Sigh.

Another forecast change for tonight's game already. Thunderstorms expected to arrive in Columbia around kickoff. I would guess this is relatively accurate given that kickoff is now only 5 1/2 hours away.

Crazy side stories developing in Columbia.

-One of the Husker officials has confirmed that two charter flights were used to get the Nebraska players to Columbia yesterday. Any players with the flu rode on one charter plane while the others that weren't sick rode on the other plane. Roy Helu was on the 'sick' plane.

-All power has been lost as of 5 minutes ago at the stadium. Officials are scrambling to figure out what happened.

Edit: NU's starting center was also on the 'sick' plane. 8 players total were sick.

Edit: Power is now coming back on. It was a campus-wide outage.

There might not be any scoring in this game... until that play happened. We'll see if mizzou capitalizes.

This is ugly. I wouldn't wish anyone to have to play in these conditions.

So was 3.5 the point spread or the over/under for this game?

Ballsy call. Those kinds of plays win division championships. Nebraska isn't losing this game as much as Mizzou has made key plays thus far.

Touchdown was good. Ball was on the line when knee went down.

Zac Lee is going out of his way to show that his 11 of 30 performance against Virginia Tech was no fluke.

Yeah, because Gabbert is setting the world on fire with is dominating 123 yards on 15/30 passing.

How many INTs have been dropped by Nebraska tonight? Jeez.

You watching this game or the local news? 50% completion in these conditions on a badly sprained ankle is borderline miraculous.

Much like OU, NU is a very average team at this point. Both teams will have two losses after tonight. I know it pains many to admit I was correct in my assessment of this game.

Zac finally threw a ball worth looking at. Amazing.

Here's a big chance for Gabbert to show he belongs by striking right back. That didn't take long.

Good lord. Embarrassing. A loss to a team of this poor quality would be a crippling blow to this program.

It's embarrassing. Pinkel's going to have a lot of explaining to do if they blow this game. To lose to an average team like NU would be catastrophic.

Yup, average team that lost two games by a grand total of 2 points.

I don't want to pile on too much but I have to say that I *love* that this is your response instead of "well I guess Nebraska isn't a horrible team after all"

Your team looked average at best for much of their contests against Bowling Green and Nevada... yet losing to a ranked team in your own conference would somehow be a 'crippling blow to the program'??

OU is bringing down the standing of this conference right now. I know you're a fanboy, but the rest of us expected OU to play better than 2-2 football.

This is what I get for getting caught up in MBBF's confidence and taking the 3.5 points.

Right, it's OU, without Bradford and Gresham that brings down the conference. Christ the Big 12 North is still an absolute joke. If OU were in it they'd be in the Big 12 title game every year.

I'd agree with that. It's KU and MU and not much else in the North. If NU pulls the upset, it's KU's to win.

Nebraska is ranked higher and was the Vegas favorite in this game. I'm not sure you understand what "upset" means.

If NU were to win at MU, it would be an upset. They haven't won at MU in 8 years. It's not the NU program of old.

I think it has actually been a pretty fun game to watch between the weather and pretty good defense.

It is still hard for me to believe that each QB has thrown it 30+ times in this weather. I thought the standard rule, in weather like this, is to pound it on the ground and then wait for the other team to screw up (which each team has done several times). Pretty questionable offensive coaching, in my opinion.

I'm not sure the Mizzou will join the top 25 again this season, doubt it in fact.

That's very possible, given that OSU and UT are the next two games. A season-killing bad loss like this puts them in a huge hole. MU has to run the table at this point to win the division.

Deep breath, and find some semblance of objectivity there. I seem to recall Missouri losing at home by double digits to New Mexico just a few years ago.

I'm sure it has to be really gratifying to all the fans of a plucky underdog like Nebraska to see their program come together for one shining moment against a traditional power, heck a veritable juggernaut, like Missouri. This is what college sports is all about.

Mizzou was terrible at that point. It may have been disappointing, but it was a totally different situation than it is now.

I'm sure some will blame Gabbert for this, but when you give up 27 points in a quarter, the blame has to go on the defense, especially given the average QB at the controls on the other side of the ball.

Nebraska's O-line was the unsung hero of that game. Really played well down the stretch against a defense that controlled them in the first three quarters.

Well, they're certainly no Illinois, but there's no question it's a huge win for Nebraska's program. Mizzou has manhandled them in recent years.

I'd blame Pinkel (or whoever calls the plays + Pinkel) for taking a 12-0 lead into the 4th quarter and having an injured, inexperienced QB continue to throw the ball in the rain.

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Both these teams are comically one-dimensional. When everyone is healthy and the conditions are right, they can look impressive. When they go out in the real world, they look exactly like what they are - pedestrian.

I believe Coach Yost is the man you are targeting.

I do have an alternate reason for why Mizzou lost that game. When my 2 1/2 year old daughter was awake and helping root on the Tigers, Mizzou outscored Nebraska 12-0. She fell asleep on the couch next to me around the start of the 4th quarter.

I should have never let her fall asleep.

Mizzou won 3 out of the last 4 by large margins before this game and 4 out of the last 6 overall. Mizzou was a big reason why that program has been so distinctly average in recent years.

Average? Besides 2006, they've had at least 8 wins dating back to the 2005 season. They aren't Oklahoma or Texas, but I think they are more than average.
