Total offense through one quarter: The Saints had 100 yards, the Browns had 2 yards. TWO yards. One yard rushing, one yard passing. At least Cleveland had a balanced offense.

Wave of the future. It's just a matter of time before an all-purpose kicker and 2 quarterbacks are the norm ... I think it's a pretty good way for a talented kicker to boost their earnings, because I think teams will be willing to pay a bit more for a multi-purpose kicker in order to free up a roster spot.
I think Carr is going to have a breakthrough season. Watching him with in the preseason against KC, I was very impressed with how he was taking to Kubiaks' scheme. He always had talent, but the Texans just let him sit in the pocket and get his ass kicked since they had no offensive line. Now that Kubiak is moving the pocket and taking advantage of misdirection and bootlegs with him, their offense looks a lot like Denver's offense. Considering I think Carr has more talent that somebody like Plummer, there's a tremendous upside. |

The old Jake Plummer is now back. Denver three plays and an INT. Plummer throws the pass off his back foot straight to the Rams DB. If he plays like this for another week, the Jay Cutler era is going to begin.
The Rams are dominating this game and are up 6-0. Dener has under 30 total yards at this point. The Rams offense looks terrible. |

DOLA. The Rams went 3 and out. Kicked a FG.
They have started their last three drives at the Denver 3 yard line, the Denver 35 yard line and the Denver 15 yard line and have 6 points. |

Keonen makes the takle on the kickoff. Now let him throw a pass and rush for yardage. That would have to be a modern record of some sort.

I'm really troubled with what we're seeing from the Chiefs offense. Green has looked deep once yet, and I'm worried that's because Edwards has ripped the deep patterns out of the playbook. Of course, the offense overall has sputtered at times, and I'm worried that's due to the turmoil at tackle -- Green hasn't had a lot of protection and the outside running plays have gone nowhere. Now Rudi is just ripping through holes. Ugh. |

Stallworth just let one go off of his fingertips that would have been another long gain. A few plays later LJ Smith just made a VERY nice diving catch.

I really think he is going to have a "bad" year or at least by his standards. I think some people are underestimating how much he will miss Branch. |

Both of the fullbacks for the Saints are banged up. The starter got hurt early in the first quarter, and now the backup is rolling around on the ground in pain. I don't know if either is seriously injured, but if neither one can go, New Orleans may have to go to some interesting personnel packages for the rest of this game.

Another three and out by Denver. Rams return the punt inside the 50. this will be their fourth straight possession in Denver territory.
I'm having flashbacks to the Dolphins game last year. Denver is looking pathetic on offense and it has nothing to do with the Bells. . . it's all about the bad QBing and poor play calling. |

Trotter gets a personal foul penalty that puts the Texans at midfield and then Carr makes a long pass to Johnson that puts the Texans near the five.

Well for South Carolina versus Mississppi State last week: Ryan Succop: 3 FG (39, 35, 47), 6 punts for 292 yards (48.7), 1 run for 16 yards (3rd longest gain of the game) |

The Saints are playing the rest of the game without a fullback. This should be fun. We're a quarter and a half into the game and the Browns don't have a first down yet, by the way. Saints up 9-0, halfway through the second quarter.

Four of the nine games in progress only field goals as the scoring plays in the first half and another game is 7-0.

I'm a bit disappointed. I really have no attachment at all to the Chiefs but they have had a fun-to-watch offense for 16 weeks a year but this just looks stupid. Then again, with all the talk of 500+ RB carries, etc, I should have realized something (dumb) was up. SI

The Browns have a first down! The Browns have a first down! They are now at the two minute warning in Cleveland.
Yes, it took them 28 minutes to get a first down.
