Few Questions:

1. Does a player develop more from more Playing Time?
2. Is there a "red-shirt"?
3. I know I brought this up last time, do you have a "no-spoiler" way to see the play by play without seeing the score first if you're not here at sim time?

I think that's it for now.

1. Sort of. The top 2 stats you train for a player are pretty much assured to go up regardless of playing time. Everything else (including the "3rd stat" you get in training - it's a very small bonus) has a chance of seeing a small amount of negative movement, which is mitigated with more playing time.

2. Not for this season, though I have the framework set up for it down the road.

3. I will by monday.

1. So there's no real advantage to playing say a freshman who is quite a bit less developed than a Junior, but has higher future potential?

2. That makes that decision easier .

3. Sweet.

4. I really like some of the small interface changes you made. There's a lot less clicking around, going back, etc. trying to do basic functions. Two suggestions to take this a step further:

a. On the "player cards" on the "lineup" screen, show potential, not just current.
b. On the "player cards" on the "Players" screen (where you set training) have somewhere that you can get to what attributes each training can improve - whether it be a mouseover or another pop-up box.

Those are the only two places where I've had to open multiple tabs so that I could click back and forth.

Not Yet (tm).

I've admittedly made things a little simpler for the first couple of seasons, to get the core functionality down.

FWIW - not complaining, just trying to understand so that I can get the most out of my team.

I've got an interesting team. 1 Senior, 2 Juniors - so I have a lot of youth to plan around.

Well, that's the other thing..

I can't see the ratings of other team's players, right?

I have no idea how good my team is. I know there are a handful of recruits that blow my players out of the water, but I don't know how common they are. At a glance it seems like at least my front court is talented, but they may just be above average.

Yes. You can. You just can't YET, because there are no stats in the system.

You'll be able to view player cards (with no potential ratings - which is why the lineup page doesn't have them, incidentally), of any player through the the various statistics pages.

And yeah. There are a handful of utter studs every year in recruiting. And as you'll notice, out of 500 recruits, there's what, 6 or so that are just incredible, and a few more really good ones.

Can you give an idea of when the recruits start signing? I'm trying to be prudent with my contacts, but I'd hate to have to miss out on the blue chippers.

It's feasible for recruits with very high interest to sign in the first week.

'Course, during testing, I had recruits who absolutely loved me, who refused to sign until the last week, so there's extremes on both sides. Figure on average it takes 2-4 weeks with an offer on the table, probably less than that with the blue chippers, since I would imagine they will have a bunch of offers (the more offers a recruit has, the more chances he'll sign with one of 'em).

I borked the play by play, apparently. S'what I get for trying to recycle old code there.

The spoiler DOES work though - just go to team -> 'play by play' directly from the login prompt.

Lost on the buzzer.

Other team was able to execute about 4 passes and a shot with 0:00 remaining, and my last basket was at 0:16, so I take it that I should assume that the last actions all run at 0:00 were in fact all taken within the last 16 seconds of the game?

Correct.

And yeah. We came back from a 20 point deficit, took it to 1 in the final seconds, and blew it.

Sweet - pulled out the win. I'm not sure how we go about evaluating our performance and where to improve, etc. I'll have to think on any suggestions I have in that area.

We crushed bot team Roseland. Gave up a nearly 20 point lead about halfway through, then just put the clamps down. Gotta love 13 blocked shots in the game!

Couple of questions...
  • When does player development occur, and is there any in-game tracking of development?
  • While I love that there is no spoilers in the Play-by-Play version, perhaps putting the Box Score at the bottom, or a link to the Box Score, would be helpful.

Enjoying things so far though!

Also, it'd be nice if the Box Scores had team totals at the bottom of each team.

Yeah, I'll improve that area rapidly. This was a scramble, since my recycled code for pbp didn't work at all.

Pulled off the 1 point win on the road as my center sinks a jumper as the clock expires.

CW, are you planning on adding distance and side of the court to the shots? So, that outside jumper would become a 15 foot jumper from just right of the key.

Short answer. No.

At least not until I completely re-write the game engine. Again. There is variation in the types of shots taken, and where on the court, but it's not at that level of detail.

When setting a player's training, the page goes back to the top when the changes are applied. Can you change that to either not reset the main page or put the training information on the same screen?

Ohhhhhhh, I think this might be the first time I've ever won the first game of the season in any incarnation of TBB.

Where's the retire undefeated button?

So..

Recruiting..

The only thing we can see is # of scholarship offers? We can't see who else is offering, their interest level in that school, etc?

No, I can't actually. Interest is only calculated when you contact someone.

And as another addition, I've added a new link to the team sub-menu - recaps.

They will display spoiler free game results for all your games (not just available on the day of the game), including stats at the bottom.

For some reason it keeps refreshing on the pbp. This is causing it to jump back to the top making it impossible to "watch" the game.

I just trudged through it...

Is it just me, or are there too many fouls on 3-point shots?

It's supposed to autorefresh. But apparently I forgot to force it to go to the bottom of the page. Oops.

Edit: And I disabled it from after the game has already been played.

AND...I adjusted the chance of fouls on three pointers.

Now THIS is support.

Am I right in saying that to track training development we would need to record things offline? This isn't necessarily a problem for me, just want to make sure I'm not missing something on the site that does it.
